So we don't live in the area, we were here visiting family on vacation and noticed our pup had some Mats on his leg (it takes over 3 weeks to get him an appointment back home). The family recommended TLC and with a phone call they got him in the same day. This was a huge surprise for us and we were kind of nervous as he is a long haired dog with a bit of anxiety. When qe picked him up we were so happy! He smells amazing, looks amazing, and this groomer did more than our regular. As a first time customer here, I am very impressed with the care they provided to my dog. They really took the time to get the red tinge out of his hair (from licking his paws), the crusties out of his eyes and mouth hairs. They great with anxious dogs. Two of my three dogs did not like being groomed. It was always an ordeal. They would try to bite groomers or us if we attempted to trim their nails. But then I brought them to TLC and they made them feel at ease! The last place my 4 month old corgi was snapping at the groomer and I was told tries to "bite" them again they would have to ban. I Just got back from taking my German Shepherd. She has never been to a groomers before she is older and i did tell them that. She had asked if she had any issues i yes she may sit down while giving her a bath. So i go and pick her up and the girl told me that she my dog was not welcomed back because she was going to the bathroom a lot and she kept sitting down. she said it not like she was bad or anything i just don't think we can take her anymore. My dog had to be scared she has never been to a groomers before. so do they not take senior dogs? if so that needs to be said. i am not very happy Also when i had called and made the appt i told them that she is a recuse and they said okay she will be the only dog and be here at 8:30 am okay i was there and i called to check in and they said there was 3 people ahead of me. so just overall not a very good experience at all. read more

Well after reading other reviews, it seems I dodged a bullet but I still wanted to come share my terrible customer service experience with this company. We just moved here from Chicago. Wait time for grooming was over a month which was fine but when we never received a confirmation call or email, I couldn't even remember what business we booked with. I took the initiative to call this morning to make sure I had the right business. The woman on the phone confirmed I was supposed to have an appointment today and insisted that she called and left numerous voicemails and when I told her no calls were received and asked what number she called she said, "this one." As I was trying to explain to her that she wouldn't have had this number because my wife is actually the number who booked the appointment she cut me off and continued to argue with me about leaving voicemails. Voicemails may have been left, I'm not arguing that but they were not left on either of our phone numbers and our appointment was cancelled. I would have even understood cancelling due to no confirmation being received but I was simply trying to confirm she had the right contact info because clearly there was a mix up in digits and that never happened so I said forget it. We were trying to support local businesses by blindly choosing this groomer but I'd rather support a corporate chain than be accused of lying and argued with over phone calls. My few hundred dollar appointment is now booked with Petsmart in a short 3 days and I have already received a text and email confirmation. read more

I brought in My friends dog sugar who is a shitzu mixed with a Bichon frise, and she is absolutely terrified to go to a groomer. She's a small dog maybe 12lbs and she is very nervous and anxious. The quoted me on her and took her back they said 3 hours. I was called and told it would be longer because they didn't want to stress her out and run through everything quickly and not thoroughly. She came out so damn cute and so happy. They treated her so well and they deserve this five star review, because I know she's way more then a a handful. They handled it very professionally and it made me feel so much better that they actually cared about what the grooming experience from her end of the stick. read more

I couldn't be more disappointed with what they did to my puppy. Once they started work, I got a call, saying his hair on his ears were a bit matted, so they need to go shorter than we originally planned. Their solution: to practically shave his ears down to nothing. Upon further investigation, I clearly see that any decent groomer could have kept his hair a bit longer to avoid the absolute distress and discomfort they sent him home in. The puppy has been shaking his head from the moment we picked him up. This is clearly a lack of skill. They have no idea what they are doing. Furthermore, when I dropped my puppy off, we agreed on a 50% cut off his body. Especially considering the winter months, leaving some fur is important. He had about a 90% cut, Leaving him without any fur to insulate his little body. They are absolutely atrocious. I will never step foot in that facility again, and neither should you! read more

We brought our 41 pound 2 year old for grooming. Hard to tell exactly what they did besides back legs and paws. Cuts were uneven, and long. We paid and tipped. The owner and groomer said we weren't specific and it took too long for us to notify them (week) about our displeasure for them to make it right. Needless to say they have lost our business, our daughter and sons business as well. We have been going to them since they opened. They said my cats hair was too short to be cut which is bs because she is having trouble grooming herself and sheds all over the place. I took my flame point persian cat here and I requested a basic grooming and I was very disappointed. First, he was dropped off around 9am and I called at 1pm asking how long he needed only to be told he wasn't cooperating during drying so they had to air dry. Another hour later I was given a call saying he had to be sent home because he had to be sedated to get groomed. I picked him up only to find that he was half shaved and very angry. They cut so close to his skin in various places and he was bleeding. Also, he was never bathed in the first place to require drying. I have taken him to get groomed numerous times and this has never happened, but ever since I brought him home earlier today he has been angry (hissing and scratching) and won't let anyone touch him, which is unlike him. read more

