When I first walked in, there was no desk staff and just a coded door to the waiting room. Dr Donah…read morewas running late, and I almost left. I'm so glad I stayed! My first impression of Dr Donah was that she was a 20-something woman who must have gone to med school in her teens. Her face was perfect, beautiful skin, perfectly balanced cheekbones and jawline, and the right sized lips... not oversized balloons or thin blah lips, but just the right balance of full and natural. When she told me she was 50 I was blown away. I decided I wanted to know what on earth she was doing to keep her face looking like a dewy teen. And then I decided that whatever she was doing, I wanted a doctor who knew, first hand, what REAL natural beauty should look like. First of all, I could care less about getting a fake face that looks like every other crazy older lady, with frozen faces, no expressions, and huge "I' want to suck you" lips. I take good care of my body and my skin, and I have always liked my face because it is uniquely and always me. When I saw Dr Donah, I saw the results of someone who has access to all that modern technology has to offer, and has tastefully used it to keep her own natural beauty fresh and looking like she is 20. I don't care about the absent front desk staff or the locked waiting room. After having been to several of the local "med" spas in this area, and seeing what their staff and treatment pros look like, I always held back on most of what they would suggest until I tried a small amount of it myself first to make sure it wasn't too much or hideously fake. I didn't want whatever they were doing! As soon as I found out Dr Donah was 50 and still looking so young, fresh, alive, and beautiful, I knew I would take her recommendations for what I needed. I love that she is a small business owner, trying to make a go of it in a challenging and competitive field. That said, she is also an ER Doctor a few weeks per month. That means she is smart, fast on her feet, and trained enough to handle anything that comes up medically. I don't believe there is any doctor in slo who has better qualifications than Dr Donah, and her own results are exactly the look I want! the person who does my treatments is a real MD AND a woman who knows what beautiful and natural is, from the inside out.

The person was nice and knowledgeable and explained everything. After 1 session, I noticed results. I went back and another great session. I found out that this person was no longer working there but I still went back for another session. This new person changed the settings and told me to tell them how it is the next time. I didn't notice much results. Then I try to schedule another session and learned that they are only doing laser hair removal on Wednesdays. I couldn't go and had to pause. I eventually called and learned that they have someone full time. I scheduled an appt and went back. It was another new person. I guess she got double booked and was trying to rush me. She even started the laser session without giving me the goggles. Again, she messed with the settings. Not only that, but as I'm going to pay, I learned that the price doubled! I haven't returned since and will probably look to start a new experience elsewhere. Just sucks the money I wasted in this place. It's not cheap getting laser hair removal and some of us can't afford to throw a few hundred to get no results because of new staff or being double booked.

However, one day about 5 years ago, my legs turned from having calves and ankles to "canckles" I had severe edema. I could push my finger on to my skin and create quite a long lasting dimple. She ran tests and gave me a few adjustments in hormonal treatment, and strted me on thyroid. Guess what? Cankles left, my ankles came back. I went to several dr.s and clinics and she handeled this in just a few weeks. This may seem simple, but truly I had been to several dr's. No one did any of the things she did!! The receptionist BARBARA, decided to have an attitude and was not compassionate, did not listen, and hung up/slammed the phone. Within the first few seconds of the call she repeatedly mentioned concierge service, understood Barbara. But the practice is pulling as IN NETWORK, so I asked a question. You interrupted me over and over and I took 2 seconds to respond to an aggressive person, but before a full word came out she hung up, and I mean old school slammed the office phone. I called back and she again spoke over me and continued to NOT BE HELPFUL AND NOT BE COMPASSIONATE of patient in need of establishing care and hung up again. I was angry and I am pretty certain I said a bad word when she hung up again. When I called back a male answered, I explained the confusion and my experience. He said they are inundated with calls, that doesn't mean you can hang up on a potential patient, if I don't do med, I could do SPA...right? Also, maybe the word "sweetheart" was in kindness, but read the room, when your staff is hostile, using "sweetheart" could be taken incorrect from male to female. Either way, again I was at ER last night, I am new to the area, and my insurance only pulled up this doctor. *see screenshot* Good thing you hung up on me BARBARA, maybe you are deterring clients and patients from this office and DR Yelena S Lapidus should reconsider who is representing the face of her reputable office from initial contact and preventing some patients from advancing.
