It seems as though everyday, the team is just trying to "make it through the day". Every morning at drop-off, the toddler and infant classrooms are clearly over ratio and chaotic. There are constant teacher callouts. My daughter's teacher is out numerous times a week for one reason or another. This forces my child to be placed in a different room, proving that there is no consistency. The teachers that do show up everyday, are CLEARLY burnt out. I feel bad for them. Additionally, a majority of the staff lack any educational expertise and seem to view this job as glorified babysitting. Management seems to hire anyone who walks through the door just so they can enroll more families and make more money. This puts a heavy burden on the good staff. No quality curriculum is taking place. My kids never come home with any artwork or projects. The kids are just not learning anything. The center is filthy. I don't think anyone knows how to sweep or mop. I have had to step through my child's classroom to get their backpack and I am disgusted with the state of the classrooms. I truly believe the teachers are so burnt out, they are just too tired to clean. And it shows. There are a handful of wonderful teachers who seem to care about the kids; but unfortunately, that is way overshadowed by the negative vibes in this place. There is a child in my son's preschool classroom (Kairo is the child's name) that has extremely aggressive and violent behavior. My child fears going to class because of him. I have spoken with the Director Heather numerous times about this and it seems nothing is being done and my concerns are being pushed aside. This child needs special help that he cannot get in a large group setting. I know multiple parents have the same concerns about this child. I am in search of another daycare and soon as I get a spot, I will be dis-enrolling immediately.

The staff is talented and committed. There is a parent participation component, as with all cooperative programs. This is something that drew me to the program. I was amazed my first year how varied people's situations are - one or both parents working outside the home part or full time, nanny's, grandparents and family friends helping out at pick-up and drop-off, as well as moms and dads working as stay-at-home parents. I didn't carpool, but some families arranged carpools. I often swapped child-care of my youngest daughter (when my oldest was in school) on parent-help days and then would watch another family's younger child when it was their turn. I've benefited from the sense of community at the school, and the chance to have a few hours every month or so to be with my child at school. The best part though is the positive experience my children have had at the school, developing social skills and learning through play.

It is a cooperative program, so you have to be open to that aspect. I personally loved helping in the classroom and getting to observe my child interacting with his friends. There are some volunteer components -- one work day a year to help maintain the school and grounds and service on one committee -- but they certainly aren't onerous. It's not for everyone, but so far I've found it very manageable as a working parent. The other parents are very supportive and open to switching schedules. I'm new to town, so I've found it a valuable way to meet other people and find a sense of community. The curriculum is play-based, so the focus is more on developing imagination, healthy social interaction, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing how the curriculum develops as my son progresses.

Once Kimberly opened a toddler room, we enrolled our second daughter.  Within 2 weeks we saw an immediate improvement in her verbal skills.  When she arrived she was only saying a few words, but now she is speaking sentences, singing ABCs, counting.  After showing interest in the potty, she is well on her way to being potty trained.  Kimberly has helped us with the horrible transition of bye bye binky.  As a full-time working parent, it is great to know that my children have wonderful care.  I get progress reports daily.  Food is provided, so I only have to pack pullups and a change of clothes.   If it is one of those days and I forget something, no worries, they have extras.  I couldn't be more pleased with the education and care my children have received at PSA.

This anxiety quickly vanished largely due to the caring, cheerful, and helpful attitudes of the teachers and center director. We love Preschool Social Academy. The facility has been recently renovated and it bright, clean, and inviting to preschoolers and toddlers. I can not emphasize CLEAN enough! As a healthcare professional I have a very critical eye when it comes to cleanliness and this school gets very high marks in my book. The school also offers lunch and snacks for students prepared on site in, again a very new and clean kitchen. This is so helpful as we don't have to worry about packing a daily lunch or snacks for our picky preschooler; we know she will be served only organic meals with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Finally, the teachers are amazing! They are patient, encouraging, and accommodating, and I get daily praise from my preschooler about Ms Emily and Ms Kelly. They teach a diverse curriculum that is shared with parents via a daily progress report that focuses on developing both social and academic skills, with plenty of room for fun. We are so happy with our choice for preschool that we were recently offered a spot at a prestigious and more convenient preschool (that we had been waitlisted for earlier this year) and declined because we are confident that our daughter is getting the best care at Preschool Social Academy.
