After experiencing The Daily Perk a couple minutes away, Tim's has no redeeming factor to make me want to come back.
Like the previous review I agree about the bathroom cleanliness. It appears that savages had come before me.. I decided to opt wait until I got home.
The wait time at the front door with one other customer ahead of me is on average 3 minutes. It seems the drive through is the main focus for their labour dollars. Makes sense from a financial perspective, the inside dining area is usually not more than 1/3 full. The staff seem to reflect the town having a hard time hiring local talent, which I understand, but I have trained staff in my career in the hospitality industry and I know that it takes time to mould the average worker in to an exceptional one. This is my main thought each time I have been in there, Where are the managers?? I see trainee badges on name tags and no one training them, this causes the dissatisfaction that I feel.
With a significant improvement in the decor, I would hope to see an improvement in the training systems. The new decor is beautiful. Top marks for that. Unfortunately that seems to be the only improvement. Free WI-FI still works, so for these two points I will allow two stars for my review
I am befuddled to see the new dual drive through is taped off to be a single drive through again.. One step forward and two steps back.
The reason people go to Tims, the coffee.. For anyone that thinks it is a quality coffee, I cant try and change your mind. It is mediocre and the cream must have some sort of additives, it does not seem right. sure it is rich and thick, but when added to a Coffee, you loose any ability to get an idea of how the coffee quality is. Maybe there is sound reasoning behind this.
There seems to be no option for unrefined natural sugar, just chemical laced artificial sweetener and ultra refined cheap white sugar. Everything here seems GMO and artificial.
For any world traveler with a sense of what coffee should taste like, if you came to any Tim Hortons, you would wonder how this is part of the canadian identity. One may assume canadians are like pack animals that learned one place for sustenance and never deviate from this. Sad face :(
For a person that is visiting canada for the first time, they may be left with the impression that canadians lack refinement and have no idea about what nice baked goods are or how coffee should taste.
I just hope that for these people that may be coming through Vanderhoof, that someone recommends the Independent Local Coffee Shop "The Daily Perk" see my review for information on that business. read more
