Best Western Plus Sand Bass Inn & Suites

I stayed one night at the Best Western Plus Sand Bass. If this hotel was in a larger city, say…read moreNorman, OKC, or Edmond, I would give it 2 stars. But, given the other options in Madill, it gets 3 stars. We went to check in at noon and were told that while our room was ready, to get in early would cost a $29.99 fee. This was very annoying, given that the room was prepared. So, we checked in, and came back later. I know the 3 pm check in time was very clearly displayed, but I feel like it's nice customer service to let travelers in if the rooms are available. I've been at many hotels that follow this practice, and it demonstrates goodwill on the part of the innkeeper. When we finally checked in, I was greeted by a large room. The double bed room had a couch, a desk, and a lot of empty space. It was a very nice sized room, far larger than I was expecting. The bathroom, on the other hand, was about as small as it could be. There was maybe an inch or 2 clearance when shutting the door between the door and the toilet. The pressure in the shower was good, and it didn't take long to heat up. A fine hotel shower. The room took way too long to cool down. As in, several hours. I generally like a room cold, around 65, and I don't think it reached that during my time at the Best Western. When I awoke, after the AC had been on full blast since I arrived in the room the afternoon before, it was still only at 67. So, if you like it really hot or really cool, I would say set that thermostat immediately upon arrival, and don't move it. If you're only staying a day, you probably won't get to the temperature you desire. I didn't. The property was clean throughout, as was my room. One major miss was the breakfast buffet. It was maybe the worst I've seen for hotels that offer a complimentary "hot" breakfast. The biscuits, for example, were not baked fresh, I saw an employee load them up cold out of a container which had 2 dozen biscuits in it. The waffles looked decent, they had a waffle iron available. But, while it was an underwhelming hot breakfast bar, that's still better than any continental breakfast in my book. There is a fair amount of parking. The freshly baked cookies they advertise as Otis Spunkmeyer are neither freshly baked nor Otis Spunkmeyer. If they are, then Otis has decreased his standards significantly. The front desk wasn't operated by a person at night, or at least it wasn't at midnight while we were staying here. We called several times over a 20 minute period and never got someone from around 12 - 12:30 in the morning. Overall, this is a clean hotel with decent amenities, and if you're in the SE Oklahoma area you can do a lot worse. I'd stay here again if needed.

The beds in the advertisement say pillow top and they are hard. If you like a real firm bed then you will like it. I have back problems so I don't care for the bed. This is the second time in a month that I have stayed here and life has been hectic so I forgot about the bed or I would have stayed at a different hotel. The lady at the desk was nice.

I called to make sure I could get adjoining room (traveling with my husband and four kids) and the phone call reinforced my decision to stay here. I think her name was Rachel or Rebecca (about 10pm on the 7th if November). Despite it being late in the evening, the girl on the phone was pleasant, helpful, and friendly. Upon arrival, the blue lights on the outside of the building had my kids wowed. The lobby is unique with the grand staircase with the Rt66 mural in the background. It was clean, and inviting. The girl behind the desk was the same one on the phone and again, she was everything I would hope for in a friendly face to greet me as a guest at a hotel. I'm not even a rewards member with this chain but I felt like I'd been staying with them my whole life. She checked us in and gave us a quick briefing on WiFi and breakfast. Our rooms couldn't have been more perfect. Spacious!!! We had a king in one room and two queens in the other. I love the updated neutral decor. Probably my favorite thing was the anti-fog mirrors in the bathroom. Soooo cool!! Even better was the ambient lighting around the frame of the mirror so you're not blinded by the ceiling light in the middle of the night. The beds were very comfortable. My husband doesn't like to sleep in any bed but his own and even he liked these beds and pillows. We all slept great! I would definitely stay here again. I would actually go out of my way to stay here again. Customer service is my number one factor when rating businesses and this place would have four stars even without all of the other perks, based solely on the fantastic customer service I received during my stay.

(NOTE: personally believe that everyone eating could/should tip a couple of dollars to those who ensure you have food/clean up afterwards). Restroom was of a sufficient size having as large walking shower with excellent water pressure. Could have used a shower seat of some kind, or I probably could have inquired at the desk for one. High was 109 this day and the room was nice and chilled. Wife complained about trains somewhere in the distance all night long...

We followed the recommendation from google maps to use the northeast parking garage (we were able to plug that into our google map). There was plenty of parking when we arrived. We entered into the Casino area. I know there were several reviews about it smelling of smoke, and I really don't have much of a tolerance for it, but we didn't think it smelled bad. We walked through the casino area looking for the buffet, and we didn't come across anyone smoking. Buffet We had no wait in the buffet line. We paid and we were seated. The waitress immediately grabbed our drinks. Most of the buffet is served cafeteria style, which I prefer. We were pretty pleased with that they had to offer. I liked the asian dishes pretty well, and then the prime rib and sausage were good, and the desserts were delicious. There were other foods that weren't so good, too, such as their fried offerings. The waitress didn't let our cups go dry, and she was quick to remove any finished plates. She even brought some coffee for us to enjoy our dessert with. The Grand Theater We finished and made our way to the concert theater. We walked in and used the restrooms, which were very nice and clean. We passed by the merchandise table and headed straight for the theater. We walked in and very much loved the layout of the theater. It is such an intimate setting. We were on the 200 level seats, great view. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Of course, the concert was amazing. Parking Garage We left and headed back to the parking garage. My husband had quite a bit of trouble trying to exit the parking garage. We didn't feel like it was well marked.

They clearly value faith, connection, and relationships-- which I absolutely love! They even have an entire lobby and breakfast area with Christian books, movies, and snacks. There were a few things that made our trip a little less comfortable. First, we tried to contact the owners multiple times and never received a response back. They have signs posted saying that guests should feel welcome to reach out via text anytime, but every time we did... we heard nothing. The thing that I am having difficulty getting past was a stain on the comforter of the bed... there was a clear blood stain on the quilt, which made us feel uneasy. We texted the owner asking where we could find extra blankets, since we didn't want to use the comforter, and didn't receive a response back... This made me question the cleanliness of where we were staying. To be fair though, everything else seemed clean! I write this to be constructive and truthful. I'm not sure that we would stay here again, but I can tell many people value and cherish La Ville inn, including the sweet couple we met in the lobby during our stay.
