There's a bit of an Asian flair here and there too. The color scheme tends towards middle to darker hues. Rich tones are the mainstay here. There was an middle aged man working there. He did come up from the back of the store to greet me and see if I needed anything. I like it when someone gets off their butts to greet customers, instead of just calling across the room. So anyways. I spent maybe 15 minutes looking around at all the things I can't afford. But if I could, I'd be swipeing some plastic in this place for sure. I'm definitely that crazy plant lady and have been for quite a while. This shop is in downtown Lancaster just around the corner from Main St. It has giant windows in the front and street parking, which I found easily. I absolutely love their aesthetic and how they make the plants front and center. They have a ton of indoor plants and succulents and even rare plants that I can't find at a typical nursery. They also source a lot of beautiful pottery from all around Ohio. Some are even made close to my hometown of Zanesville. I love how they support other creatives. The shop manager was super informative and friendly and the owners are just as special. I'm excited to see them expanding into smaller communities and Lancaster is really lucky to have them. Everything in this market is sourced from local Ohio artisans and vendors. They have a small selection each of lots of different types of things. They sell jewelry, candles, baked goods, wines, dairy, meats and handmade crafts - among other things. I picked up a sweet handmade baby bib for a gift and could not leave without trying a "monster" cookie from a local home baker. They also run a farmers market which starts the first week in May in downtown Lancaster. A perfect place to shop local.

Keller Market House sells everything from fresh-cut flowers to meat to home cleaning products to baked goods and more. They have a nice little section of fresh produce, which, when I visited, was mostly squashes, potatoes and other winter vegetables. They have lots of gluten-free goods, and I picked up some maple crunchy things as a gift for a gluten-free person I knew. The selection is pretty good, and the store has been clean and mostly welcoming both times I've been there. However, what broke it for me was when the owner told me he didn't have time to read any comics himself. I had stopped in one afternoon after work out of curiosity and subsequently struck up a friendly shop talk conversation with him. He seemed knowledgeable enough about the broad strokes of comics both as a medium and an industry, but I couldn't get past his lack of reading. Would you go to a mechanic that didn't drive a car? Would you eat at a nice restaurant if the chef only ate PB&Js? In a niche industry like comics, people crave community, and I just didn't feel it at Journey into Comics.
