    MS Chimney Repair

I had a very positive start-to-finish experience with MS Chimney. For several years we had been…read moregetting birds and an occasional squirrel stuck in our chimney. The last time, over winter, TWO birds got stuck in it. I was able to fly a drone up and look at the cap-one of our sides was completely exposed. I gave a few chimney companies a call and MS Chimney was the first to get back to me and they also gave me the best price. Once I scheduled the inspection, communication was excellent. Zach let me know when he was on the way and his thorough inspection lasted a good 30 minutes. In addition to needing a better cap on our chimney, the firebox needed to be cleaned and re-pointed. The total cost was $500 less than what my buddy had paid for the same job from another company several years ago. The MS Chimney works with a custom fabricator who builds each cap to the specs of the chimney. After Zach finished that day, I flew my drone up and was very happy with the final results, an incredible difference from the sloppy job that had been done previously! Zach was thorough, polite, and punctual. I'd recommend this company again.

This job finally involved about 45 min of work which included an inspection and pushing a brush up the metal liner in the fireplace chimney and some vacuuming. I was told stage two and three creosote was present especially in the smokebox but would not be removed with this maneuver. There was no inspection of the top of the chimney. I find this service very poor value for the money spent.

Highly recommended!…read more I called with multiple questions- needed tuckpointing on two chimneys, chimney caps to keep out the raccoons, and an inspection/cleaning of an old wood-burning stove. Scott came out for an inspection and gave me great advice- namely that I would need major repairs and updates to safely use the stove- so he advised me against spending the money to clean it unless I intended to commit to the rest of the project. Scott took his time and explained quite a bit to me. I was in a bit of a hurry to get the chimney work done because I had my new roof on hold waiting for the chimney repairs. Brian came out within a day or two to give me an estimate, then was able to sneak me into his schedule for the next week. Each time they said they would be there, they were. And everything was thoroughly cleaned up before they left! I have two awkwardly placed chimneys and had received multiple repair estimates. Some refused the job, others gave me estimates which were much higher than Good Knight's Sweep. One contractor wanted me to rent a manlift for $1000. Scott and Brian set up scaffolding- off of my upper deck for one of the chimneys, around the power lines for the other- and somehow made it look easy. Brian did the tuckpointing and replaced the crowns on two chimneys- the work was pristine, and they even went back up at the end of the day to clean up a small drip that I never would have noticed. Scott dropped a mothball in the chimneys to keep the raccoons out, then replaced the caps. I have had multiple consultations on how to get the raccoons out long enough to cap the chimneys, all were ridiculously expensive and involved trapping/killing the raccoons- so this solution was amazing. Fees for the caps were also lower than other quotes I received. Finally, I just want to say that these are such nice guys! Scott removed an old antenna that was on my roof and hauled it away. Brian cleaned up some unsightly discoloration on the side of my home that the HVAC guys had left. They could have easily said "sure, I'll do it for $50" or whatever- but both things were done really just as a favor. I'm not someone that normally writes reviews, but honestly just can't say enough good things about these guys. If you need any type of chimney or fireplace work, just call them and look no further.

He came out to our house for air duct cleaning gave us a bogus estimate over the phone for $450 to begin and then he dropped it to $350. The I found his company online through a made-up profile, he shows up at our house he talks a good game but he absolutely did not fix anything I actually had to take my furnace apart just to fix where he screwed up, he promises pictures of every vent before and after. I received two pictures that aren't even of the same vent and I don't even know if there ours. We told him prior that our landlord would be paying and that we would need an invoice. He agreed, then before he left he demanded we pay cash check or Zelle and told us he could not leave until he was paid! And he had the audacity to ask for a tip!! Luckily our maintenance guy had painted a lot of the things shut so I was able to tell after he left that he did not do three of our vents or the air return and we only had five!! This is a complete scam and please do not reach out to this man!! I thought he was just a smooth talker young kid trying to make some money and it turns out he is a complete scam and I guess it's a really common thing for this type of service because you do not need a license. HE EVEN QUOTED MY LANDLORD $6,000 TO REPAIR THE CHIMNEY CROWN OF A SLAB HOUSE THAT'S NOT EVEN WORTH $20,000. AND RATHER THAN SENDING MY RECEIPT THAT'S WHAT HE PROCEEDED TO SEND ME THE MOMENT HE LEFT!!! SO DISAPPOINTED!
