As some of you Yelp pals know, I undertook the herculean task of planning a graduation bash for a…read moremillennial...my sister's son, who graduated from high school last week. (Millennials are the worst, am I right??? https://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2014/03/here-is-when-each-generation-begins-and-ends-according-to-facts/359589/ Okay, not ALL of you.) Anyway, I survived! More details to come.
However, even though I did not end up using DJ Jon, I wanted to write a review of him. Why, you might ask? Well, in my view, the customer service and professionalism of the vendors and business owners that we don't end up using or experiencing the service of, are every bit as important as those we do. Especially here on Yelp! Today, it is not uncommon that you might read the reviews of, and reach out to several businesses before deciding on someone, and you cannot always choose everyone that strikes your fancy, of course. I mean, you only need 1 DJ for a party. (Unless you are ballin' out something fierce!) But you DO want to be treated courteously, and sometimes you might select someone who is not available, but whom you might use another time, or recommend them to someone else who might be a better fit. It is ALSO, a part of business--one that is open to the public--to deal professionally with those who do not ultimately retain your service. How many of us go into a store to look around, but may not end up with buying anything...one time or another? If you are followed around the store, or treated gruffly, or told to "get out," are you going to want to return to that store when you ARE ready to buy? Or what if you call a doctor's or a lawyer's office, looking to see which might be a good fit, and he or she NEVER calls you back in response to your query? And if such an establishment did treat you that way, are you going to recommend them to anyone else? Customer service=Not just for "customers" anymore!
Soooo..with that long preamble, I wanted to hook up DJ Jon with a shout-out as I noticed he is sans reviews on here. I did not ultimately retain his services for my nephew's party, but I was impressed by his polite and courteous response to my questions. He promptly and courteously returned my Yelp message and later, my text and phone call, (and not everyone business does, even on Yelp). He was also fair in negotiating a price, and asked all the right questions (including about the venue and what type of music my nephew might like), and his professional manner reassured me (which was most important) that he might actually show up, on time, prepared, and not impaired, to the party. Not a small consideration when hiring a DJ for a high schoolers party. Good luck, DJ Jon!
