We came here for dinner one evening after a day spent hiking in the Brecon Beacons National Park, and thankfully the environment is very casual so we didn't feel too out of place in our hiking gear.
When we arrived about 7pm, and for the duration of our meal, the place was very empty with only one other table of patrons, mostly because there were no shows in the theatre that evening. However, because it's by the water, apparently it gets extremely busy throughout the day when the tourists visit by water, especially on sunny days.
The menu consists of a mixture of dishes that seem to have been chosen because the chef/owner really liked those dishes, rather than following a particular cuisine or theme. But the range is wide enough that there is at least one thing for everybody.
Tipple & Tiffin is attached to a theatre so there is a slight price premium for the food. For example, the staff recommended the 'Tiffin Shards' which were a couple pieces of laver bread (looked and felt like rectangular poppadoms) and a small pot of melted cheese. While tasty, it probably not wroth the £8.
Pricing aside, the food we had were pretty tasty, particularly the cajun whitebait on the special menu when we visited that evening. We also had the slow roast lamb shank which was tender and moist. Although portion size tend to run on the smaller side across all dishes, especially given the price tag, at least the food was tasty. read more