I've been bringing my two small dogs here for shampoos and cuts since TLC opened. I believe in supporting local businesses and up until recently we've never had an issue. Our previous visit didn't go well, our one dog wasn't trimmed as he always is (as stated on the card). When they were picked up by my MIL, she said something to them and they basically said "Oops! Yea, it's says on the card not to trim his beard. Sorry." His beard had not been cut in 9 years (except once because of burrs)! When she brought them home I tried calling to find out what happened and to get some sort of explanation (new groomer, busy, etc,)...I received no call back! I thought ok, no big deal, mistakes happen! Took them back today! Explained what happened last time so it doesn't happen again...oh, don't worry, it says right here on the card not to trim it! Well, shame on me for going back!!!!!! They didn't cut any of the hair on his face except for his beard!!! The "receptionist" was rude as hell! As soon as I walked in, she said "$90!" Not Hi, How are you? I said, "Not until I see my dogs! And I want a receipt with the groomers name written in it!" She wasn't happy! These pictures are taken a year apart! This is my second time I took my cat here. The first time was alright. He left looking very "choppy" but I figured that's how it is because I am sure it is very hard to cut a cat's fur... so I called again and scheduled an appointment for 11:30am. I got a voicemail from a lady telling me my appointment was at 11. I apologized for the confusion and asked if I could still bring him and she said it was fine as long as I was there within the next 10mins... When I arrived, someone else rudely greeted me with no hello or smile and said, "you know your 30mins late. I explained to her I spoke to someone and they said it was fine but instead she repeated herself. "You know your 30mins late and he usually don't take cats if you are late"... long story short, just rude! When I picked up my cat, a different lady greeted me in the same manner... RUDE! No hello, no who are you picking up, no smile. Didn't even look back at me and said "70.00" with her hand out... RUDE!!!! But okay. After paying, I checked my cat who still had "boogies" in his eyes, naps in his tail, and loose hair falling out EVERYWHERE! I was trying to explain to a man that hair wasn't falling out like that prior to his appointment and "boogies" were still in his eyes. He the. Raised his voice at my telling me that I am nit picking and to get the fuc* out! Wrong girl to talk to like that. After a big scene and the amount of disrespect and rudeness, I decided now is a great time to leave my first review. THIS IS THE SHORTEST VERSION OF SUCH A LONG STORY. I took my dog in for a routine nail trimming. I noticed they took a little long for just a nail trimming but didn't think much of it at first. Until we were on the way home and I noticed blood all over my pants and saw that her toenail was bleeding. I took her back and they put something on it to stop the bleeding. So we started on our way home again and I noticed another toenail was cut. So i bought her back yet again. The rude woman that works up front apologized and I told her that I understand that mistakes happen, but how can this happen twice? She is almost 8 and this has never happened and now twice?? Her response was that dogs start jerking and things can happen, which I told her I understand, but not twice. I left it at that and as I was walking out the door, the woman said, "You could try cutting them yourself you know." Really????? You hurt my dog and try to turn this around on me?? I was really mad when I had to come back there a second time because my poor dog was bleeding from another toenail but was very civil until she said this. I should have known better, though, as this place doesn't even check vaccinations before servicing dogs. I will never, ever be back here. read more

I thought I had found a good groomer in the neighborhood unfortunately highly disappointed with the customer service. I confirmed my appt the day before. I unfortunately had a work emergency and no way to get my dog to his apt or able to call to let them know until a few hours after his scheduled appointment. I called to apologize and try to reschedule and was given the "no call no show" policy information for the first time. I can understand when there are customers who consistently do this, however although I haven't been going to them for that long I have never missed appointments so I was less than happy that after unfortunately having to miss the appointment now I was getting crappy customer service. I had already had over a month of wait for the current appointment and now I had to wait another month and a half in addition to having to go and pay in advance. Giving customers some grace is part of great customer service and unfortunately this is not what I found. read more

We were really nervous to take our dog to a groomer since he can be kind of timid with strangers and will NOT let us touch his nails. We were recommended by another groomer who doesn't groom any kind of Huskies (our dog is a Husky/GSD mix), so we were hopeful someone could get his coat blown out and hopefully his nails trimmer without traumatizing him. We were extremely pleased with TLC. Our dog came back looking great with most of his undercoat brushed out, his nails trimmed, and most importantly of all, happy and his normal self! I take my dog here to get his nails trimmed. They are very reasonably priced (only $5 for a trim) as opposed to most places where it's twice that. They also offer a lot of other services like a blueberry facial (only $7) and messages ($10.00). They use classical music combined with a phermone plug-in that helps to soothe anxious dogs. My dog is easily intimidated in new situations so the extra effort here is worth it. The place is clean & the staff friendly & efficient. read more

