De gange jeg har været der har personalet været søde og professionelle. Sidst jeg var der havde de et event ifbm. filmen HYGGE. Der var et interview/oplæg på ca. et kvarter fra en kvinde som har specialiseret sig i at lave samtalekort som kan bruges til at få dybere og bedre emner på bordet når vi hygger derhjemme eller med venner. Ikke bare var filmen fantastisk og fik mig til at grine igen og igen. Vi fik også allesammen en gave med hjem hvilket var ret flot. Tak for en skøn aften. Vi kommer gerne igen.

So they basically sold twice the amount of seats available in a room. With my friends we realized we were double booked. Anyway they handled the situation in a remarkable way ! They opened a second room so we could all see the movie and knit, they offered us free a free drink or popcorn...and they waited for everyone to be in the room to start the movie. Because of that double booking it took quite some time to solve the problem and they waited for us. What kind of cinema waits for its customers to start a movie. This was an example of customer service.

You know I didn't even know it was a cinema They had outside cafe tables and a large open lobby, concession is quite large, good prices, great eclectic movies with English, Danish, and other options. I only chose English because well that's all I speak and read...lucky (cross-trained) Danes can select any one and read the subtitles! I enjoy going to the movies in other countries to see what their cinemas are like and their film interests. You can learn a lot about likes and focus-areas. Okay back to the Dagmar...popcorn yummy and hot-tip: don't expect butter there ain't any...Americans beware. But the seats are spacious and comfortable the sound is great. Not too loud like stateside theaters. You feel like you can show up early and hang out. I did. Oh be ready for 20 mins of previews felt a bit longer than US standards. It's also right in the middle of a bunch of restaurants nearby so make it a long date, or a great solo outing!

In here there is none of that popcorn(but some of that candy) and there is none of that modern decor that makes other cinemas, well, modern, but also without the certain charm and air that makes Dagmar what it is. They show arthouse, but they also show modern mainstream arthouse-ish film like American indies and foreign box office hits.

Regarding the facilities, there is a cafe where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or warm chocolate before or after the movie. Can't remember if they had popcorn (pretty sure they didn't) but at least they do not have much candy. So if you associate movies to eating something yummy make sure you bring something with you. One more thing I liked about it was that it was more or less kids free and it was quite chill/peaceful with no queues. I had a very positive experience and whenever I check for films I try to look if I can watch something there. It is also quite conveniently close to Strøget so it is easy to find your way to it.

The atmosphere is laid back, and I've never seen a line of more than 3 people (all waiting to get a coffee) - and while you can buy candy, it doesn't have a massive candy supermarket like many newer cinemas, but instead has a minimal candy selection at the ticket sales desk. The lovely vibe you get from the cinema and its adjoining cafe is that this is a place for movies and cinema lovers. Not marketing. Not candy. Not Hollywood. Just good movies. It makes you remember what movies and cinema is really is - or at least really was - about. Bottom line: The best cinema in Copenhagen, second only to Cinemateket.
