This place will always hold a special place in my heart! A few specific things that I want to call out, as I have found them incredibly valuable to me over the years. -GBLB is independently owned. The owner, Abby, is engaged, thoughtful, and incredible with kids. She is easy to contact and responsive. (I feel compelled to mention that she also has expert level face painting skills that each of my kids have loved!) -The staff are equally wonderful and most have been there for the full 10 years we have been at GBLB. I have loved the consistency this has provided my family/kids and they have all been remarkable. -Everyone is communicative and collaborative. I felt like we were all on the same team supporting each of my kids in their individual needs.

I cannot say enough about the quality of care. Every teacher is extremely caring and loving. A lot of thought goes into planning of the curriculum each week. The children are very well cared for, educated, and have lots of fun along the way. The center, itself, is very well run, extremely clean, and each section is well thought out and very inviting and appealing to the eyes of a child. Children learn healthy habits, they learn to play and care for and get along with others, making long time friends along the way. As they age into the preschool years, the curriculum adjusts accordingly and they are well prepared for kindergarten. All Office for Children's requirements are strictly adhered to, and monitored regularly. Communication between the center & the family is top notch. I would highly recommend the center if you are looking for a warm, safe, loving and caring placement for your child while you are at work.

I knew I was going to send him to The Learning Garden (even though at the time they did not yet offer full-time care). If there was a better word for "supportive" I'd use it to describe the teachers, especially Mrs. Beth Downer. They make it easy to share personal stories about your kids. They have excellent listening skills meaning they don't interrupt and you can see they are really absorbing what you are sharing (regardless of how many loud kids there are in the background). Their eagerness to be on the same page as you makes you feel like you are part of a united team there to work together and to propel your child forward with love and care. Yes, this is only pre-school we're talking about but this school is much more than "just" a pre-school. The Learning Garden cares about the education they are providing. They understand the needs and wants of young children. They are not too pushy except when it was in the best interest for your child. In our experience we are so thankful that they cared so much about our kid's well-beings and their educational needs. Two of our children have experienced both their full day care (they were one of the first enrolled) as well as the part-time pre-school program. The school's curriculum, structure, and supportive environment are worth the investment. I can't wait to send our next child to The Learning Garden.

A Yelp member with only one review that is a 1 star is always suspect and I'm surprised that the Yelp filter did not hide it. In the time our child has been at Half Pints, everyone that works here have nothing but professional and bright. Cathy the owner is 100% the complete opposite of what the other reviewer stated. She is friendly, warm, engaging and an extremely knowledgeable at running a large daycare center. Any issues we have brought to her have always been handled right away and with extreme professionalism. She truly has always put our child's care first above of money. The comment about her being only concerned about money is actually laughable. We have always made our daycare payments on time. I'd imagine if parents were behind with their payments, they would be spoken to about it. Perhaps the other reviewer couldn't pay on time and got a warning, as they should. All the teachers at HPLC work extremely hard to care for our infants, toddler, and kids and they deserve to be paid for it. After going on many tours and comparing rates, they were right around the middle of the road. In fact, they are the only center we found that offer 10 days of free tuition to use for vacation or sick days. The co-directors, Cathy, Amy or any of the teachers at HPLC are always available to chat with or ask questions. It's a great comfort that they have a nurse on site, the co-director Amy. The center itself is modern, well equipped with toys, activities and is very safe with a security system and controlled access. The indoor gymnasium is an amazing addition that most centers do not have. Perfect for days it is too hot, wet or cold to go out in. Our child has been thriving here and has learned a lot from her teachers and socializing with other children. Everyone we have interfaced with has extensive knowledge and experience to be in this profession. I don't get the comment about teachers always being on phones. HPLC has a strict no phone during work policy and they enforce it. I highly recommend checking them out for your child.

