In my mind, the Provender started like this: "Hey dude. You…read moreknow what would be awesome? A sweet old truck with a pizza oven in it!" And the Provender was born of the union of a sweet old truck and brick pizza oven! While, I've only been here on RAGBRAI, the place is seriously magical. A delight of a restaurant on wheels that served up some mighty fine vittles! We had a breakfast bar that consisted of rice, sausage and eggs - served cold and in rectangular form. This action was solid! If not for the miles ahead, I would have partaken in the meat laden sandwich. Apparently you can rent this beast for gatherings as well! We're excited to get to know this unique food truck better in the near future and you'd be wise to do the same!

Wowza, delish!…read more These guys focus on good, local, from-scratch ingredients and it shows! Everything is fresh from the farm and they even make use out of things like the radish greens - love that! Oh, and I suppose I should mention that these dishes are unintentionally healthy, because they are. This is the kind of food you want to eat all the time not because it's good for you, but because it's tasty. The fact that their menu is loaded with a bunch of super foods, is a mega bonus. Also, can we talk about the truck for a second? Because it's the hippest thing that's rolled down Washington Street since horses were the only mode of transportation! The style is perfectly on-par with their local, farm-to-table mission. I can't wait to work my way through their whole menu!

The Rasta wraps are my favorite. They're like the best burritos you've ever had. The kind of food fusion that makes you mad no one else has thought of this before. I can never decide between the fries and the plantains. Both are top notch. The Island Boy pasta is equally delicious. Getting both the jerk chicken and shrimp in the same pasta feels like the kind of generous serving you'd usually only get at home. Again, I want to try so many other things on the menu, but I can't peel myself away from my usuals!

They hang out on the main drag gong into the farmer's market and roll in quite the fancy truck. The owner told us about how she had it custom built in Florida. At the market they offer a number of breakfast specials, including the aforementioned fries. The combo of meat and cheese and meat and cheese and potatoes is as American as you can get! We're excited about trying it again and at this point it's going to be our go to spot when we visit the farmer's market.

To be honest, whenever I'm feeling down I think of the brightest spot of my week. It's Saturday morning, when I feel that burrito in my hand, and I take a flavorful bite as salsa drips down my face. Local Burrito is synonymous with happiness in my mind. Try it out, you will not be sorry. Also, here's a pro-tip. You order and pay on the left, then get in line on the right where you tell the peeps what burrito you got. There, you can say if you want salsa/hot sauce, or none. The salsa is SO KILLER though, you have to get it.

The food truck scene in Iowa City is sadly lacking, so I've been excited to see this burrito truck…read moremake appearances at farmer's markets around town. This seems like a town that would really gravitate to a strong food truck culture. Used to live close to Durham, NC, where food truck rodeos were commonplace; there seems to be enough locavores here for a critical mass for food trucks here. Having heard about the recent menu changes and seeing them at the forefront of the pro-food truck movement here, my hopes were high. I tried the breakfast burrito, which has eggs, potatoes, and various locally sourced greens. I opted to add cheese curds for $1 extra, an exciting local option. I was somewhat disappointed with the burrito, because it was heavy on potatoes and light on eggs, greens, and curds. If the ingredient mix were balanced, this could have had much more flavor than it did. The other menu additions, such as Korean fusion and thai peanut tempeh, sound intriguing so I'll update my review once I try those.

I reached out to Charles via email and got a timely response. He was upfront on cost-- how much was needed for a down payment and how much his minimum was. The entire planning process was painless. I had an event of about fifty people-- we had a two-hour serving window. Keepin Up With the Jones's food truck came about 90 minutes or so early to prep. The menu we had included: pulled pork, buffalo chicken sandwich, chicken bacon and ranch sandwich, cheeseburger, hamburger and popcorn chicken. Along with fries, baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad as sides. I am not kidding when I say everything that came out was great! Everyone was clean plate club. (And that is saying something. Those are some LEGIT serving sizes but the food was THAT good.) If you want reasonably priced, yummy food-- hire Keepin Up With the Jones's for your next event!
