Regarding the facilities, there is a cafe where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or warm chocolate before or after the movie. Can't remember if they had popcorn (pretty sure they didn't) but at least they do not have much candy. So if you associate movies to eating something yummy make sure you bring something with you. One more thing I liked about it was that it was more or less kids free and it was quite chill/peaceful with no queues. I had a very positive experience and whenever I check for films I try to look if I can watch something there. It is also quite conveniently close to Strøget so it is easy to find your way to it.

The atmosphere is laid back, and I've never seen a line of more than 3 people (all waiting to get a coffee) - and while you can buy candy, it doesn't have a massive candy supermarket like many newer cinemas, but instead has a minimal candy selection at the ticket sales desk. The lovely vibe you get from the cinema and its adjoining cafe is that this is a place for movies and cinema lovers. Not marketing. Not candy. Not Hollywood. Just good movies. It makes you remember what movies and cinema is really is - or at least really was - about. Bottom line: The best cinema in Copenhagen, second only to Cinemateket.

I do love watching movies alone, preferably in an empty theater. :) I should make it clear that this review is not entirely about the movie theater, many times I just go here straight from the station when back from a trip, to collect my thoughts and catch up on work that has piled up while being offline or just inaccessible. In the cafè they have always been friendly and helpful, in the ticket counter a little less so. Usually there are quite young and I would imagine underpaid, it really hasn't bothered me much since I get the tickets in the machine at the entrance. I am a big Imperial fan, any big budget movie I always prefer watching in Imperial. But for those times where you wanna catch a romantic comedy or a drama and just lean back and relax in a smaller movie theater, for those times I think Palads really fits the bill. I have been hearing some things about unfair employment conditions etc, but it is hard for me to know. If something like this would surface I will update my review, in the meantime, treat them well, get a beer at the bar and enjoy your movie! :)

Empire is a favourite among lot's of movie fans in Copenhagen. The vipe of the theater is very laid back, and beside the normal candy, pop corn and soda, you can buy beer, and bubbles for your movie. The seats are nice, soft, and comfortable. The rear row are double seats, so you can site VERY close to your date (blink blink). Sound and screens are great. They feature main stream movies here. Remember we don't normal dub movies in Denmark, so tourists, and expats can catch a movie in the original language. I nearly gave Empire 3 stars, because of the cleaning standard at the toilets. It looks like, they have forgotten to vipe of the toilet bowl, and sinks for months.

Seats are comfortable, both theaters I've been in were really clean (none of the quintessential shoe-sticking that happens in other theaters), and a large amount of room in the aisles (good if you're a bit personal bubbly like me). Two quirks, at least coming from my experience in American theaters and in the two theaters I've been in at this place: 1) There is only one set of stairs in the theater, meaning you're better off choosing seats closer to the one set of stairs, unless you really like getting to movies early or climbing over everyone to get to your seats at the very end of the row. 2) The projector is situated so that if people in the back row are standing up, they can completely block the projected image. It hasn't been an issue in the films I've been to, but nothing can take you out of a movie like a shadow of a fellow movie goer.

Sound is very important to me, perhaps even more so than the actual picture quality. So when I first experienced the new Dolby Atmos sound system at Imperial I was completely blown away. Maybe not as enthusiastic as the people clapping to the Dolby Atmos-intro, but still very impressed. While you wait to get in to the theatre you can enjoy a beverage of your choice by one of the bar tables in the open and welcoming lobby available on two different levels. You can also prepare the snack binge by visiting the candy shop. If you're down with the sugar I would recommend you to get here a bit earlier, it can get really, really crowded in here. Since I hadn't been here before the renovation I don't know how it looked back then, but you can see that it is an old building and the heritage shows through in most of the modernities which is always a good thing. I love when you can see a buildings history told through walls and pillars. Entering the theatre you're struck with how well planned it is, soft, warm, several different light sources in different colours projected onto the red walls. The seats are very comfy and they are also reclinable with good leg room. I am a 3D-sceptic, I believe that it detracts from the movie experience with bulky glasses and you get a very limited focus area. I have changed a little bit after having booked Gravity in 3D by mistake, the 3D-glasses here at imperial are more like real sun glasses, less bulky and in Gravity 3D is used quite tastefully, making it not so intrusive. So it was one of my better 3D-experiences, but I think I still will choose a 2D-viewing if possible. And it actually seems that Imperial tries to acknowledge this by offering the 2D-version when possible.

It consists of four floors with different themes including a movie theatre, jazz bar and the music cafe where I usually end up. Scaling the stairs presents you with really cool wall paintings which sets the relaxed vibe of the whole place. The venue is quite intimate and small so at times you basically touch toes with the artist performing. I have never been under the impression that it has been cramped for space though, which might have something to do with that you don't get the most well-known artists playing here. I can see them playing here just before their breakthrough and starting to play the big venues or maybe returning from the big venues, either way it suits my taste just fine. :) Check out their website or Facebook for a clear schedule of who is playing when or when they run their next movie themed sunday. They are very active updating these different channels which is a great way to stay up to date especially if you don't live close by.

The vibe is hip and fosters conversation. I felt comfortable in the theater, and the lounge right outside of the theater was a great place to hang out with members of my class to talk about our opinions of the film. The love and care put into running the Huset theater is exemplified in the hand-picked eclectic decor, which is hard to explain but seems to combine many decades at once (you'll have to see for yourself)! The walls of Huset are covered in street art, band posters, and movie posters, and you feel cultured just walking in there! I would love to go back to see a show, or to hang out at the bar with friends. The other floors seemed lively on a Tuesday night, so Huset may be a good place to explore any day of the week!

Now it's mostly IMAX theatre - playing a couple of hi-res film in the curved giant screen. Not much of the old planetarium part of it left. Don't get me wrong, I love the IMAX theatre and the film they play. I went there just today to see "Space Next" and I think it's awesome seeing with 3D glasses and the big screen and all. It's definitely an experience that you can't get in normal cinema. But the state of the place apart from the theatre is sad. Toilet is dingy and old (clean, but kinda smelly), the supposedly educating exhibition seems like it's been there for so long and nobody really takes good care of it. The "mission launch" game is so boring that I doubt it would catch anyone's interest. Even the game room for kids are so worn down that you felt like you stepped back into the time machine and came out on the wrong era or something. All in all, this place needs facelifting, the exhibition, the shop (most importantly! - they need to be more serious in selling popcorn and candy if they want to focus on selling the theatre!) but I do recommend seeing the film in the IMAX theatre.
