I am amending my review. The experience sadly plummeted from the lovely visits I had with the patrons and staff last year. It was my favorite lounge in the area and I was looking forward to spending more time there this year. I'm not sure if there was a change in ownership or management or what, but I won't be returning. The vibe went from feeling like a welcome guest to feeling like an unwanted nuisance. Your mileage may vary. That said, their humidor does have a decent selection at a ok price point. read more

I really love coming here any time I'm in Myrtle beach. The selection of cigars is vast, the prices are fair, and the service is amazing. I came in to relax from the sun and was greeted immediately. I was checked on and asked if I needed help to guide me through choosing a cigar and also offered a cut and light. It was pleasing to be attended to so well. The humidity on their stock seems to be maintained excellently and I just appreciate the sense of community and belonging you get here. read more

Visited the store on 5/30 with my son...l made a purchase and stepped to the side however my son went into the cigar room and continued to shop and since I was not sure if he was still in the store I peeped through the door into the cigar room at which time the man behind the counter advised me that "I told him you was ready and he said okay" I NEVER ASKED HIM TO TELL MY SON ANYTHING. After leaving the store I spoke with my son and he advised the man had come into the room and asked if he was with the lady and my son told him yes at which time he told my son I was ready to go. Yes we were the only two African Americans in the store and if she didn't see us you definitely didn't hear us....I guess this was his way of letting us know we was not welcomed at the property and we looked forward to visiting when we come to the beach buy never again read more

Great selection of sticks, and some we have never had or seen. Very helpful staff as well. We really enjoyed the lounge area and great conversation with others. One other thing, I have never been in the Broadway at the Beach area as we thought it was like a place you had to pay to get into. It isn't. This is a free standing place. We were walking through the park when I noticed a Montecristo patio umbrella followed by the scent of a good cigar. Much to my surprise I was actually looking for the Tinder Box and here it was. The shop has an extensive selection of great cigar brands within the extremely large humidor, they also have just about anything you would need in terms of accessories. Of course the best feature of this great shop is the staff and customer service. I had the pleasure of visiting with Roger while I was there shopping, he was a great guy to talk to and get some feedback. I also noticed during the time I spent there that this is a community in itself and everyone takes care of each other, very impressive. They do have a small lounge within the shop as well as some outdoor seating, a great environment to sit back and smoke a stick to two. I enjoyed this shop so much I came back later in the evening after a show to pick up a few more sticks and smoke one outside while enjoying conversation of a fellow cigar aficionado. Excellent cigar store with very reasonable prices, especially for being dead smack in a tourist trap. I knew I wanted me an Acid blondie delicoso, and the wife simply chose hers based on packaging. She liked it so much, she wanted more. The only problem was we were already home from vacation, and didn't remember the name. So I called them up, asked what cigar had circles on the cigar, we think, and the very nice guy went to the case and got us the name based on an ok at best description.....moontrance! Thank you sir! Never smoked cigars before but was on vacation from New Jersey and wanted to check this place out. Let me just say the customer service is IMMACULATE. They explained everything and were honest throughout the whole process even though we only bought 4 cigars. We did come back the next day (the day that I am writing this) to buy more because we just loved the service. I tried the chocolate one that was $5 and it tasted amazing, I bought a Java Chocolate one that was a little more bigger and at a $10 price point. I just visited this store last night while the family and I were at Broadway on the Beach for Tuesday night fireworks. The store itself was a little small, but the selection was great. The staff were all very polite and knowledgeable. They not only took time to chat, but to answer a few questions I had about flavor profiles of a couple cigars I was considering. This place is an absolute model for what customer service is supposed to be! I took my first trip here on a family vacation last year, and I met the owner, Betsy. She was amazing! She taught me a lot about cigars, the process of making cigars, and answered every question I had. I bought a couple and left really impressed with the owner and the great store she has. A year later (the other day), I returned to MB with my family and would now consider myself knowledgeable on cigars, having spent a year learning and sampling. I bypassed all of the other cigar shops in the area to return to Tinder Box because of the experience I had a year earlier. This time I was greeted by Stan, and the customer experience was every bit as outstanding as it was a year ago. I asked Stan to recommend some items that I would not be able to find at home, and he immediately took me to some exciting finds. This trip I bought a handful of cigars, and my wife mentioned how happy I seemed to spend my money at this shop (we have several great shops at home). I remarked that sometimes the combination of great product and outstanding customer service just separates one business from all others...that is certainly the case with Tinder Box. This has become my new favorite hangout in Myrtle Beach. The Yale Brothers and Betsy take hospitality to a new level. This is not just an outlet store that sells fine cigars, this is a gathering place that promotes discussions on good music, good foods, good wines and what's going on in the area. There is no problem with watching a lazy afternoon go up in smoke here (had to say it). This is my favorite place to visit at Broadway at The Beach. I would definitely take friends here when they visit from out town and I would recommend it to anyone. Selection is both vast and superior and you never know whom you're going to meet here or what you're going to learn. Don't think of this as a cigar store. Only reason this isn't five stars is because this is the first cigar shop I have purchased from that does not have house blends. Great selection across the taste bud spectrum. I thought since it was located within the touristy boardwalk Beach whatever place that the prices would be raised. Not the case. Fair pricing throughout. I called with a simple request.."What are your prices on HUMIDORS?"... In which they responded "$29.95 up to about $150". I then proceed to drive 20 miles (each way) to buy the cheapest "humidor" they "had"... When I arrive they showed me a box with no humidifying device included... Clearly this is NOT A HUMIDOR. IT IS A BOX. I understand since you're at a vacation hot spot, in a prime location, that you need to pay higher rent. Ripping people off and telling them you have something you do not actually have in hopes of selling them on something you do have that is 5x higher is FRAUD AND A SCAM.
