Great surgeon--shady business practices
I used this office because the surgeon is a preferred provider with my insurance. Imagine my surprise when the office charged me upfront for the surgery--I've never had a preferred provider charge me anything but a copay until the bill is settled. But that's not all. They charge *twice* for each implant--two different charges--even though my insurance company states that they allow only one charge and will disallow any "broken out" fees. And they also--in my case, at least--refused to calculate my bill using the PDP schedule (the Preferred Provider maximum charges). (They claimed they "didn't have to.") This meant that they overcharged me by thousands of dollars!
Now the insurance company has settled the claim and says I owe only half what this office charged me. But the office refuses to pay up. They claim it's "your policy, not ours," so it's my problem that the insurance company doesn't support their shady practices--even though they signed a contract with my insurance company. They claim they'll pay me my money only when the insurance company "corrects" the claim. The insurance company says it's correct already. read more
