Tim is truly the best hair stylist I have ever encountered. I have been getting smoothing treatments, color treatments and hair cuts from him for 8 years now. I am someone who works out nearly every day, which means I wash my hair pretty much every day. I also don't own a blow dryer. Tim's smoothing treatment allows me to have the absolute smoothest, yet insanely voluminous gorgeous hair for months with NO EFFORT. I can't tell you how many times I get complimented on its shine and beauty even when I'm at the gym lol. He also doesn't use any of the formaldehyde treatments, which I have had before and I MUCH prefer the results of Tim's smoothing treatment over a Brazilian blowout, any day, no question. My hair always feels healthier leaving his salon then when I walked in, which is rare. Tim is beyond thorough when he works with your hair, something that is really important to me if I'm paying for a smoothing treatment, because if this is rushed, or not executed properly you are just wasting money. Tim knows the chemistry of all the products he uses for these treatments and he understands how they interact with the type of hair you have on an insane level which helps him guide you to the best possible choices when choosing color or when combining treatments in the same visit. Tim never double/overbooks, and always spaces appointments out so he isn't rushed which again, results in the best possible outcome for the client. Tim is also one of the kindest, funniest individuals to know. If you are going to spend multiple hours getting your hair done with a stylist, you certainly want it to be Tim! Tim use to have an amazing salon in San Francisco (where I live) I love his new salon in Sac, the decor, vibe and experience it provides while getting your hair done is very luxurious. I have no choice but to continue getting my hair done with him, because no one provides the quality and experience he does (I've searched high and low in SF to no success). So yes, I make the drive from San Francisco to Sacramento, but it is worth every penny and moment in traffic to have great hair! I tried several hair stylists after moving to Sacramento from the Bay Area and was delighted to find Tim. He has a lovely private salon - you and Tim are the only ones there during your appointment! Tim listens to your ideas and makes some suggestions of his own. He does a great job with highlights, low lights and gray coverage!. I love his product line of hair products. They have really helped keep my hair healthy. Tim gives me options of a smooth blow out or this super cute curled look - my hair has a lot of natural curl. I'm never going anywhere else. This is the best salon I have ever been to and I mean it through and through. I think I might be what's considered a difficult client: I know what I want or maybe it's more that I know what I don't want, but I don't know how to achieve it...My hair isn't what I'd call especially manageable and it gets thrown up most days just to get it out of sight, out of mind. Timothy is patient, knowledgeable, and helped me make the best choice for myself. He is absolutely a pleasure to chat with and I was very comfortable with his COVID-19 precautions. His studio is cozy, light-filled, and clean. As for my hair, I ended up getting the smoothing treatment and a cut to tidy up my at-home haircut. It took me a few days to get used to a new routine and learn how to style my new hair type, but it was VERY easy and low maintenance. I have the Aura Botanica Kerastase shampoo, which smells great and is gentle on my scalp, and his suggested styling products have been useful for achieving the look I wanted. My old hairstylist of 5 years recently moved to Mexico City leaving me no choice but to find a new one. I held off getting a haircut until I couldn't take it anymore. Going to a new stylist gives me anxiety, because often time they do extra circular activities that I don't like and cutting Asian hair needs attention to detail. I'm more of a "less is more" kinda guy and I hate when my haircut looks too fresh. Tim listened to my directions and he did something pretty novel: before he did something new, he would explain what he is about to do. This allowed me to tell him yes or no or don't take too much off. My cut was exactly what I wanted. I'll def be coming back and I'm relieved I have someone I can go to. read more

Timothy Scott I adore Tim! I had colored my hair myself and I needed a color correction. My hair had a very reddish brown color and I wanted to cool it down. I asked Tim if he could give me a silvery brown. He got all the red out and gave me the silvery brown I wanted...exactly the shade I was trying to achieve. I am so happy Timothy Scott has a salon in Sacramento! I've been going to him for quite some time and I love my hair. He is sooo good! He listens and understands exactly what you want. It's the right cut every time and I love my color, it looks so natural. Beyond the hair--this is important--is the experience. Going to Tim feels like a luxury for myself. My pet-peeve is long reviews, but I do understand the need sometimes. The bullet points for this review however is: 1. Timothy really wants to help people with their hair 2. He is extremely good at what he does. I contacted Timothy in desperate need, it was 2 days before my wedding, I use something called keratin hair fibers to conceal my baldness, and my hairstylist familiar with these fibers canceled on me last minute. Timothy was one of the only stylists willing to listen, he was receptive and honest. He noted he had no experience with the fibers, he wanted to help but only if he could do what I was asking. He took his time, watched a video I sent him, and after reviewing the process gave me an appointment. On the day of my wedding I was truly stressed, lots on my mind but in terms of the hair, it was going to be an outside wedding in Sacramento at 4pm, projected weather was 96 degrees, my Sherwani was all white and fibers were black, there was a new stylist and I had so many thoughts running through my head, will my hair hold up to the heat, will the fibers get everywhere, and is he any good? As soon as I started talking to Timothy, my stress started melting away, he is a consummate professional, he is just really good at his craft, he took my concerns to heart, he used the keratin fibers better than my stylist who has years of experience and created exactly the look I wanted and one that was able to last through the heat for 8 hours. I've only had the pleasure of working with Tim for about a year, after my longtime stylist/colorist moved out of state. Can't tell you how thrilled I was when I found Tim!! I'll start by saying that I'm extremely particular about my hair. So much so, that I spent years teaching myself how to cut hair and eventually started cutting my own. I used to have a tight taper with a disconnected quiff on top. I'm no pro, but I promise you that with enough practice, fading your own hair well is possible... That said, scissor cutting a longer style just cannot be done on your own. After about 10 years of the same hairstyle, I had grown it out and decided it was time to do something new. I was anxious about the whole thing. I knew I wanted a change, but I wasn't quite sure what exactly I was looking for. My hair is a sort of thick, wavy texture that's tough to control. Having not paid for a haircut in so long, I honestly doubted that the experience would be worth it. Tim Scott absolutely exceeded my expectations. We spent a solid 15-20 minutes just looking at pictures and coming up with a plan for this cut. He taught me quite a bit about the how and why of specific types of shampoo and conditioner. As for the cut itself, he definitely took his time to ensure that every detail was perfect. Taking nothing away from barbers, he did something with his shears that could not be done with clippers. He checked at multiple points in the cut to be sure that I was happy with the way it was coming together. He even went back to make a few small revisions at the end. Once it was all done, he showed me a few different ways to style it - really working with the natural wave of my hair rather than fighting it. If you're scrolling through Yelp looking for someone in the Sacramento area who can do a proper men's scissor cut, Tim is the man. Tim's prices are about double what you'd pay for men's haircut elsewhere, but I can sincerely say - even after not spending a dime on a haircut for 10+ years - that this was worth it. read more

Tim gave me an awesome haircut! My hair was long because of the pandemic and I usually get it cut pretty short. Tim suggested I keep it short but not quite as short as I used to so I let him cut it as he suggested. I've gotten compliments from friends and coworkers.
