I had been on Instagram and Yelp for months just browsing when I had down time but nothing jumped out at me. I was wondering around Thornton Park when I passed by this salon. I looked them up and immediately made an appointment. Wes was amazing!!! I sat in his chair and explained to him what I was looking for and he completely understood and delivered I love my hair cut! The search is over I found my guy! This salon is somewhere you will look forward to going too. The atmosphere is unlike any other salon I've ever been too! Everyone is soooo friendly it's really like getting your hair cut with a bunch of friends. People stoping in with the dogs just to say hi, they know everyone on a first name basis. Jessica is so cool and easy to work with and talk to; we converse (and laugh) many times when my appointment is with Lashon. Jessica listened to my objectives and described a shorter haircut that would be perfect for me for the Florida summer. She used a razor to remove the weight of my hair but kept a similar style. She walked me through the process and explained everything in detail to make sure it was what I was looking for. I found out Jessica just taught her first class (on shags) and I can see why Phillip has such high confidence in her abilities. I booked an appointment at the beginning of the week for a curly cut. When booking, there was only…read moreone option for the stylist followed by a quick survey that asked for pictures of my current hair and desired cut. I was sure to fill this out immediately. When I arrived to the salon (again, DAYS after booking the appt), I was asked to wait to meet my stylist. I was brought back to her chair where she asked me to describe what I'd like. She proceeded to say that she did not feel comfortable cutting my hair type. While I am grateful that she did not jump in while unsure, I did find it pretty upsetting that the stylist and the salon chose to handle this embarrassing situation in front of other clients rather than calling me beforehand or even speaking with me at the front of the salon. Likewise, I have a difficult time understanding the purpose of submitting pictures in advance (which the stylist stated she saw), but then waiting until after I have driven to the salon to discuss. J. Bauman was actually in the salon while this was happening and offered no reassurance or alternative. He sat on his phone in the front of the salon while the stylist told me how "awkward" the situation was. The best that they could provide was asking me to come in a different day (mind you this haircut was for my graduation the next day.) If you have textured, curly hair, I'd be extremely wary of booking with the curly cut stylist and this salon in general. I found that EDUCE down the road was a similar price point with a much more understanding and qualified staff.

Honestly, from what I've observed while sitting in the chair, they are all excellent in their field as well as in customer service. Cindy asks each visit how my hair has been doing and will make suggestions about what we should do during that visit. I love her. I write this review during a pandemic when most of us are staying home and the salon had to close for everyone's safety. One day I received a text from Kendall asking if I would like her to deliver a color kit so I could color my roots. Now THAT is customer service above and beyond. Luckily, a friend came to the rescue and recommended Anna at Bella Mia. Bella Mia is located on the back side of the Maitland Exchange, just past the Publix Plaza on 17/92 in Maitland.
