The grounds are above & beyond what you'd expect. From the minute you drive in the entrance & see the huge windmill & the flags you will know that you have entered a property that is loved and taken pride in. Jamie & B (Bianca) in the front office are friendly & helpful. They gave us easy directions to our spot & gave us plenty of info on things to do at the resort & in the surrounding area. We enjoyed talking to them so much! They were great! We drove across a small bridge in the resort into the Adults Only section & I swear I heard the birds chirping a happy little song welcoming us...lol We looked into the water & my bf said "I wonder if I can fish?! (He could & he did!) We had an end lot in the center. It was a perfect spot w a nice, sturdy metal table & 4 chairs. The area was quiet & peaceful. At night all we could see were stars...and more stars. This is the place to be for stargazing. At the time we still had our 24 ft RV & it fit perfectly. On the outside of the circle in the Adults only area there are huge spaces for larger RV's & motor homes. During our stay we walked up to the office to buy a few things & the prices were actually reasonable compared to other RV resorts we have stayed at. We loved the Adults Only pool & hot tub. We wish more resorts actually thought about the fact that there are a lot of Adults that want to relax at the pool without kids yelling, screaming & splashing them. Some of us are trying to get away for a wknd & relax. At other resorts there are kids running wild everywhere with little to no supervision. If you book here, especially in the Adults Only area, you will actually be able to enjoy a tranquil getaway. You will hear the wind blowing, not kids screaming. Don't worry though, if you're traveling w the Brady bunch you can book one of the many lovely spots in the other section of the resort. There's a pool for everyone that is also very large & nice. There you can enjoy the sounds of your children screaming & splashing with new friends! Speaking of friends, we met some of the most wonderful people on our last trip to Buckhorn Lake. At some RV resorts I have heard /read reviews complaining that long term tenants are unfriendly. Well, we found just the opposite. We met numerous people who stay at Buckhorn for months at a time and they were all so welcoming! One evening we ended up in the front "yard" of an amazing couples spot for hours. They were friends w a bunch of other regulars at the resort also. Our absolute favorite person at this resort has to be Chris! He came into the pool area our first night when we were in the hot tub. He was just making sure everything was turned off (lights) & locked up. There's a code to get into the very clean & nice restrooms. We ended up talking quite awhile. He told us all about the fun events that happen at Buckhorn Lake RV resort. This isn't JUST an RV park. It is truly a resort with plenty to do OR not do. Your choice. My bf had fun fishing in the early morning. (Catch & release) There is a fitness center & game room. They have tennis courts! There is also a really cool outdoor bar area near a big red barn for Happy Hours & Potlucks. They have an awesome theater room where they will soon be having a Super Bowl party. Every wknd they plan activities for their guests. There's no pressure to join but everyone is welcome! Chris takes care of the grounds & even stops by everyone's RV in the mornings to get your trash for you. He has the best personality. He made us want to come back bc he made us feel so welcome. I wish everyone had the kind of positive attitude that he has & loved their job as much as he does. He may never know this but he was a huge reason why our 1st visit to Buckhorn was such an excellent experience. If you ever see this, THANK YOU SO MUCH CHRIS! If you want to enjoy the Hill Country in the Kerrville area there can't possibly be another place that could come close to being as great as Buckhorn Lake RV resort. This is just my opinion though. The fact that we booked 3 more visits in advance the day we checked out is proof enough! This place books up... Apparently we are not the only people that know how great this place is. We visited Buckhorn the first time in September 2022. I decided to wait & visit more RV resorts before posting my review. I can tell you without a doubt that this resort is excellent. In comparison to others in the Hill Country it has more activities & more amenities. It is definitely more beautiful! We have stayed at other great places but there is something special about Buckhorn Lake. Go & find out for yourself! Our next booking is coming up & we can't wait! Btw, I have so many more photos but they are on my old phone. I'll add them ASAP!

We took our dogs to the bark park to play and everyone was good about picking up their dog's doody. There are doody trash cans and bags throughout the resort. The dryers run for 45 min. They also have a store in case you run out of ice, etc. The resort is just off the highway, close to parks, and grocery stores. We will definitely return!!

