I admit that when I am on holidays, especially in Quebec, that I try to find every boulangerie or…read morepatisserie I can. They offer a selection of breads, pastries, and ice cream. I believe they have some other items (like meats or pâté) in a cooler section but I can't remember for sure. The bread I tried was very hearty and dense (which is something I like). The pastry I tried was nice as well. My one complaint is that they don't indicate what breads they have with signs so it isn't as efficient as it could be for ordering. Also, as is normal for bakeries, if you want a good selection, it pays to arrive earlier in the day. On our first visit, there was pretty much nothing on the shelf to get. On the second time (earlier in the day) the selection was better. As is the norm for many smaller shops in the Gaspesie, they don't accept credit cards but will take debit.

My wife had the paris brest and almond croissant and thought they were average. My dark hot chocolate was a bit too milky. Overall though, a great spot for breakfast in Maria. Bostock was brioche with almonds. It was good: moist with a rich, good almond flavour. Triple chocolate cookie was good too: crisp with a rich crumb. There is indoor and outdoor seating and a small parking lot next to the shop. Prices are pretty reasonable for what you get (sandwich wise), but the lattes were a bit expensive considering the size (paid for large which is $4 but it seemed more like a medium). All in all though I would recommend it and would go back if I was ever in the area.
