Nice beach, seems a little less busy than silver beach. However it's ridiculous that my recreation pass is good for silver beach and you have to pay for this beach when literally a canal/river separates it.

Tiscornia Park is a beach that I have come to since I was a child.  My best friend and I came here about a week ago to check out the erosion from all the flooding that's been happening recently.  A lot of the beach is now under water which makes me super sad. But even if the beach is receeding faster than my fathers hairline, I will always love this beach.  I wish more people saw the damages of global warming because Tiscornia beach is truly a prime example of climate change.  I won't ever stop fighting for my beaches here in Michigan.  I will continue to rage with the power of a tsunami. Until next visit, and pixie dust.

On my lighthouse tour (there are 105 on the loop around Lake Michigan - yes, really), this was my first visit and it did not disappoint! We visited on a cold fall day and didn't see another soul when visiting. Easy parking with two entries out to the pier. We chose to climb the small staircase above the public restrooms and walk the beach to the pier. The sand will be in my shoes forever :) The walk out to the first lighthouse was easy and no concerns, from the first to the second we saw slippery spots and a much narrowed walk way - if you are comfortable, totally worth walking all the way to the end to look back to the beach. We walked back down the entire pier and past a beautiful sculpture to return to the parking lot. The entire walk and view took us about 40 minutes, but definitely a leisurely pace! Bring a camera, maybe a selfie stick and if it is cold you will want a jacket that can break the wind when you are walking out on the water.

Direct access to the beach, bathrooms, and the lighthouse. You have to pay to park, but it is worth it. The bathrooms are immediately accessible as you walk towards the beach and there are some small dunes for kids to run up as well. Once you enter the beach area, the lighthouse is right there on one side and the beach extends in the opposite direction until it hits a private beach. We went during a holiday weekend and it was still comfortable in terms of not being overly crowded. The water was still very cold, but that's how Michigan is.

As far as Lake Michigan beaches go, this is far from the best but is beautiful nonetheless. There is a $10 parking fee for the parking lot located right by public bathrooms and a few minute walk to the beach. Although I hate having to pay to park, it was totally worth the convenience. The bathrooms were clean, there is a water fountain and outdoor showers to wash off feet etc. The beach itself is gorgeous because...it's Lake Michigan and Lake Michigan is one of the most beautiful places in the world. As you approach the beach, there is a very small dune with grasses and then you come to the beach. The beach is not very large and is right next to a pier with a lighthouse. It is a really pretty spot to swim because you can look down the coast at the other beach goers, out at the lake to see boats going by, or at the lighthouse. The water is very clean here and pretty shallow. After a swim, a walk down the pier is recommended where you will see fisher(wo)men, groups of people walking along the pier enjoying the beauty and people jumping off the pier. The waters are very busy here and it is enjoyable to watch all of the different sized boats going by. This is a lovely place for the area and is really close to the cute downtown area. A great place to stop if you're nearby.

July 7, 2018 After finding Lions Park beach public access is gone, and the restrooms locked at Jean Klock, we decided to try Tiscornia. We arrived at 830am, got close parking after paying our $10 fee, to a quiet almost deserted beautiful beach. The water was clean & clear, unfortunately it was arctic, 47 degrees so we didn't swim much. The beach was clean, easy to walk on and much cleaner than Jean Klock by far. My husband and I spoke about the beauty of this beach as we watched the boats come around the pier. It really was magical the 1st few hours. However, by noon, it rapidly filled with people, and loud, VERY LOUD. We had to dodge soccer balls hitting us, water machine gun spray and parents yelling at their children. By 2:30pm, boats were coming very close to shore and dropping anchor, clearly displaying beer bottles. This was extremely dangerous since by now about 100ish people including small children were in the water. Women's bathroom needs improvement, 3 stalls, 1 out of order, it was clean and stocked, wait time was about 30 minutes since people were changing in the stalls. We left at 3:30pm and came back at 8pm to walk on the pier and watch the sunset, which was amazing. About 25 people were there also. * Bottom line, we would come again during the week only. The pier and lighthouse was really the best!

    Great spot to watch boats!

