Azalea, Francee, and Liza are all super amazing people--kind, professional, and genuinely caring. Dr. Khemani is absolutely incredible. I have anxiety about going to the dentist, but Dr. Khemani's touch was so soft and gentle that I almost fell asleep in the chair! I never thought I'd say that about a dental visit. And the cherry on top--I met one of their amazing patients while leaving the office, and they couldn't stop saying great things about the staff either. That really says a lot! They even have amazing patients here. This office truly goes above and beyond to make patients feel at ease. I'm so grateful for the experience and couldn't recommend them more. If you're nervous about the dentist, this is the place to go!

I showed up for the appointment today, and the receptionist told me there was no record of it. Not just for today--there was no appointment under my name at all. Clearly something went wrong on their end. They apologized and asked if I could come back at 10:30, but my schedule is packed with meetings and I can't rearrange things on the spot. I understand mistakes happen, but as a first impression, this wasn't great. I needed reliability, and they couldn't deliver it. I'll be looking for another office that's better organized.

I had such a good experience at Castro Valley Advantage Dental. The front office team, Maria and…read moreVanessa, were extremely helpful and kind. They made everything feel easy and welcoming from the moment I walked in. I originally came in that morning for an Invisalign consultation and they recommended removing my wisdom teeth beforehand. I was honestly really scared and unsure at first, but later that day I decided to go through with it and they were able to fit me in the same day. Kyla and Dr. Yuen made me feel so comfortable and at ease. The procedure went by so quickly and I felt no pain, which really surprised me. They were very reassuring the whole time. Carlos also helped me earlier that morning with fixing my mouth guard and he was super informative and patient. Everyone there is so kind hearted and caring. I really appreciate them so much and would definitely recommend this office.

He is very personable and takes the time to not only explain exactly what work needs to be done, but he also shows you on your x-rays/digital images! He also has high tech equipment which allows him to make your permanent crown in the office while you wait so you don't have to return for another appointment plus have to be uncomfortable with a temporary crown for two weeks! Also, he will take the time to answer any questions you might have about your dental work that he is recommending! In addition, it's very impressive that he has hired the nicest and most qualified dental assistants, hygienists, account, manager and receptionist. Also, in regards to your billing, you will never have to worry because it's all explained to you prior to the work that has to be done for you, what your cost will be, and how much your insurance will pay, so there are no surprises! Your overall experience with Dr. Yuen, including the office, which is very clean, well ventilated and modern with plenty of parking available, rest assured will be a good one and you will not be disappointed! I was there in December to do a deep cleaning. After it was done I came outside and made an appointment with a patient coordinator. At that time, a lady behind the counter said my co-pay will be $35 for next appointment. I went there yesterday another lady said my co-pay is $75. I told the lady no it should be $35. She checked again and OK you pay $45 then. Why do I have a feeling that she trying to rip me off. See the attached picture. It clearly says estimated patient, $45. After everything was done yesterday,Dr. Nam told the assistant to make an appointment for consultation for implant and extraction . Also the cost for everything The assistant and I look at the computer screen and I told her I wanted to come in end the March. She said OK that would be fine we have plenty of spot. She hand wrote it on the chart and gave it to patient coordinator. Since they have a lot of stuff to input instead of waiting she said she will send me an email. When I call today to check the status of the email, a lady named Catherine said it could take up to 72 hours. But I'm wondering if I just waited behind the counter I could've got everything done on the same day. She also said there is an appointment for teeth cleaning. They made an appointment without asking me which day or time I wanted to come in. Not good. Other than that, I feel that the dentists are genuinely care about you and professional. Took two stars off for their questionable accounting and clerical practice

TLDR: Annual dental cleaning. 15 minute appointment but less than 10 minutes actually spent…read morecleaning my teeth. Will not be returning. This was the second time that I came to smile dentistry but the first time that I had Dr. Aditi Mehndiratta. She started by checking my gums, looking for cavities, and asking about flossing habits. She spent about 5 minutes doing all that and then wrapped up by asking me about my concerns. I told her about my TMJ clicking and if braces were a recommended solution to attempt to realign my jaw. She dismissed it and said that a mouth guard would be better but didn't explain how. Left after reminding me to floss more often and then said that someone would talk to me more about the mouth guard later. Afterwards, the hygienist started. Unfortunately, I did not catch her name. She polished my teeth in a rush. So much so that the polishing tool that she was using had to be adjusted twice. She also ended up brushing a part of my lip and making the polishing tool vibrate on my teeth while trying to polish my molars. Once she was finished polishing my teeth and rinsing them off, she used floss. The proper way that I learned how to floss is that you pull the floss under the gums and against the sides so that you get everything out. The hygienist just forced floss between my teeth and she missed a quarter of them. Just got the floss between my teeth enough but didn't reach gum. She ran out pretty quickly so a third person, who I believe is the receptionist, could talk to me about the mouth guard. The receptionist let me know that the mouth guard is not covered under my insurance so it should be around $1,500 but that they would discount it for whatever reason to a little over $350. Didn't end up going for the mouth guard as I didn't feel that I had enough information to fee that it would help. I inquired about the rushed cleaning since both the doctor and the hygienist left in such a hurry. Was told that the dental office is a double speciality. No other explanation. This is the first time that I have left a dental cleaning feeling as though I could have done a better job at home. I don't believe that it is an unreasonable expectation that a good dental cleaning should take more than 10 minutes. I will not be returning.

Unethical billing and patient payment practices…read more They do not disclose, despite requiring you review a LOT of paperwork before your appointment, that they charge a 3% rate on all card transactions until AFTER your appointment. The only sign about this is on the counter behind the door you go through to see the dentist so there is no way to see it before your appt. They'll accept cash, but they don't carry change. I won't be returning to be overcharged, especially in such duplicitous ways. Edit: The dentist and business owner has responded and clarified some things. I'm glad to hear they will be making it clear to patients before they enter for their appts that they will be charged an extra 3% for credit cards. Honestly, because we are charged a deposit for our appointment (I had to give a credit card over the phone when I called to make my first appointment) I hope this is made clear when a patient first makes an appointment or gives over cc information. While this practice may be common at small businesses it is not common at many medical offices. Also, when it was communicated to me at the desk I was told it was for all card transactions (including debit cards) when I attempted to pay for my services, which is why it felt particularly unethical. Not carrying change apparently means the extra is credited to your account. This was also never communicated to me when I expressed frustration with these policies only being shared with me after services already rendered while I was attempting to pay. I appreciate the owner receiving this feedback, but am nonetheless confused why I received such differing information at the desk than is being communicated here.
