With sparkly tops, graphic tees and leggings, acid-wash denim and novelty plastic sunglasses, Ju-Ju really captures something of Brighton's vibrant and eclectic spirit. On a recent visit to the shop, I was told that they will soon stock Cheap Monday's jeans, which I love, so I may just make a Ju-Ju purchase yet!

Now,. it's generally full of funky, .cute clothes at mid-range prices, for both boys and girls. There's a good collection in particular of dresses and tops, and the quality and style levels are much higher than many of the surrounding cheapie boutiques.

You can find a few things here and there to complete your closet or pick up your regular items you've run out of like their double pack face wipes for a pound (my one most favourite item). The location itself is not very big and I find then men's section quite small here. The women's floor has a pretty good variety. I always love the makeup section but it is a bit small here too. The queues to pay are never too busy. I find they move quite fast. I also like looking in around the register area for last minute cheap items. If I were to return to Crawley I would be back to Primark to poke around and see what I can find. On this trip I did end up finding a few good items to bring home. Be prepared to pick up items you didn't even intend to buy. Like the 4 tubes of lipstick I picked up!!

The shop was quite bustling - possibly because it only recently opened, or because of all the signage advertising the Christmas 10% off sale. Now there is a shop selling men's and women's clothing there, appropriately called Vacant. I went in for a peek- the decor is industrial warehouse look- unvarnished plywood floors, metal scaffolding style bars holding up rails and shelving. Considering it seemed to appear overnight it looked fairly established and cool- loud music blaring, funky staff, stock presented nicely. There is a room for women's clothes and a second for men's- all the items seem to be repeated in both but in varying shapes and sizes so as to fit the respective shapes and sizes of ladies and gentlemen. So the batman logo t-shirt embellished with sequins and rhinestones for women gave way to a similar batman t-shirt without embellishment for men; bright check lumberjack shirts- the same for both but the women's slightly more tailored. You get the idea. The style was very much young emo- lumberjack shirt, skinnies, sparkly ironic t-shirts, starsky and hutch style cardis. The quality seemed ok and the prices were startlingly low- £25 for a shirt, £40 for a chunky cardigan. I have no idea about the brands though- I had never heard of any of them, a mystery all round.

These prices were quite reasonable, but the selection was small, and not as stylish (especially the 70% off items.) I did see some comfy-looking pyjama bottoms though. Accessories were plentiful, and included a full wall of scarves, necklaces, earrings and rings that managed to be bright and colourful without being tacky. Gift ideas were also available, and at large discounts, including mugs, hot water bottle covers, hats, and small jewellery boxes. So, I've decided I'm going to save up a bit and return. One nice sweater is probably better than two cheaper ones I don't like all that much.

It's still fun to look through, though, and Moda & Soda had several unique outfits and bags. My favourite was a knit handbag, multicoloured with a buttoned pocket on the side. Very cute, Near the back were things of camp value...Pac Man, The A-Team and The Beatles cartooned onto bags and rucksacks. Those are always fun. The sales clerk was quite friendly, not minding that I browsed and exited without cracking into my student loan.

As a lot of the clothing are labels such as criminal damage, you won't find too many bargains, but the quality of the garments is good. The staff are friendly and happy to to let you try on any items you wish. The changing rooms are a bit cramped, but do the job. You can certainly pick up something that is a little bit different that still fits in to the general fashion vibe of the city. If you have just got your student loan, this is as good a port of call as any to update your wardrobe.
