Came into contact with Kevin Newton of TLN Investments through Choice Home Warranty over a roof repair - was able to secure $200 in coverage from the warranty company for his work and asked him to throw in replacement of roof flashing which he quoted me via text as a grand total of $550 including materials and labor. I pre paid for the work and after several delays (death in the family, fender bender, rain) and intermittent ghostings he completed the roof repairs but no flashing when I asked for the money back so I could find another contractor. He also wouldn't send me an invoice so that I could send to the buyer, at times claiming he sent it and numerous times promising it was coming that day or the next day, etc., etc. The house was under contract and I ended up crediting the buyer for the remaining repairs and subsequent damage that the interior of the house sustained in a rainstorm due to the flashing never being replaced. Naturally, I asked for the $200 for the flashing I paid for that never happened, and I was suddenly unghosted and greeted with an invoice of $1,800, which coincidentally omitted any payment by the warranty company or payments that he'd received by me. It was both petty and laughable. I can't speak to his craftsmanship, but if you have no choice but to go through Kevin Newton or TLN Investments I recommend you not pay anything before you receive an invoice and that 100% is paid upon completion only, just to help instill some sense of work ethic for a talented but wholly unreliable and morally corrupt tradesman with no discernable personal integrity. read more
