In order to replace the beams, it was necessary to remove all the Trex. Once removed, I was amazed at all the underlying shoddy construction done by a local construction company. Ben gave me two estimates, one to just replace the 3 bad beams and the other, which was close to being a total rebuild. It was an easy choice to go with the second option. The deck is a weird shape, and in order to use the existing Trex, all the new structure would have to be perfectly measured. The deck did turn out perfect. I was especially happy that Ben was very selective in picking out the pressure-treated wood at the local big box store. Some of that wood is exposed and the grain is just beautiful. I had originally planned on painting the exposed wood, but it looks so nice I will probably go with a transparent stain. Ben's workmanship was outstanding. The price for the work was reasonable and about what I would have expected. This is the first time I have used BD Crafters. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to others.
