The truth is that the quality, as far as new keys are concerned, with professionals at local stores like this, if often far better. At least that is my experience. Cobbler's Key also offer watch battery replacement, patching and stitching of clothes as well as providing a range of leather goods. They also do gardening tool sharpening! Although I can't imagine there is a huge demand for that around here.

They must use stronger materials because I walk a lot and the heels have minimal wear after 6 months. I recently had a seemingly unrepairable pair of boots repaired beautifully. Take your footwear here for repair if you want a shop that pays attention to detail, uses long lasting products and charges competitive prices. They cut keys too.

The larger/chain type cobblers seem to charge a fortune and the service is never that great. At Roseburn the service is excellent, the pricing very reasonable and the customer interface excellent. This is good old fashioned customer service at a fair price and as such they have guaranteed my lifetime customer loyalty! I can recommend without hesitation.....

It's lovely every time you find something a shoe repairs and locksmiths shop surviving independently in the big city. As you might expect they know their stuff. The shop has a fantastic smell that greets you when you enter. Shoes of all varieties rest on the shelves right around the back of the shop. It has atmosphere! The staff are friendly and were honest with change when I gave them a couple of pounds too much by accident. Prices are fair, even compared to the likes of Timpson. I think it's worth going out of your way to support shops like these, even if it means travelling a little further. Recommended!

The price was reasonable, and the workmanship looked fine - until I wore the boots and realised one heel was flat (good) and one slightly rounded (not really noticeable just looking at it, but I could definitely feel it). They've worn down a bit now so it's less intrusive, but was pretty annoying to begin with. Most recently I got a set of keys cut. I had to wait a little longer than normal due to a mix-up in what order jobs were being done in, but only a minute when they actually got done. It did cost me just under £15 for 3 keys though which feels steep, but perhaps is average.

As it happens, I had two pairs of boots that were in desperate need of being rehealed, so, shortly before a winter break, I took them in to get repaired. No problem, but due to the time of year (December, busy) they wouldn't be ready until the following Tuesday. Absolutely fine. Of course I then failed to go in a collect them on the Tuesday, and so left it utterly last minute thinking I'd just pick them up on the Wednesday morning on my way in to work (suitcase in tow as I was flying out that afternoon). Fail. Hutton's was shut for their own holiday. And to be fair to them, as soon as I saw the signs saying "Shut Wednesday 2nd - Monday 7th" I realised they had been up the previous week, I'd read the signs and then immediately forgotten about them. This left my in a shoe dilemma, as I'd gone out wearing wellies, and required an emergency purchase from the ever-reliable New Look. When I did manage to go in and collect the shoes, they'd done a great job. The cost of getting two pairs of boots rehealed was just over £16. I have no idea of how expensive or otherwise this is, but it seemed fair. The heals are flat, which is something other cobblers have failed at (why would I want convex heals?!), so they get an immediate thumbs up for that and will earn my repeat custom.

It's an independent family owned shop which has been in business for close to a century now. I'm from the area and asked older folk and they said it had been run by the Hutton family since as long as they could remember. After some further research online, it turns out it was opened in 1923 by the grandfather of the current master cobbler, Ian Hutton. Not just a cobblers, they also cuts keys and other jobs like that. Eventually, one shop pointed me to Timpsons. This shop saved me! Next day it was fixed and good as new and at a great price too! However, their key cutting is somewhat questionable, as my flatmates new keys from this shop broke only 3 weeks afterwards. So, as far as show repair is concerned, I would most definitely head to this shop, the guy is friendly and chatty and my shoe is still intact.

I've been here a couple of times to get shoes re-heeled and maybe it's the fact that it is quite a traditional trade but you sort of feel like you're getting the kind of service your grandparents bemoan the lack of on this day and age. He always gives you some good chat and clearly has good relationship with all his customers and staff and when you're in there everyones in on the joke!

I had a mini- freak out when I realised that the shoes needed to be fixed and I would need a 24 hour turnaround on it. But, there was no need to worry as when I popped into SOS he guy said "oh, that'll just take two minutes to fix" and while I waited he told me about how walking through grass can pull these bits out of shoes, and that there are bits and pieces of women's heels all over the Meadows. He then continued his small talk into work, my hen night (ok I may have brought that one up), etc, while he sorted my shoes. At the end of it, I parted with a mere £7 and was very pleased with myself. So, thumbs up to the friendly SOS guy.

Every now and then it becomes a necessity to get a key cut and not knowing much about this business…read morewe are more often than not going to find the nearest Timpson's and take the first offer they give. That is precisely what I did until I learnt better of it. If you go to Shoeperior, not only is it cheaper, but as far as I'm concerned you get better service and quality. I cannot recommend this shop any more highly and I've never been anything but impressed - they saved me money and at no cost to me in quality. In addition to this they also do shoe repairs. Unlike their key cutting I've no first hand experience of this, but those who have have been positive and I'm not surprised. It's well run and its staff clearly take pride in what they do.
