Im a new member of the Tipton area and the few times I have been in the store in the past week have…read morebeen abysmal to say the least. The young men working on the floor have been of no help. They usually dont even know where stuff is and it takes 2 or 3 people searching the store to find something. A couple of them have had a headphone in and are very unprofessional and will up right ignore customers. I struggled to find someone on the floor for a good 5 minutes before I realized that they were at the front of the store socializing with the cashiers. The isles look a mess because no one is tidying them up, the meat looks unappetizing, the produce is just as bad. Strawberries, blueberries and raspberries were pretty much all covered with mold. I dont recommend going to the store at all and would rather drive the extra time to Muscatine or Davenport for my groceries. Truly sad because this store I thought had such great potential.

I have not seen any grocery store outside of a campground store selling packaged foods higher than the MSRP except for this place. Their meat selections like ground beef have not impressed me and I now avoid then. I can't really place why, but the ground beef has always had a grittiness to it with large chunks in it that I haven't had other places. The fruit and vegetable selections are usually not that great and nearing the end of their shelf life, so I'm guessing they have a supplier or warehouse issue they need to address. The checkout staff is not well trained on industry bagging standards and often puts heavy items where they can crush items like bread. They also pack meat in the same bags as other items where the meat juices seep out and contaminate the contents of that bag. The quality of their plastic bags was obviously the result of buying from the lowest bidder as they rip 25%-50% of the time. They had an exceptionally bad batch a year ago when nearly 100% ripped carry them from my car to the house. They have done some updating inside, so it doesn't feel as run down as it did 5 years ago, but they have a long ways to go. With Walmart's remodel down the street in the past year to offer more grocery items, I don't expect Family Foods would last long if Walmart converted to a supercenter or Hy-Vee or any other chain put up a competiting store. They feel like they are holding on only because they don't have much competition in town.
