I called this man and inquired about pricing for small and medium size arrangements. He told me $35 for small and $50 for medium with a $7.99 delivery fee for Lake of the Pines (Gated community in Auburn). I decided to order a small arrangement (total $42.99) gave my credit card info and specifications for colorful flowers as they were being delivered for a "get well" occasion. I asked if I would receive an email confirmation of receipt of purchase or pictures of the arrangement. The owner Henry said no but that I could email his wife and they would confirm my order. Great. So I emailed them. When I got send a notification from my bank that I was charged $51, I emailed him asking him about the pricing discrepancy, the response was unbelievable. (see the attached pictures of my screenshot). First off, asking for specific colors, receipt or inquiring about pricing considered "nagging" is unfathomable. Secondly, the tone in which I was responded with had no sincerity and lacked courtesy and professionalism. Not to mention the condescending tone of "don't text while driving." Apparently iPhones are only used while driving and he just assumed I was breaking a law? I will NEVER refer anyone over to this business.

I hope everyone understands that florists are artists and when you find a talented florist like Sherry, you will understand the thought and work she puts into her arrangements. You aren't just paying for flowers, you are paying for the artist's time and design. Thank you, Sherry, for providing exactly what I wanted with minimal instruction. You are the expert! My daughter recently had her wedding at the Elk's Lodge in Nevada City. First off let me say that…read morethe venue was perfect. Plenty of room with a full bar, stage and large commercial kitchen. However with that said many things went wrong. The grooms family wanted to do the cooking. When we asked if we could use their kitchen , at first they said no. Then they said we could use it if we paid for their chef to be present while we were using it. Not an ideal situation, but we agreed to it. We wanted to rent their plates and silverware and they refused saying that we couldn't use them because they were not doing the catering. I then had to go to a local rental company and rent plates and silverware. I paid almost $400 for that rental. Seems to me that the Elks Lodge could have made an extra $400 if they rented us the dinnerware. Go figure! During the months prior to the wedding, communication was less than perfect. No return phone calls, missed appointment, etc. We were working with a woman named Shawn. Shawn didn't recall many of the arrangements than were made, and had it not been for saved text's to prove we had agreed on certain things, we would have been in trouble. The day prior to the wedding, we paid for the use of Lodge and kitchen at 3:00. We received a call saying the chef had no transportation and they were going to be late. The wedding day I have to admit that the Lodge looked beautiful. Of course we provided all the decorations. However I want to give credit where credit is due. A member of the lodge, Mike set up all the tables and all of the chairs outside. He did an awesome job. Mike was kind enough to do this voluntarily. The wedding itself went pretty smoothly with one exception. We had to purchase the wine and champagne from the Elks Lodge. I ordered way too much. There was two bottles on every table. In addition there was about three more cases as backup if needed. Shawn told the bartenders to open all the wine. So I ended up bringing home all that opened wine which of course would only last a few days. What a waste of money. When I shared with Shawn my dismay on why all the wine got opened, I asked her if she would be willing to reimburse me for the unused open wine. Shawn's replay was, "You ordered it you own it"! Three cases of wine that had to be poured down the drain!!! Just one more note there, the bartenders where on the rude side! When it was time to clean up we had to clean the kitchen. The chef never showed up and we didn't know exactly where things went. They refused to let us use their commercial dishwasher, so we washed everything by hand. I'm wondering what the health department would have to say about that given that kitchenware needs to be cleaned at a certain temperature to be sanitary. All in all, the venue was very nice and the wedding ended up being beautiful! Had it not been for the poor service that Shawn provided I would have easily rated the Lodge a five!

It was 104 and people as well as the wedding cake and flowers were melting. There are many venues closer to accommodations for out of town guests that are not as costly. The cost of venue did not include the food , alcohol, dj, photographer officiant or florals. There was no running water except a hose and the portable bathroom trailer sink. No place to get out of the heat except the one stall portable handicap bathroom. Day of Coordinator didn't even speak to me although I was in the barn decorating over two hours. She just swooshed in and out. Both bride and grooms getting ready rooms were so hot. At least the brides room has a wall unit although it didn't help on such a hot day. This venue has potential but for being so far out without air conditioning or running water I would cross it off my list for May-September event.
