Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. During my second visit for a procedure, I was asked to pay more than $100 for a copay. I contacted my insurance company and was told that I should not have had a copay for the service. When I explained this to the front desk, instead of helping me resolve the issue, they canceled my child's appointment right in front of me and told me, in a very aggressive manner, that I could leave. My child was in pain, and as a parent, my priority was simply getting the care my child needed. I decided to take my child to another dentist for a second opinion. The new dentist requested the X-rays from this office. Despite making several requests, I am still waiting to receive them. I am sharing my experience because choosing a dentist for your child is an important decision. Positive reviews were one of the main reasons I chose this office, but unfortunately, my personal experience was very different. I hope other parents consider this experience before deciding where to take their children, particularly when their child is already in pain and needs care.

They got…read moreso bad to the point that our original pediatric dentist couldn't fix them in his primary care office. He told us we needed to go somewhere that will be able to put him under general anesthesia as he is too young and finicky to be able to just have nitrous oxide. So I researched several places and this one came up with great reviews for Dr Sybil. Ultimately, we liked her and had the procedure done. We received a call from the anesthesiologist the night before to review everything and went in at 8am to begin- luckily it was too early for him to eat breakfast and he had to be NPO anyway. Dr Sybil and the rest of the team reassured us and reviewed everything before they began. My husband took our child in, they put a mask on and he was out in less than a minute. Then we waited in a small meeting room while they did his dental work. Around 11am, Dr Sybil came out to tell us everything went well, that they were waiting for him to wake up and that they will get us before he really wakes up so he wouldn't be too scared. Grateful to Dr Sybil, Dr Rivero (anesthesia) and Nancy (paramedic) for their awesome job. And thanks to the staff for checking on us and offering refreshments! Great place for kids and excellent customer service.

The waiting room was clean & has complimentary refreshments, coffee, seltzer, & juices. And a playroom just for kiddies. Dr.Sybil & Moe were very friendly and good with my daughter. She just sat in the chair and was very comfortable with her experience. I was so surprised to see my baby so cooperative. Since she always struggles to brush her teeth at home. The first call was my wife who had explained the situation and we needed to see someone ASAP. She was put on hold only to be told that there was nothing for another 1.5 weeks. I called immediately after to appeal since he was in constant pain and was unable to eat for two days (we'd been to the ER and they only put on a layer that came off the next day--the office was closed Sunday and Monday). Suddenly, the receptionist's tone changed and we were shut down that they couldn't take us and had no alternative suggestions for us. About an hour later, Dr. Ioannou called me directly to make it right. He found a way for Dr. Matt to see us immediately. When we showed up, we were seen very quickly. And while the tooth had to be extracted, they were great with my son. (I've never done this before but I deleted an older post I made because of how quickly Dr. Ioannou responded and how friendly they were to my son; I was not asked to remove it or edit my post in any way)

They were his front teeth and for whatever reason they disintegrated at a fast pace and I took good care of his oral hygiene knowing his genetically prone to have bad teeth like me. I contacted the office regarding a billing issue and was instructed by the billing manager, Odwin, to contact my insurance company to dispute the charge myself. After spending considerable time on the phone with my insurance provider, I was informed that the problem did not originate with the insurance company, but rather with the office's billing process. What frustrated me most was not only being given incorrect information, but also the way I was treated during the interaction. The billing manager was rude and disrespectful, and after the error was identified, there was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused and no apology. Patients should not have to spend their own time resolving internal billing errors, especially while being treated unprofessionally. While I continue to appreciate the dentists and staff who provide excellent clinical care, my experience with the billing department left me very discouraged. I hope the office addresses these concerns so that other families do not have a similar experience.

Before our next visit, the office called to confirm the appointment and told me I had no outstanding balance and would not be charged again for the cleaning. I went in and was charged again. More recently, I was told my daughter had a cavity and needed treatment. Because of everything that had happened, I took her to another local dentist for a second opinion. After examining her and reviewing her X-rays, that dentist told me they did not see evidence of a cavity. I can only speak to my own experience, but between the billing issues and the second opinion, I no longer feel comfortable continuing treatment at DAFKO. It is very disappointing after being a patient there for so many years.
