The woman told me to come in and they would let me know the price, which is understandable as I know all dresses are different. I then proceeded to let her know my timeline and she said OK if it was a simple shortening, it shouldn't be a problem. She told me she left at 5, but they were open till 6:30 and considering the type of alteration I was looking for, it wouldn't be a problem for me to come in anyway. So I drive there, walk in and a gentleman is steaming clothes, didn't even look at me, and asked what I needed. I told him, and still not making eye contact with me, he told me sorry we are booked up until mid September. I proceeded to explain I talked to someone already as I needed the dress sooner than September, and he again, didn't acknowledge me, and just said ok then and proceeded to steam. I was shocked he didn't even give me the time to look at my dress or hear out that I had talked to someone on the phone already, or just simply kindly explain they couldn't do it. Was hoping to find a new alterations shop i could rely on, but it unfortunately will not be here. Just to add, as I am reading other reviews, I agree that the owner gave off the vibe that I was bothering him and he could have cared less that I was a potentially paying customer.

Jenkins Cleaners - This is the clergy robe that was ruined by this company. The left is before, Right is after and ruined with some bleach!! DO NOT TRUST!!!

As the pastor of Shiloh AME Zion Church in Statesville, NC, we have been using Jenkins Dry Cleaners…read morefor over 20 years, well before my time as pastor. While their work has never been perfect, it was adequate enough to keep using their services--until now. My recent experience with them has left me not only disappointed but frustrated with their lack of professionalism and care. I sent in a white robe with beautiful gold metallic embroidery purchased from Mercy Robes in Georgia. The robe, valued at $280-$290, which had been cleaned by this company multiple times without issue, came back ruined. The once vibrant gold embroidery on the chest and sleeves had turned into a flat, unappealing orange. The robe, which had previously been a showpiece, is now unwearable. Upon contacting Jenkins Dry Cleaners, I hoped to resolve the situation amicably. Instead, I was met with a dismissive, condescending attitude from the owner or manager. His explanation? "That's just fading." However, this was not normal fading. The entire embroidered area had turned the same appalling orange color, which clearly indicated that some kind of agent had been improperly applied to the fabric. Fading does not change the entire color in such a uniform way. I have had this robe cleaned before by both Jenkins and other cleaners, and no such issue has ever occurred until now. When I suggested that they should replace the robe given the extent of the damage, the owner refused. His reasoning? He claimed the robe had depreciated in value because it had been cleaned before, and therefore, they shouldn't be responsible for covering the full cost of the robe. The only offer of rectification was to "give me a little something back," but not nearly enough to compensate for the fact that this once beautiful robe is now unwearable. To add insult to injury, there was no apology offered, no acknowledgment of their mistake, and certainly no genuine effort to make things right. After over 20 years of our church's loyalty to Jenkins Dry Cleaners, this is the treatment we received. I have attached pictures to this review showing what the robe looked like before (even the day before it went in) and what it looks like now. The difference is clear, and it is unacceptable. I urge anyone considering their services to think twice. If you care about your garments and expect any level of professionalism or honesty, Jenkins Dry Cleaners is not the place. We will not be using their services again, and I would advise others to avoid them as well.
