Those Oregonian kids gotta have indoor places to play--it rains all the time! When I went in here I…read morethought, I wish we parents of young kids had a place like this back home. It rains so rarely where I live, it'd be a shame to be indoors all day. It'd be rad if they could open the roof on sunny warm days. Do I ask for too much? Imagine a really good indoor play structure. Like 3+ levels high! A small play area for tiny kids. Some video arcades and such. Some adult games like corn hole, shuffleboard table, darts, and such. A full restaurant and bar! A few cabana-type small rooms for parties or whatever. And it's not too loud!!! I was worried an indoor play area would be excruciatingly noisy, and not well ventilated. It seems like the space is big enough to suppress the kids' yelling, but not so big that the echoes impose. I guess the large space also helps keep the air from feeling stale, maybe they have added ventilation. The bathrooms are kinda small and I had to walk outside the main play area through the small lobby. The food is good, and they have a wide selection of beverages--including adult beverages! Free parking lot. The price is about what I'd expect for an indoor play structure, when we need to get out from the rain. PLUS there's all the other stuff. I guess the money I spend on food and beverage helps keep it open. I had fun cruising through the play structure with my 7yo and my 1-1/2yo. Some adults were conversing in groups, or alone engulfed in a book. If you have kids, go. If you choose to give a thumbs-up or not, I hope you found my review helpful!

THIS UPDATE IS FOR SWIM LESSONS: hands down the best community for swim lessons there is. The kids…read moreare given a productive learning environment, which caters to children and their needs as tiny humans. Whether your child is terrified or excited to learn the teachers are able to work with them and make the fundamentals of swim and swim safety fun. They are patient and kind and listen to parents lead on what children need (because parents know them best). There are pins to earn as motivation to learn, and when they graduate Bobby Jo is great about making them feel special for accomplishing it. More than anything the parents are able to be at ease, and the kids needs are met. The teachers and deck manager are attentive and take it seriously while also creating a community. This is the only branch that offers swim times 5 days a week and during the day (12 noon) Thursday. The new program, once you're registered, allows you to pick and choose each day/week based on your schedule so if you're out of town a couple weeks you can make up the time the following week. There is a hot tub, lap pool, and therapy pool (warm like a bathtub). There is such a stark difference from river rd south the kids and parents look happy.

I don't like payments made through a credit card. It isn't how I do my personal finances. But there was no room for movement on their part. I tried using the facilities for about a year and a half. I certainly did not feel like I was part of the clientele that they draw in. I was part of the working class poor during my 50 years of employment and the staff and clients all gave me the feeling I was out of place. The more elite class seems to be what this establishment draws. I was there just to make them feel like they were "slumming it." I should have known when they charge a much higher fee to use their facilities just because they have aquatic facilities. When I was told by someone that the club had refused to close during the peak of COVID and had to be forced to close for the safety of the general public that was enough to tell me that this business cares nothing about our health. Just our money. I worked the front lines in healthcare during that pandemic and watched as loved ones could not even see their family member as they succumbed to the virus. Perhaps if the owners of said club spent a day in an ICU unit as a million Americans died they would have a change of heart but you have to have a heart to change first. This obviously is just my opinion of the place.

people are nice, but it's all about locking you into long-term contracts at very expensive prices…read more They offer to go over your budget with you. Why do adults need a dance studio interfering in their budget? Very high pressure to join in these contracts.

I started taking lessons at Arthur Murray Salem in January of 2020. Even during all the shut downs…read morethey did everything humanly possible to bring us lessons and group classes on-line. Fair financial accommodations were made by management (a pressing issue for businesses like gyms during that time period) and almost every student stayed engaged during the craziness of the next two years. Lessons at AM aren't just about dancing. They make every thing super fun and over time friendships with other students start to develop. You can choose the direction you want to go (i.e. social dancing, performing or competitive) or you can choose to do all three! Oh, and by the way, the instructors are amazing! Admittedly, if you are used to paying for the once a week lesson for your child to dance in a group class there may be a bit of sticker shock, but important to remember these are PRIVATE lessons. And, it includes as many group classes and practice parties that you want to go to! Extra performance based activities are optional and never required. Although they are a lot of fun. It is never too late to start a new hobby or pick up an old one. Starting at Arthur Murray was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has changed my life for the better. Give them a call!!!
