Joanna welcomed me in and sat down to discuss my issues. She asked great questions to understand my body and issues. The massage room was extremely clean and smelled like lavender and eucalyptus essential oils, which are my favorites! When she got started she asked me about the position of the head cradle, which I thought was fine at first. As she started on my back she adjusted the head cradle, which made it feel much more comfortable! I've been to many expensive spas and I have never felt more comfortable with my face planed in the face cradle than I did here. Joanna also added lavender and eucalyptus near my nose on the face cradle, which was such a nice touch! The massage was amazing! I walked out with no shoulder pain, which has been nagging me for months! Joanna payed really good attention to the areas we discussed and eased tension everywhere else! It was a great experience and I can't wait to go back!

I felt super comfortable expressing my needs and communicating with Erica during the massage, and I walked out of there feeling invigorated. My shoulders didn't feel like they were up at my ears anymore, and I felt my anxiety reduced ten-fold. The facility/room was comfortable and relaxing. I will definitely return.

I visited Elements Massage in Forest Park after initially visiting their location in Bloomingdale…read more The service was excellent from beginning to end. Booking an appointment over the phone was effortless. They had a good amount of slots available and were able to find me a spot within 2 days. The check-in process was pretty quick. I had no problem using my monthly session, even though I had initially signed up at Bloomindgale. After a quick wait, I was set up with my massage therapist, Erin. She was quiet but sweet and used the perfect pressure for my achy back and tired legs. I told her I was running a half marathon that weekend so she gave extra attention to my quads and calves, which was greatly appreciated! The massage lasted exactly 60 minutes, which is always awesome. All in all, I'd greatly recommend Elements, specially their Forest Park location. :) I'll be back in a couple of weeks!

Beware of the Forest Park Elements Massage location. During…read moremy massage, the therapist applied so much pressure that I heard and felt a rib on my left side pop. The therapist heard it too, and we immediately ended the session. By the next day, the pain was so severe that I took time off work to get an X-ray because I believed my rib was broken. Fortunately, it wasn't fractured, but the X-ray confirmed significant bruising. What was even more disappointing was how management handled the situation. It took two weeks and multiple unanswered messages just to get a return call. I provided receipts for my X-ray and Groupon purchase and requested reimbursement for my medical expense, the Groupon, and the wages I lost while seeking medical care. They refused to reimburse me for anything and instead offered excuses rather than taking responsibility. Accidents can happen, but how a business responds afterward matters. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location.

Journal entry 1 - Making the Appointment…read more I've called Robin several times beginning last Thursday... left messages (Thursday, Monday, Tuesday)... I didn't get a call back until today (Tuesday). She stated that she doesn't work on Mondays by way of excusing her calling me today (no excuse was provided for Thursday). And why didn't she mention that she doesn't return calls on Mondays in her outgoing message? That annoyed me. Then Robin went on a little rant: she only has one appointment on the day I wanted and if I want it, I need to return her call immediately, email her, send her my Groupon number, have her email me some policy stuff, otherwise she would fill that slot before noon today, oh - and did she mention that she's a home-based business? All of that gave me the distinct impression that poor Robin's been screwed over and is a bit jaded... Like a new dating relationship, it's not a great idea to outline all of your precautions that you have as a result of your cheating ex-lover. Makes me think that I don't want to touch that. Makes me wonder if my massage will really be all that relaxing. Journal entry 2 - The Massage I arrived on time to Robin's home for my massage. I planned on waiting on her front step until the EXACT time of my appointment as I did not want to ring the doorbell and disturb someone else's massage; however, I ended up ringing five minutes early. Whew! It wasn't a problem. The living room area was set up with a massage table in place of a coffee table. There was still a couch and book shelves in the typical places. Stairs went upstairs along the wall and two other doors were closed. I must say that I felt a bit unnerved. The thought of hidden cameras or a voyeuristic roommate/partner crossed my mind. I convinced myself that I was crazy and that it was still safe to get undressed. I told Robin that my right leg was bothering me a lot and that I'd like for her to focus on it and she said she would. She did a LOT of effleurage massage - which happens to be my favorite technique (you should Google it), but I think she might have done it to excess... She would work on a part and then stroke from my lower back to my neck then work on a different part. I wasn't sure what that was about so I asked her. She explained she did it to keep from overworking any of my muscles. Besides the effleurage strokes, the most significant part of the massage was that Robin used a LOT of oil. She said it was good for my skin (and I believe her), but it was really a lot. Like, you know when you have too much lotion on your hands and you look for somewhere to wipe off the excess? That's how much oil it was. I wanted a towel afterward to get it all off, but there wasn't one. I just put my clothes back on my slippery body. I guess I would have liked a more professional massage. You know - an intake questionnaire, a business card, a price guide for services, a place to leave tips... Something. Maybe a business license on the wall? It was a good massage and I felt great afterward. Oh - and she didn't seem to like to talk during the massage which was just fine (I've had more than my fair share of chatty massage therapists). I might go back again, but I don't think I would go out of my way to do so.

I had never seen a chiropractor before and wasn't even sure of what they did but the pain was so bad that I would try anything. What a great idea that was! I requested an appointment asking if they could see me that day and Dr. Mike emailed me and said yes. I drove straight there where he gave me an X-ray and talked about my pain. Dr. Mike believed it was a pinched nerve in my neck. Right then he started working on me and I've gone regularly since then once or twice a week. It's been a great experience from start to finish. Dr. Mike and Dr. Dana are great. They explain everything they're doing and are very knowledgeable. The staff is great too- Gina at the front desk is so sweet and helpful.
