This mural was created in 2012 and has seen better days. You will find this mural on the side of The Indiana Shop (TIS) bookstore and is the work of Kara Barnard and Jody Bonifield. So, it is only fitting that the mural depicts Indiana University's legends and strengths: music and art, sports, education and campus, each has its own respective section on the mural. The sports section, for example, has representation of swimming, football, soccer, volleyball, baseball and of course basketball. The music section has painting, violin, trombone, piano and singing. If there are notable people represented on the mural, I do not know them.
The mural overlooks a commercial parking lot that allows for you to easily park and get a better look. The mural is faded though and nowhere near looks like it did when it was originally painted back in 2012. It lost of its color.
It is a nice mural, but you won't be blown away by the artwork or detail. It is pretty basic. Anyway, as with most public art that I review this is not a destination piece. You will visit either visit this mural by simple chance, like I did, or visit here as part of a larger itinerary. read more
