After my first cut and color with Susan, I knew I could quit looking for a stylist. I'd found mine. I recently moved to Kansas City, and have found that finding a new stylist has been the hardest part of the move. Based on a referral, I started out going to one of the best salons in southern Kansas City. I've been nothing but disappointed, here and at several other salons. I wasn't too surprised to have to pay more in the "city", but I'm really surprised that even when I paid 2x for my color, and 50% more for the style, I was getting styles and color that didn't even come close in quality to what I got at Panache. I guess I have difficult hair, with swirls and cow licks in difficult places, and very thick hair. Not to mention the fact that I insist on having a wash and wear style that doesn't require anything more than blow drying with a round brush. Susan was always great to listen to my needs and give me a style that looked great and met my requirements. Every time I go back to Michigan, I call Susan and ask her to do a "hair intervention" to fix the bad cuts I've been getting in Kansas City. I'm moving on to stylist #5 in KC, but I always know that Susan will be there for me when I go back in a few months. I've always felt it wasn't worth it to cut corners with what I spend on my hair. When my hair looks good, I feel good about myself, and project a lot more confidence. That's so important in this job market. My experience in Kansas City has really driven that point home. In the end, I spend more on my hair trying to get a bad cut or bad color fixed than if I spent a little bit more in the first place. When I was in Michigan I always felt that Panache was a good value, a good investment in me. After my experiences here in KC, I am even more certain that Panache is an excellent value, delivering great styles and color at a reasonable price.

He rushed through it and didn't push back or trim my cuticles. He overlaid the acrylic to my skin and cuticles. Super thick acrylic. Huge chunks left under my nails.. He practically poured the liquid over the acrylic rather than brushing it on not taking proper care to avoid contact with my skin.. I could barely breathe the smell was so strong. He talked me into gel polish for $10 extra but didn't use enough coats to properly cover my nails. Neither service included a leg or arm massage like most salons. The place was filthy. No one sanitized between clients. Towels were not changed for pedicures and they weren't even used on the manicure tables.

From an HR perspective he should have been dismissed. He was saying you won't be here long and you don't know what you're doing, just sit down. But yelling and in a demeaning tone. Honestly, after being stuck there for 3 hours and me constantly reassuring his staff member they were doing good because it was the lack of communication and leadership from the owner. I actually wanted to leave but didn't because myself and another guest were standing up for his staff member. He literally belittled her and treated her disgusting. She should file a hostile workplace suite on him. To top it off, our nails were horrible. My girls never want to hurt peoples feelings but I will kindly ask for items to be corrected especially when the total was over $300 My daughter's nails were so bad she cried and begged me not to say anything. They were all filed in different shapes and even the woman who painted the design was clearly in shock with how bad of a job the owner did on them. My second daughter pedicure was a French tip with no pink paint, they still did pink but she said I can deal with it but then her nails literally no words, I did say something like you need to fix these and he said I have another appointment and I can't and there on already so I would have to restart in that moment my daughter cried. I was livid and I said you need to fix them they look horrendous my daughter begged me to leave it, so I did. My 4 year old niece had her toes and fingers painted that's all they charged us $40 are you kidding me mind you we were there for over three hours because they overbooked I'm still upset about our experience and I should have not paid for their services but I did. I went back and forth with the owner for over 35 minutes because and I quote " all prices are different then the price sheet" my niece 14 got mani pedi for $50 nope it was $75 I asked why he said oh cause the person who did her toes cost different, honestly I don't know how this place is in business. It's not clean ( osha) needs to investigate without notice and the disgusting treatment of the employees is a walking law suit for harassment and hostile work environment. What is sad about it his staff won't file because they need a job and he would be the kind of ex boss to give horrible reference feedback and really it's due to the abundance of stress they are working under and if they quit no unemployment so these people are stuck.