**trigger warning on child abuse/ child harm**. I am posting this to warn parents about The…read moreLearning Experience here in Wilmington on Main Street being under investigation for child abuse/ child harm in preschool (3-4 years old). My 4 year old daughter had told me her 2 teachers in her preschool room grab her and other kids and hurt them when they're not listening or in trouble. She had bruises on her arms that look like fingerprints on three occasions. I reported this to the director, provided pictures, and both teachers were put on an administrative leave since 5/2. The investigation is still ongoing and active, yet the director and her boss have allowed them to come back as of this past Thursday 5/18. The Director said the reason is due to staffing in the room and having kids get back to a routine. This choice to allow people around kids who are under an active investigation is putting the business over child safety. I pulled my daughter from the center and I told the parents directly who have kiddos in the room. There are multiple kids impacted. My daughter and other kids have also said they get "taddle tickets" if they're telling on others in the class. It's incredibly disturbing to tell 3 and 4 year olds not to speak up or they get these red taddle tickets, and it's probably the reason other parents didn't know - putting a system in place to promote kids not to speak up or feel it's not ok to speak up. There have been no incident reports provided on how she got the bruises, and she has been very clear on what happened by telling me, the director, and the DCF case manager. It's been most devastating to hear her crying saying things like "It's all my fault and it's ok if my teachers hurt me. I just want to see my friends." She's looking at the removal from the center as another punishment rather than an effort to keep her safe. I will say, we've used TLE since 2018 and have encountered some amazing, caring teachers, but this is not acceptable what The Learning Experience management is allowing right now. The fact that TLE management, and possibly the Department of Early Education, are allowing teachers back who are under an active investigation for hurting kids is sickening and is very poor management. Please do not use this place for childcare.

Sent pictures in app of him happy and playing only to be told during this call he is never settled and never plays. When questioned the owner Urvi said "admittedly teachers are very selective about capturing the child's happier moments" eluding that it wasnt the real situation with our child just an illusion. How does a child acclimate within just 5/6 visits to a new school? When we would ask the teachers how he was doing we would get "he's having better days, pockets here and there but better". This phone call was refuting these images and all we were told by the teacher reason being not to upset us as parents. Pretty much lied to us up until this phone call all to keep the peace. How does a parent support a teacher or program if they aren't being given the truth? Oh that's right you call and ambush them with how your child cries all day long and they don't know what to do or how to handle them. When we mentioned that we feel the 2x per week probably wasn't helping him get used to the program and that he would benefit from consistency in days it was silence on their end. I brought up initial sign on conversation with owner Urvi about waitlisting and that she mentioned by the end of this calendar year beginning of next a 3 day a week spot should open. I was immediately put on hold. When the director came back on the line she said "What Urvi meant was there would be a spot if we opened another classroom and well we are having trouble finding staff , so that won't be happening anytime soon." Another colorful story sold to us! When I questioned as to why I was just hearing about all this struggle today she said that "maybe I made the mistake of telling your husband." I am sorry what, now you're inferring that 1) my husband and I don't communicate about our children and 2)that he is a liar. I responded with no we talk ritualistically every afternoon when he gets in the car at pickup and when they arrive home about how his day went. I never expected my child to seamlessly take to school, however to be told you're child is unmanageable when there is no substance behind said claims is bizarre. These claims become even crazier when fictitious conversations come into play and what you're seeing in black and white via images on the app are in fact manipulated to create a facade. What should also be noted here is my child has a provisional diagnosis of autism which the school was not only made aware of but supported by me sending in early intervention services. I tell you this because during this phone call the director picked apart my child's behavior almost mocking him to be honest. In the conversation about him not playing "He walks around the playground hanging on to the ball." Well if you're any sort of "educator" you would know a trait of autism is special interests and this is not an uncommon behavior. BUT thank you for condescendingly pointing out how inept you truly are to handle a child that is not neurotypical. Do not take anything about this school at face value. The stories and faces are many and it's not pretty when they show their true self. Glad I got my child out of there before he was permanently traumatized. Please see picture attached for how "never ever settled, cries all the time" my son is. It's all just for the parents at the cost of the kids-when you add marker it makes it sting less.