This is a unique property with a collection of early homes. We stayed in the Kusenberger Log Cabin,…read morethe original 1847 homestead at the back of the acreage. Descriptions of the home and property, while technically accurate, are a bit incomplete. The log cabin is a smartly converted dog-run to include a functional bathroom in the center. Interesting primative elements have been saved, which makes the experience cool. What was missed in all descriptions was the low clearance doorways and beaming between rooms and in bathroom area. At 5'10", I was 5" too tall. Hubby at 6'4"... you get the picture. We lost count of head bumps. For safety reasons alone, this should be mentioned. There is mention of both a loft and fireplace in description, but those should now only be considered decorative original examples and not on the amenity list as something a guest would ever safely use. The local owner has chosen corporate management. While this insures marketing and more passive ownership, I feel it sacrifices the pride and upkeep that are found in personal hands-on management. Although the fresh fluffy towels are nice, the uniformed bed linens fall short. The white on white sheets and duvet are grossly out of character and sleep very hot due to the synthetic material blend. The shower curtain and liner are too long for the low height bathing area and should be hemmed up. (Liner is a bit yuk from being just too long.) A make-ready employee did not appear to have been utilized as dead bugs were in tub and sink. Home was also dark without porch light or interior light left on. The 35 whole property is showing signs of needing a grounds keeper. The free roaming sheep are doing their best and are very friendly, but are limited in their ability to be complete. I'm hoping that a capital investment of hiring a human crew is scheduled soon to address maintenance issues. This is a special property that should be saved for future generations to enjoy.

We recently stayed at Yogi Bear Campground and overall had a good experience, with a few areas that…read morecould use improvement. The campground itself is clean, and the sites are spacious with plenty of shade, which made our stay comfortable. The pool area is excellent, and the food offerings were surprisingly good. One area that was disappointing was the miniature golf course. It appears it has not been maintained regularly. There were numerous rocks and debris on the greens, several holes were filled with golf balls, and some of the clubs were broken. With proper upkeep, this could be a much more enjoyable attraction. The activity center staff were another weak point. Many of the younger employees seemed disengaged and lacked enthusiasm for the activities. When we asked questions, we were often met with "I don't know" responses, which was frustrating. Better training and more involvement from staff would greatly improve the guest experience. The bathhouses could also benefit from more frequent cleaning and maintenance. Since we stayed in our travel trailer, this was not a major issue for us, but it may be for tent campers or guests relying on campground facilities. One of the main reasons we chose this campground was because we were told we would be able to tube directly down the Guadalupe River from the property. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the river was stagnant due to a lack of rainfall, making tubing impossible. We understand that river conditions are beyond the campground's control, but it would have been helpful to receive more accurate and current information before booking. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the clean campsites, shaded areas, pool, and food. With better maintenance of the mini golf course, improved staff training, and more up-to-date information about river conditions, this campground could provide an even better experience.

My boys (ages 12 and 9) loved the cabin's loft, having a campfire both nights, and "just everything Mom." After several days in hotels (nice ones too) we were pleasantly surprised at how clean and well-furnished the cabin was and how wonderful the owner Beverly was. Guests are free to come and go as they please and there is no lengthy check-in process, which is really nice after nearly a week. We felt at home immediately and have shared many pictures with friends and family, who were impressed. We were looking for a place to stay while in Fredericksburg and stumbled upon God's Country Cabins…read moreon Airbnb AND through the management company Gastehaus Schmidt. Since it was Easter weekend and we were booking only 3 days in advance, we ended up booking one of the cabins for our weekend getaway. We were definitely happy with our choice. It was a good 7 miles from Main Street Fredericksburg which wasn't too long of a drive from town. However, it was definitely off the beaten path. You'll wind through some country roads before you hit a gate with an access code for the 4 cabins. The grounds were well maintained and the four cabins formed a little community in the gated area. We stayed in "Mercy" which was one of the middle cabins - there was a designated parking spot for each cabin and wooden walkways leading up to the cabin. The cabins were made completely of wood, including the kitchen island and the bar stools made to look like wine barrels. The rocking chairs on the porch and the wine barrel table was a nice touch. The cabins all contain a little living area with a small love seat, a TV, and a small kitchen complete with an island, microwave, sink and refrigerator. It comes furnished with a set of plates and silverware - enough for 2 people. The owners left us cookies and a nice little welcome note, which was a nice touch. The cabin each contained a king size bed and a bathroom with a spacious standing shower. The beds were a little uncomfortable, as were the pillows, but the sheets were soft. There are ceiling fans in both rooms (living and bedroom) and a small A/C unit, which we set to 68 at night but wasn't very cold. The water was also warm but didn't get very hot. The cabins provided towels and shampoo, body wash and conditioner. Overall, it was a nice space for a romantic getaway for 2. There is a shared patio space in the middle with a tiny bbq grill, like the ones you see at a state park, and a round table set on top of a wooden patio to be used for lunch/dinner, etc. It is lit at night and the paths are also lined with motion sensored lights for visibility. It was quiet and you do not hear your neighbors at all, especially since this is an adult only facility. We enjoyed it and liked the country feel of the cabins a lot! From the looks of it, the cabins were brand new and from the guestbook, only 4 or 5 other couples stayed here before us. Clean, new, and private with everything we needed! We drove into town for wine tasting and breakfast, and drove another 45 mins to a little over an hour to Enchanted Rock State Park and Pedernales Falls State Park in Johnson City!
