They were actually out of the book I wanted so told me that I can get credit for a different book. I was looking for mystery and they told me it was "everywhere". The book portion of this place is a bit of a mess and it took me longer to find something that struck my fancy since there was no section devoted to mysteries (there was one for Sci Fi). They have a deal on comic books that was pretty nice so the visit was worth it. I liked it, even with its weirdness.

I brought in a crate of valuable hip hop records to sell, as I needed to cover a last-minute bill because I was the sole caregiver for my grandmother that had dementia, so her hospital bills were stacking up. I explained this to him, and I shouldn't have, but I didn't think he would take advantage of my situation. Despite showing the clear worth of my records--including a sealed original "Marshall Mathers LP" valued at over $200--the owner offered just $300 for over 50 albums of similar value. As a collector with over 20 years of experience, I knew this was a shockingly low offer. Needing the money and with other stores closed, I reluctantly accepted, but I felt completely ripped off. Later, the owner came to my home to view more records. He spent two hours carelessly disorganizing my collection, then made another unreasonably low offer. When I declined, he became aggressive, raising his voice and accusing me of wasting his time. His unprofessional conduct in my own home was appalling. I captured the entire incident on camera and seriously considered posting it, as his behavior crossed every line of respect and professionalism. Ultimately, he offered just $230. The next day, I sold the same records to Toad Hall for $1,400--over six times what Culture Shock had offered. This stark difference shows just how unfair their pricing is -- both buying and selling. While the owner's wife seemed polite, the owner (Skyler) behavior was entirely unacceptable. He clearly only values customers willing to accept unfair deals, and without his wife, I doubt this business would survive. After spending thousands of dollars here over the years, I can confidently say I will never return. If you value fair treatment and professionalism, take your business elsewhere. Toad Hall treated both me and my records with care and offered fair prices and they sell for reasonable prices as well and have a much better collection -- something I did not experience at Culture Shock.

The selection is strongest from the 60's and 70's and bins are all well organized. The condition of the records is generally good and prices are competitive. They will put on anything you are considering buying. There is some other merch including tshirts and record players.Two tips: 1. You can't find the entrance from the street address, go around to the parking lot side to see their sign; and 2. Pet their friendly dog.

They also carry a huge amount of used stereo equipment and Joe can answer just about any question you might have on any subject you can come up with regarding stereo equipment, speakers, accessories and jazz music too. He's there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. One caveat: the store can be quite cluttered with stacks of boxes and records and other items and sometimes they make it hard to get through aisles or inhibit your ability to shop items they have in stock. That's to both you and the shop's detriment. I brought it up to the owner once and he got short with me, so I left and haven't been back since, only because it's about an hour's drive for me. I will be back, I just won't anger the gods anymore.

It's a hidden gem of a store for film buffs and memorabilia collectors like myself. I was specifically looking for film soundtrack albums and the man ( I assume it's the owner) was very helpful in showing me exactly where these albums were located. It's a small store but I highly suggest visiting here, if are a serious vinyl collector or just looking looking for an unusual gift. Good stuff...Five stars.