To the owner of TLC PETE SALON.... For the record the dog in question was not severely matted he had a winter under coat that needed to be blown out (malamutes have a double coat and the fur basically pulls off not mattes in case you didn't know) which obviously as your groomer told me that your people lacked the experience with malamutes since she asked me about shaving him.... It didn't take the other groomer very long to bath, brush and blow his coat out, (and for the record I had the other groomer take pictures before and after, because based on other reviews and attacks on other customers reviews I know your track record) and yes the purpose was to get him a bath before the vet and his eye was pus related. Once again that's what he was there to get cleaned up for. I'm pretty sure you knew his size considering you asked on the phone before hand and YOU scheduled the appointment.... So if the slander game works for you.... I'm just stating a honest customers review and I did do research on your company and I can say I will NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND YOUR SERVICES TO ANYONE....... Had an appointment with Jessica on 3/9/18..@ 8:30 am @ TLC Pet Grooming in S Dearborn Heights on Telegragh Rd...Made the app.last week 1st app.wich costs $70.00. I have had my pet groomed there many times before with much success! Had Laura the owner then Jessica..very good work. Today I got there no Jessica she quit..& Laura pulled in never came in.... went to the front of the store..went in and left..i was then told Laura won't be in for the day..couldn't talk to me about this appointment.. I was Blind sided by everyone! Very sad that this is how they would treat their customers..No notification about what was going on..Left me in the lobby with my dog who had an appointment for a HC..Unprofessenial unconcerned about their customer.. Needless to say I left with my dog with an appointment and no one to talk to no one who cared to make it right.. I just made my appointment for my dog to get groomed. I have never had a dog who needed grooming more than a quick nail trim or a bath I could do on my own. When I called in, I found the staff member to be very understanding of our situation, my anxiety and our dogs. She kind of interviewed me about my dog to get a sense of what she is like, I really liked that! At so many Pet____ chain groomers, your dog is just another number on the schedule. I can't wait to take our girl Saturday morning- I will have to update you all then, but so far, I am very impressed!! So this morning I dropped my dog off, the staff greated her w soft voices, kisses and bending down to her level. At first, she was hesitant to leave, but they coaxed her into the back at her pace and she went willingly. I called about 1/2 way through to see how she was doing, I was told she is such an angel- I had to double check we had the right dog! When I picked her up, she was calm, happy and looked like a whole new gal! Thank you so much TLC Pet Spa! You guys really are awesome, and I'm telling everybody! Oh and the prices... I paid $35 for my 40lbs boarder collie mix to get a bath, a good brush, her anal glands expressed and her nails trimmed as well as some other things. I have been taking my two dogs here for about 4 years. I have a schipperke and he is a bit wild. They gave him a "Lion" cut a couple times and it was awesome. My dogs are always excited when we get there. They love on my dogs and take pictures of them. Their prices are very reasonable. My dogs are always done on time. We moved about a half hour away so I tried some other places downriver and I keep going back to them. I see that they have a couple bad reviews which surprises me since I have always been treated so good when I come into the store. I've taken my Yorkie to TLC since they opened but then found a mobile service that did a really good job. My mobile groomer quit for health reasons so I took my dog into TLC today. When I got her back, she still had "boogers" on her eyes and I also found food near her mouth. As a matter of fact, her whole head looked like it hadn't been touch. The prices was reasonable but I'm just not happy. She's only 7# and I KNOW my dog is good with grooming so she should have come out beautiful. I will be looking for somewhere else to either take her or another mobile groomer. Really disappointing. read more

this is the worst place to groom your dog. my dog is never that matted i do brush him everyday. i always pay the same thing to groom him and last time i took him they tried to charge me way more. my dog is very friendly and now they put him on the do not take list because apparently "he's always matted" no its because i didn't pay them the extra 20 bucks they wanted. read more

I took my dog here for almost 2 years. Last time I was there, they cut her belly because the blade grabbed her skin. Well, they did it 3 times. The groomer didn't notice the first time!? I paid, and of course they didn't bring me my dog until afterwards. When I asked for a refund, they said "No" because she still had received a haircut. Absolutely ridiculous! The staff is very friendly to my little poochon and I. Their availability is also flexible and accommodating. They really seem like they pamper your pup with the services they offer. But I was very disappointed with the work they did for my puppy. They cut his tail unevenly and they incorporated random patches of fur on his lower back into it. His coat wasn't even. I told them not to touch his ears which were finally long at the time and they did, his right ear considerably more thinned out than the left. They were completely hacked, with three different mismatched blunt lengths on each ear. There's no way to fix it until it grows out in 6 months. His muzzle and jowls were also butchered and very obviously lopsided with awkward straight cuts across the bottom. I personally do not recommend taking a long haired dog here because they've done a bad job with him twice. They are so nice and professional and courteous that I do wish it didn't warrant only a 3 star review. read more
