The following day I received a follow up message from Technics offering no charge for removal and no tax on installation, I couldn't refuse such an offer. And they handle all the…read moreinsurance claim stuff for you (a State Farm preferred vendor), which just makes it all so much easier. About four months ago, we arranged for them to replace the windshield on our 2020 MB GLE, due to a badly spreading crack caused by a rock that a big rig kicked up (that was the second one for this car... GRRRR). It took about a week or so, but they were able to get the legit Mercedes factory glass we wanted, and then installed it quickly and as scheduled. The facility is very clean and nicely decorated, with a comfortable waiting area, and a break room that is open to customers. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when we got a starburst chip caused by yet another rock kicked up by a sloppy truck driver who drifted onto the debris-filled emergency shoulder for no reason (jeez...so aggravating... feels like this car is a magnet for rocks!). So, we called up to see about another replacement windshield (this would've been our third, and those babies are not cheap), but they said they could do a repair instead. And, since we bought the glass from them less than a year ago, the repair would be free! Woohoo! The repair was extremely quick and easy, with no appointment needed. And while the starburst is still visible, it's very low on the passenger side, and the repair should keep it from growing into a full fledged crack. Considering the number of miles we spend roadtripping, the likelihood of yet another rock makes us glad not to have to buy more glass until it's absolutely necessary! They totally did not have to volunteer the free repair info, especially since we were already prepared to buy a new windshield. Cannot emphasize enough how very much we appreciate that level of service and integrity. We are moving out of Texas soon, but if we need glass work done again, and if we are passing even sort of close to the area, we will go out of our way to get the work done here. They're just awesome folks.
