They let me leave in pain and took $100 from me. How sad is this, I was absolutely shocked they wanted me to live with this pain until January. I made an appointment with a clinic in Bedford and had the tooth repaired the same day of my visit to Lacewood. I am shocked by the lack of urgency, empathy, and basic patient care demonstrated during this appointment. I took time out of my day, drove to the clinic in pain, and left in the exact same condition -- only poorer and extremely disappointed. For comparison, I contacted another dental clinic today, as a new patient, they immediately made arrangements to treat me and address the issue so I could be pain-free during the holidays. This is the level of care I would expect from my regular dentist--especially for a straightforward repair that could have been completed quickly. The dentist I saw today showed no concerns for my suffering and no willingness to help. That lack of compassion and professionalism is unacceptable in a healthcare setting. I will NEVER return and would suggest you find a better clinic as there are many here in Halifax, stay away from Lacewood dental and or anu corporately owned smiles clinic, they are terrible and all about robbing us.

First of all, Carol the receptionist is an absolute delight to deal with. She has a wicked memory and even better wit. It's amazing to have the 'front lines' being such a pleasant experience - so good on Greg and the rest of the team for setting themselves up for success. Greg and Jeannie are also equally amazing. To be honest, it's easy to just go in there and hate going to the dentist, but the other day I thought of how pleasant my experience is here compared to my previous dentists I used to go to. Doesn't get any better - for sure tell your friends about this place!

Absolute shitshow of a dentist…read more I took my autistic child in there because they told me they could handle Autistic kids. I told them he had a history of meltdowns at the dentist. They told me they could handle it. Took my son there in August because he has a toothache. First appointment in mid August they couldn't get him to calm down to look in his mouth. When they did finally see his tooth they told me they would need to extract it surgically. I asked if they sedate and they said yes so we booked the appointment. End of August appointment comes around. I've been prepping my son for anesthetic and telling him "youll take a little nap and then you'll go home and your toothache will be gone." We arrive at the dentist. They are 20 minutes late starting the appointment and while we are getting ready to go in they tell me they don't actually sedate and that they use nitrosoxide. I ask why they lied to me and they say "oh we do sedate adults! Just not children." They manage to convince me that they can do the procedure with nitro and I reluctantly let me kid into the office. What follows is 45 minutes of terrified screaming from my son as 3 Dental techs try to push him into holding still for the sedative. The dentist finally gives up and tells me they will put in a referral at the IWK for surgery and that it's likely to be a 2 year wait. It is now the end of September and my son was up all night with tooth pain again. I called the IWK to check on the status of the referral and they inform me that nothing ever came in. I call the dentist and they give me some lame pass-the-buck story about how the receptionist on duty that day never bothered to do the paperwork. The paperwork was then done while I was on the phone and faxed to the IWK. The moral of the story? This office lies to get business and terrifies autistic kids. My son is now terrified of the dentist so thanks for that. They have a total lack of professionalism. Instead of apologising for a fuckup Instead they just blame the co-worker who isn't in the office. So yeah I'm not going to be taking my son here again.

So, I have to be honest. I'm not entirely sure how to review a dentist, so please bare with me…read more My family dentist, which I've been going to since before I can remember. I've always had the same dentist, and it's definitely a good way to do it. First of all, I should say that they recently renovated and for a waiting room, their waiting room is quite nice. I never have to spend much time in there, either. If I have an appointment at 11:30, I almost always get in by 11:40. This is one of the best things, I think, a health office can offer. Short waiting times. So, on to the actual treatment. They're a dentist. They do the horrible scrape-y bit, they polish your teeth, floss, and give you some nasty fluoride to stick in your mouth for a while. None of it is very fun. There's no way around that, so I'm not gonna complain about it. However, they are very thorough and keep up a constant stream of patter. Plus, they don't ask you questions while their hands are in their mouths; that can be very annoying. They're also very good for getting things done. Today I needed two teeth capped, they did it right after my cleaning. That is awesome. So, the people are friendly. They ask how I'm doing, what I've been up to. They remember me. The dentistry itself is good, they notice when things are wrong and offer good advice (more than just the token 'Floss more!'), and help you stay healthy. Plus, they have really groovy sunglasses to protect your eyes from the lights. What more could you want?

I have been a patient of Dr Carr for many years and received excellent care…read more I went to a different clinic for a short time, right after moving back to Halifax. I did it purely because it was closer to my house, and came to deeply regret that decision. Dr Carr was happy to take me back and was able to help me with a potentially serious problem that the dentist at the other clinic missed. I also get my routine cleanings and check ups done here. The hygienists are great and I've never had a complaint about their work. Like most dental clinics, they will do direct billing to most insurance companies if you have coverage and bring your card with you.
