Before we came here, my husband and I were very frustrated by other vets simply not even knowing exactly what was wrong with our dog, yet he was getting worse by the minute. We were told to prepare for the worst. In my conscious, I could not handle killing my dog without even knowing what was making him sick. So my husband and I decided to give this place a try before we had to make the dreaded decision. We had been told by many friends that Rye was able to help turn their pets around -- even in their final moments. I am so glad we did! I wish we would have gone here from the beginning! We would have saved a ton of money, a lot of emotional upheaval and a lot of guesswork in the process. I can tell that Dr. Kirmayer truly cares about the animals and saving their lives. Our dog needed some major diagnostics and I loved that he has almost everything an ailing pet could need under one roof. None of that hassle of one vet referring to another and referring to another. And if they don't have it under their roof? They seem to know every top-notch specialist from California to New York that can help. Our pup suffered from a 104 fever for over a week with no conclusive answers as to what was wrong or what was causing it. A previous vet said it was lung cancer. Another vet at the emergency center said it was a spleen infection. None of it made any sense to us. But once we saw Dr. Kirmayer, we finally got answers. It wasn't cancer afterall! We almost put our dog down on a misdiagnoses!!!!! Dr. Kirmayer had our fur baby's temperature back to normal and eating within ONE DAY. We did further diganostics and he got the answers we were seeking all along and did this quickly and easily. Our dog is still walking a tight rope with his condition, but he is responding well to treatment and is happy, pain-free and in good hands in the meantime. I have no doubt that Dr. Kirmayer will get our boy back to normal in no time. No matter what happens, I know he is getting the best care possible, and that alone gives me some comfort through all of this. I am going to be officially switching BOTH of our dogs to Rye now as a result of all of this. I would trust no one else with my pets. I know that Dr. Kirmayer is truly in this profession to SAVE THE ANIMALS. I cannot speak of that for every vet out there. I am so lucky to have found one that does. You will not regret coming here. We drove from Buffalo, NY to get a CT scan for our dog, since the waiting lists in Buffalo, and the prices, were astronomical. From my first phone call with Rye, I knew they were good hearted people who are in animal care for the right reasons. Every person I spoke to on the phone was SO kind, thoughtful, and understanding. It was very easy to get through to schedule, no run around. They were able to schedule us a week out (which was quick compared to what I'd found), but since it was urgent, I was put on a waiting list and they called me back to get me in two days later. I drove down with my dog and stayed overnight in a hotel and then went to rye first thing in the morning. We had a consult with the Dr (who was amazing) and left our dog Rocko for the day for his scans. They called me just over an hour later that he was finished already! He is 12, so sedation scares me, but they did not over sedate him and he was jumping around (and making quite the ruckus for them ) when we came to pick him up. The doctors and staff are AMAZING. They have also sent his reports over to multiple referrals for us, which I know can be time consuming, but have never once made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. The only issue I have with this place, is that every other Vet isn't just like them! THANK YOU to the team at Animal Hospital of Rye. For making a very tough situation, so much easier for us.

My senior cat took a very very sudden downturn in health that affected her ability to eat, maintain…read morehydration, jump up on a bed, or walk. She was clearly suffering. Vet explained everything that she felt upon examination (very lumpy kidneys/end-stage renal failure that my cat hid very very well), and explained what had likely been going on as my sweet cat declined rapidly over 48 hours. This was a complete opposite experience of Rossmoyne emergency, who either never palpated her kidneys, or, they did but this is a way they found to make money: omit details the pet owner will never ask about. They wanted to run $1k of tests acting as though they had no way of figuring out what was going on without them. They still got $500, which was the cost of my stupidity and trust. I encountered different staff at Shores both times I've been there, both times consistently compassionate, didn't appear out to make money which would result in prolonging a pet's pain and suffering. The whole process of ending my cat's suffering, including placing her on a fluffy blanket next to me during the process, the little memento with her pawprints, the way her ashes were given back in a cedar urn which was in a decorative bag...all handled very well. They do a great job vetting employees.

They are there to help your pet get better (if sick or injured) or to just for a checkup & update vaccines. I Love how they talk to my dogs, and they usually spoke to them before me. That to me right there shows how much they care about the animals. Dr. Mimnagh was so gentle with my dog Dewey, he is the only person who Dewey would let (without a fight) trim his nails (including me). I truly believe Mrs. Margaret Mimnagh is an angel! She helped me through the extremely rough time when I had to put my dog Dewey to sleep. He was 13 1/2 years old. She treated me like I was FAMILY, not a client or a chart number. Anything I have ever needed for any of my pets they have always gone above and beyond. Most recently I called the office explained what was going on with my dog (throwing up, diarrhea) they told me to come in to pick up Medicine (it was around 6pm in the evening). When I got there she told me if Casey wasn't better in a day or 2 to call back and we'll get you right in! His office does not overcharge for services / office visits or medications like some of the other Veterinarians in Central PA. They are not in practice to bankrupt you, but are there to help your fur-babies. No matter where I have moved to in my life (even when I was almost an hour away) I continued to take pets to Dr. Mimnagh and his crew and will continue to do the same as long as I have pets!

I have nothing good to say about this vet.  Dr. Mimnagh is a cruel man…read more We came to this practice from a referral.  After a biopsy was done, they found out that our 3 year old cat had very aggressive cancer.  After chemotherapy treatments were not improving her condition, we decided to keep her home and let her have her last few months with us in peace instead of weekly vet visits. The biopsy and chemo treatments were done by another vet at this practice and we were grateful to have them.   The day we decided to euthanize our cat, we showed up at 4:50 for our 5PM appointment.  We waited until 5:45 to be seen.  Pure agony when you know that something horrible is about to happen.  I also had my two kids with me since this was our family cat.  We were all heartbroken to lose her.  When Dr Mimnaugh came into the room - he was pushy and rushed.  He kept calling her "kitty" instead of her name.  He asked why we were here and had us go through her medical history WHEN HE SHOULD HAVE READ HIS OWN RECORDS.  While he prepped our cat, his assistant pushed us aside so we could not be near her and the assistant continued to ask us about how we were paying and asking us for our card to pay.  She did not wait or give any empathy as to the moment at hand.  Either way, the payment could have been taken at any point of the 45 minutes we were kept waiting past our appt time. The worst part - Dr. Mimnaugh did not sedate our cat.  They scruffed her, held her down and injected her with one shot.  Our cat spent her last moments screaming in pain.  SHE SUFFERED. And all of this was done in front of my kids while Dr. Mimnaugh joked that the "men of the house take these things much harder than the wife or kids".  I don't understand how this man still has a business when this is how he treats animals at their end of life.  Our pet suffered until her heart stopped and it was at the hands of Dr. Mimnaugh.
