It's not just the b/w films, the exploitation films, the arthouse, the animation, Spike Lee joints or the Bollywood madness. It's all of it and much more. It's the film house for all of us film lovers and cineasts who truly love film. But! What the hell's going on with the bright ground floor? It's like they asked the interior decorator not to include atmosphere of any kind. And when the decorator went downstairs, they were very adamant on keeping the extremely depressing basement. As if they thought it's better to have suicidal thoughts when partying (the parties are always down here) than to enjoy the DJ playing old Depeche Mode. And who wants to be happy listening to Depeche Mode, right?

Popcorn and soda is just like here in the States and the movie had Swedish subtitles which sometimes interfered with the subtitles that the movie itself had. There really is no street parking or parking lot here but we had walked here from my boyfriends place so it was not needed. Tickets are more expensive than the states but it was nice to see a movie in English. :)

I've attended sing-alongs and I've just booked a viewing in the Deco theater which I'm very much looking forward to. So yes, if you want cinema to be an event. Something special. Not just something you do to get a riduículusly big screen, then I definitely recommend coming to Spegeln. It's more like going to the cinema the way it used to be. Magical!

I was here with some Swedish friends to watch *slowly shuffling to the corner* one of the old Buffy the vampire slayer sing-a-long episodes. Surprisingly, surprisingly (do I sound too defensive now?) it turned out very OK, the cinema looked very neat and the guy checking the tickets were very nice and professional. In the end we got a free DVD of the last season of Buffy (hell, I don't say no to freebies!) and it was fun experience all in all. It would be great to come here again to test this place one more time. Maybe Buffy-free next time? One can only hope!

I love coming to this movie theater…read more When you first enter Kinopalæet on the ground floor you have many different restaurant choices as well as being able to buy your movie tickets here. It's very rare that I eat in here before a movie but it's nice having it so close to the theater incase you need a quick meal. When you go up the stairs you can find a cafe & lounge (which I've never tried) but it looks cozy before waiting for your movie to start. You can also find a fairly large kiosk with tons of different mix it yourself candy, bags of candy, popcorn and all that good stuff. If you go up one more flight of stairs you'll find all the different theaters. There is quite a few theaters up here and I think the seats are super comfortable here. You can lean your seats back a bit which is wonderful. I'm taking one star off however because if you're going to their large theater (for a newly released movie) you can risk having no time to go to the kiosk because the line will be way out the door. I've never experienced this at other theaters so it's a big downside for me as I like at least getting something to drink beforehand.

Sound is very important to me, perhaps even more so than the actual picture quality. So when I first experienced the new Dolby Atmos sound system at Imperial I was completely blown away. Maybe not as enthusiastic as the people clapping to the Dolby Atmos-intro, but still very impressed. While you wait to get in to the theatre you can enjoy a beverage of your choice by one of the bar tables in the open and welcoming lobby available on two different levels. You can also prepare the snack binge by visiting the candy shop. If you're down with the sugar I would recommend you to get here a bit earlier, it can get really, really crowded in here. Since I hadn't been here before the renovation I don't know how it looked back then, but you can see that it is an old building and the heritage shows through in most of the modernities which is always a good thing. I love when you can see a buildings history told through walls and pillars. Entering the theatre you're struck with how well planned it is, soft, warm, several different light sources in different colours projected onto the red walls. The seats are very comfy and they are also reclinable with good leg room. I am a 3D-sceptic, I believe that it detracts from the movie experience with bulky glasses and you get a very limited focus area. I have changed a little bit after having booked Gravity in 3D by mistake, the 3D-glasses here at imperial are more like real sun glasses, less bulky and in Gravity 3D is used quite tastefully, making it not so intrusive. So it was one of my better 3D-experiences, but I think I still will choose a 2D-viewing if possible. And it actually seems that Imperial tries to acknowledge this by offering the 2D-version when possible.