We love this beach! The dunes and the nearby walk to the lighthouse and marina make this park a perfect spot for some lakeside relaxation. It is much busier during the summertime so get there early for a spot near the water. The parking meter patrol was walking around checking cars so ensure you've paid for parking. ($10 on weekends).

Beautiful sandy beach. Costs $5 to park. Nice bathroom but no changing facilities. Picnic tables. Lots of room to spread out. Gorgeous views. Small walk up and down dunes. Walk to lighthouse as well. Very family friendly.

Silver Beach is nice... but overcrowded. Tiscornia is the best option if you don't have young kids. If you aren't paying attention to your child in the Lake - no one else will be but maybe the undertow will. This B-side beach to Silver Beach comes with a 10 dollar parking cost. I suppose you could walk from Silver Beach but it would take forever. This beach is ideal because unlike Silver Beach - THIS beach has the only real access to the lighthouses. This beach is a photographer's dream come true. It's clean. Has on-site bathrooms and the St. Joseph rangers are always present it seems. Very kind and helpful. Check out Tiscornia's guided lighthouse tours. Had no idea there was a way to get up on the upper deck of these lighthouses for a nominal fee!

My review is for the parking. The lot was so small and we couldn't even stop. The have 1 lot and there isn't a lot of spots.

Beautiful beach, clean sand, clean water, wheelchair accessible ramp, lots of driftwood structures,…read moreand best of all, it's not crowded. People come here to just sit and watch the waves, look for beach glass, do zen meditation/gardening with the pebbles, clean up litter, swim, paddleboard, and chill with their dogs. (The last is technically not allowed but I won't tell if you won't.) The only drawback is there isn't much parking. Pro tip: your navigation app may direct you to a parking lot north of the parking lot with a ramp entrance to the beach, but that is great for overflow parking. Rocky Gap County Park will get you to the closest parking lot to the beach.

The beach is very narrow, so we were worried at first about finding a space where we could be distanced enough. Not too far down we found a spot. By 4pm many families had left. By 5 there were only a few of us and the occasional individuals coming to find rocks. We couldn't believe how nice the water was! Weeks of 80+ weather has made the water cool but refreshing. Everyone enjoyed looking for pretty and interesting rocks or digging in the soft sand. The girls could go out quite a ways and it not be too deep. Because there was an advisory against swimming, we didn't try to see how far we could go. There are two latrine style bathrooms. Smelly bit could have been worse. Heads up there is very little signal to be found at the bottom of the bluff. We would go again. I'd make sure I took my water shoes as I have sensitive feet, but the rocks are mostly smooth and only go out maybe 5ft or so before it's mainly sand. Having our wagon made the short haul from the van, down the ramp, and to a spot not far from the ramp. Oh, and we'd have tools to help search more more rocks. :)

I have lived in the Saint Joseph, Michigan area my whole life (I moved to Benton Harbor in my 20s)…read moreand I honestly love it.  Other than the horrific winters we have between January and March, the weather is pretty decent.  Each season is treated like its a majestic time and many events are set up by 'St. Joseph Today'.  In the winter, the chili tour, Beer Fest, and Ice Festival are the spotlight events.  If you're looking to do some things not planned by the city, the carousel makes a great indoor activity and so does the Curious Kids museum if you have children.  Taking a trolley ride is also a fun option that I'd suggest doing at least once.  The trolley isn't just during the summer, meaning you can take a trolley ride in the fall to watch the leaves change or even in the winter (until December 7th this year).  Numberous shops downtown offer hot chocolate, my favorite being The South Bend Chocolate Factory. In the spring there is a wine & cheese walk that I am excited to attend this year and also a living mannequin display, both events being in March.  If it's still cold, the two indoor activities I mentioned before are open year around.  If it's warm, walking around downtown is a great activity. In the summer there are lots of events.  My favorites are the antiques on the bluff, farmers market, the artisan fair and chalk the block.  If none of the events strike your fancy, the beach is a wonderful place to go.  There are lots of ice cream shops around town and wonderful restaurants for a quick bite. In the fall I enjoy going downtown to trick-or-treat at the businesses with my nephew.  The air is usually still warm for a good walk through November.  Long story short, I shop in this city, work in this city, grew up in this city and went to school in this city.  I'll always love this city.
