My wife and I rented tables for our wedding. First, when we got the tables they were dirty and we had to clean them ourselves. After the wedding, we had the pleasure of paying an extra $100 for a second pickup charge, and $36 for magnets that the company put on our balloon clouds, we didn't even ask for these magnets but are being charged for them anyways, and then we got in trouble with the hall we were renting for the way they were installed. Also, this company wants $200 for a broken table with a supposedly warped leg. When we were discussing it with the company, and the wife was getting upset for having to deal with the stress of this, instead of trying to stay calm with her, the person got bitchy with her, and its never a good idea to try to be a bitch with a newlywed bride. all in all a poor service all around. Tims Rental in Bowmanville My experience with Tim's rental started out good. I wanted to rent a wood chipper, so I booked it from Tim's rental 3 weeks prior to when I needed it. I lined up all the labor I would need, and rented a truck to pick up the chipper. I was told to come by between 4 and 6 to pick it up on a Friday. So, I came in at 5 on the Friday for the weekend that I booked it and was told it was double booked!! They refused to help me out at that point. No option to book another chipper, refused to call the customer who should not have it as they did not book it. So, I re-booked it for the following weekend. This time the pick up was fine. A little annoying to do it twice, but I didn't mind as they told they would give me a discount due to the double booking. The weekend we used the machine, and I returned it Sunday evening. I returned it in front of their store behind a big truck and hid the key. I tried calling the store to explain what I have done but no answer and no answering service? I want to mention before I rented the chipper, I was told nothing about drop off or how to properly return the chipper. I assumed bringing it back to Tim's and hiding it behind a big truck and hiding the key would be enough. I called Tim's the very next morning when they opened and explained to them what I have done. They said nothing to me, said it was fine and thanked me. I went in today and picked up my receipt for the rental. I asked where the discount for double booking was? They told me because I neglected to return it properly they would refuse a discount. I explained to them that no one said anything to me about drop off, when, where, how? They expected me to return it at 7 am on Monday when they opened. Well, like most people I have a job. By 7 am on Monday I was getting into my work day. So dropping it off Monday morning and missing work to do so was not an option. I had no choice but to drop it off Sunday evening. If this is such a big problem Tim's Rental needs to explain to their customers what they want for drop off!! They seemed nice to my face, but dealing with them afterwards was/is a nightmare. I will not, nor will any of my friends or family ever give Tim's Rental business. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! So in the end. The did not give me discount as promised for their error. Second, they failed to explain what they wanted in machine drop off. Making the customer feel as they did something wrong, when in fact its Tim's Rental not stating what they want from the start. read more

We rented a BBQ for a family birthday party, and although the BBQ itself was fine, the service was terrible. They argued over the return date, didn't give me any information or instructions, and when I returned it they charged me extra for not cleaning it well enough. I would not recommend using them unless you are very careful and understand everything about whatever you are renting. As well you'll need to take Monday off work as they don't allow a return on Sundays. read more

Very unhappy with Tim's Party Rentals. Balloons burst after leaving the store. The coffee and tea urns stunk so badly of must that we had to clean them with vinegar before we could use them. Some of the chairs were dirty as well. When I went into the store and mentioned what we went through the woman's only comment was :"I didn't pack your order". I reserved one of their games (Plinko) back in May for my sisters Jack & Jill in June. When I went in in May they had three plinko games, two newer ones and one old. One of the newer ones was already reserved leaving the old one and 1 new one left. After looking at the games I requested to reserve the new one for a number of reasons. One of them being the condition they were in and the size of it. I could see at a distance through the shop and numerous items piled in front of it that the older one was in rough shape. There were chunks of wood missing from the edges of it. It was aweful! I even questioned at the time why they were still renting that one as it had seen better days. The new ones were in much better shape. Fast forward to June when my dad goes to pick it up. He is told that they messed up and sent out all the new ones and all that is left is the old game. My dad took it knowing that I still needed it. After looking at it closely it was in worse shape then I thought. When I called Tims party centre to inquire about the mistake I was basically told either take it or leave it. They admitted to the mistake and apologized but it ended there. I even asked for my money back and they refused there was NO effort what's so ever to make this situation right. If I hadn't have planned my event around this game I would have told them to keep it. As a company they should be embarrassed by the condition of their rentals. Unfortunately prior to this situation my sister rented a few items for her wedding from them. Not going to lie after this I am extremely nervous with what she is going to get because clearly they don't care what their products look like. She was going to reserve her dishes and a few other items through them but after this she is going else where even if it costs more. I will NEVER rent from Tim's Party Centre again. read more

Just a warning about this company's air conditioning units. Instructions for the use of air conditioning systems don't come with the delivery person (he/she knows nothing about it and as well they may not come to the instructed door drop off ), nor does he point out that there is a little picture diagram (that I probably wouldn't have understood anyway), nor does anyone tell you that you need to add water when you've called them three times before the day of the event and talked to the service dept about how it works. Yes, I guess I will take responsibility for not calling them on the day to make sure I was doing it correctly but I thought I was smart enough to set the few simple buttons on the machine...guess I wasn't. Nope, didn't know I had to put water in it ...and even if I had known this I did not have a garden hose at a rented church hall to do this. Our church hall was stifling hot when we got there that night and elderly people in the community suffered greatly. And I guess it's not surprising that Susan the owner will not compensate me for this even a little bit. We are a small non-profit organization so our business doesn't really matter...a common thread in today's business world. read more

We planned a wedding and ordered plates, cutlery and glassware from Tim's Party Centre and the company was completely unprofessional from beginning to end. They did not deliver the correct amount of many of our items and charged these items that they failed to deliver as missing even though we called to tell them in advance that their count was incorrect. They forgot items when picking up and we called to let them know within 5 minutes of them leaving and they charged us an additional delivery AND labour charge for their own failure. We also drove to the store to return further glassware that they had not included as missing on their invoice and refused to reimburse us for them...they were completely unable to manage a large order. They also drove on our property and destroyed wooden lamps that we had bought for the wedding and denied any wrongdoing. Overall, this company charged us 65% over our original order for unjustified costs despite proof that they were in the wrong. Beyond that, Susan the owner is incredibly rude and not reasonable to talk to. Her own employees let us know that we had to "catch her on a good day". We have filed a BBB complaint and will file in small claims if this issue is not resolved. Do not rent from this company! read more
