It's kind of like a one-stop shop for the weary traveler. There were lots of semis in and around this gas station / travel center, so I think it might be a go-to for long-haul truckers. As for me: I just used the facilities and got some snacks, and was back on my way down the road. My visit with Flying J was quick and painless, like any visit to a gas station should be!

We did not try any of the pastries but they looked good through the window. The service was pretty quick because only one "babe" was working the drive thru window and the walk up counter. All orders are to go unless you sit outside. I hope this business makes it through the winter months as the tourist season is over for Buckeye Lake when the water is let down for the winter. I would definitely come again!

I went with the Mexi latte. There was no line at all and our drinks were ready within 3-5 minutes. The drive-thru wasn't too narrow and was easy to navigate. The price was as expected for a medium sized coffee drink, but the presentation was adorable. Both came with whipped cream and were topped with a chocolate covered espresso bean. The Mexi tasted like a cross between chocolate milk with cinnamon and a snickerdoodle. Though tasty, I didn't really get any coffee flavor, which was a little disappointing. I saw cookies on the menu, asked the flavors, and went with chocolate chip. I didn't realize they were prepackaged. The cookie was good, but a little dry. Definitely packed with chocolate, though.

I tried the Merry Mint popcorn - a mint extract sugar coating with chocolate drizzled about. It wasn't too bad. Of course, I wasn't present when she stopped at the brick and mortar shop to ask questions as to what they use to flavor the different popped corn, so I'm not sure if it's all natural, liquid flavorings, a heap load of sugar, or what. And, the mint was not the traditional caramel kind, so my experience remains limited. Unfortunately, I didn't care for any of the popcorn that I tried. I'm not really sure why. I love caramel corn, but the flavors just didn't seem bold enough to me. Perhaps it didn't impress me because I'll be forever comparing popcorn to the gold standard - Garrett's Popcorn in Chicago. And let's face it, if you've ever had Garrett's, you'll agree that there is just no comparison. Still, I rated this place four stars because the staff was great, the shop was cute, and while the popcorn was indeed good, it just didn't blow me away.
