After hours this evening, Tim drove 1 plus hour each way to bring us some firewood to hold us over until our delivery comes next week, " Above and beyond great customer service". After years of buying cheep firewood off of Craigs list, I.e. Pine and unseasoned junk firewood. The firewood Tim delivered is quality seasoned hardwoods, not to mentioned its cut to easily handle and fit our stove. We are also using Tim's tree service to remove several trees off one of our properties, good prices and outstanding services. I've never bought firewood before, so # of stars may not be fair . I've bought tons of products & services in my life; 3-stars seems generous. I got 5 quotes, yet placed my 1/3 cord order with Brenda on Dec. 5th, despite the highest prices, because Corbin's reviews are nearly flawless and I'm not an experienced buyer. After 4-5 follow-up phone calls & text messages, my order was delivered Dec. 18. The 2 week fulfillment period was much longer than expected. However, the wood was stacked perfectly. Every time I walk by the firewood, I honestly stop and stare at how well the wood is stacked. The perfectly stacked wood measures easily: 42"W x 43"H x 32"D of exactly 16" long pieces. In total, 235-240 total pieces. The wood burns a touch smokey at first, then beautiful flames. To me, the pieces seem small and they burn very, very fast. Our first fire required 4 kindling and 18 pieces of wood to burn for 1-hour. I don't know if that's a lot or a little, but I'd estimate that I have enough wood to keep a fire burning for 13-hours. 1-star: delivery time 2-stars: many pieces the size of kindling; this 1/3 cord looks tiny 2-3 stars: cost seems high for small stacks & small pieces of wood 5-stars: beautiful fire for 20-mins (5-6 pieces of wood) 5-stars: stacking under my porch stairs was fantastic read more

Ordered firewood from them 2 weeks ago. They took my order over the phone and told me they would call me back with a delivery date. I never heard back from them on the delivery. I called back a few days later to ask if they were still planning on delivering the the order. The lady I spoke with informed me that their delivery truck guy was not around during the week so they were going to try and deliver the wood to me on Saturday morning. Saturday morning came and went and I never received my order and never even got a call from them. I was hoping to get my firewood before the snow storm but never did. It's been over two weeks now and I never received the order and no one has contacted me. I will be looking for another, more reliable company to order wood from. Reply to Tim Corbin: I sent an email to Tim Corbin directly. Tim Corbin responded to my email and told me to call Brenda directly at their office 540-547-2761. I called Brenda and she took my information and told me she would call me back later in the week with a time for delivery, which she never did. I then called Brenda back later in the week and asked about the delivery. That is when she informed me that their driver was not available that week and that they would try to deliver to me on Saturday. I never heard back from Brenda or the driver. Which makes me believe that they never even put my order in and were never planning on delivering the wood in the first place. read more

Ordered 1/3 cord of wood last week. After some back and forth we got our delivery. They were able to split the order between two smaller racks we have and it was stacked nicely. However, I have some wet wood. We covered it right away and it has been covered since we got it. Some pieces light on but there are some that are so wet they sizzle, smoke and won't light. This is our 4th fire since delivery and it has been an issue each time. Would like to give it 2 1/2 stars but it's not an option. Included are are photo where you can see water coming out of the log at the bottom. And a video where you can also hear it sizzle. Update: The company contacted me about the review and an email I had sent directly to them. Tim offered to restock the wood he had given me. I took up his offer happy we could get some dry wood. Tim ended up just giving me enough wood to replace what I had already burned. I will admit the new wood it seasoned and dry. Tim stated he tested the wood he had given me first and said it was dry. I would love to chop one in half and then test it. The stuff he originally gave me still pops, sizzles and smokes. We got a nice hot fire going with red hot coals and dropped two pieces on there. One new one old. The new one caught right away. The old one did not. Had to sit on the coals for a good long time. Then smoked the entire time. Tim tried to explain to me how to build a fire. I found this insulting. I have been building fires for many decades now beginning as a child. Yes, I'm old enough to be a kid who played outside without adult supervision and we build small fires in the winter all the time. I really believe we got a wet load of wood for some reason since all the other reviews were so good. read more

Ordered a cord of firewood from these folks to split with a friend. They delivered a CORD -- not a "flat cord," not 100 pieces of green wood off the back of a truck. A huge amount of firewood. (Each of us got about a 12-foot by four-foot pile, to be precise.) They didn't charge extra to make two stops on two different days on Capitol Hill. I contacted Tim Corbin to get a third of a cord of firewood for my backyard fire pit. The company responded promptly to confirm a delivery date. On the appointed day, they stacked the wood beautifully in my garage. When I returned home, I measured the stack and thought that it was about 4 cubic feet short, so I contacted the company. They responded very quickly to let me know that when a customer doesn't have a rack, the workers are instructed to stack the wood more tightly together so that it can support itself. But, that said, the company still offered to stop by the next time they were in my area (just a day later) to give me some more wood on the house. I can't say enough good things about this company. It's a tad pricey ($250 for a third of a cord is steep), but the professionalism of the company, ease of delivery (included in the price), and quality of the wood more than make up for it. The wood burns beautifully and stays lit for hours - it's very nicely seasoned. I absolutely will use them again the next time I need to order wood, I recommend everyone in the DC area do the same! read more

Ordered a rack of firewood from Tim Corbin. All oak, arrived very dry/seasoned, and very nice, dense, split, high quality pieces (no rotting, bug infestation, etc.). Service was very prompt and they happily delivered to Charlottesville. Tim's wife Brenda kept me updated throughout the process. I bought 1/2 a full cord (equivalent to 4' x 12' x 16") or about 500 pieces for $385 which is not listed on their website but when I gave the dimensions of my rack, she said this was the amount I needed (and was spot-on). She asked where I needed it, and I said dumped off the driveway as close to the rack in my backyard as possible (planning to have my teenagers stack it). When she found out I had a rack ready to go, she said they'd just take care of stacking it for me no charge. Before this I always hated ordering firewood. Quality was such a crapshoot, and I always order in spring to give it a good 8 months to sit since despite what they tell you, its usually very green. Not this stuff, its stored from day 1 under a roof. Now I'm just bummed its 80 degrees out and not exactly fire making season! read more

Can I give 6 stars here? YES. Maybe 8 or 9? We have been using Tim's company for over 10 years now. Won't hire any other tree company. Tim is the nicest, most down-to-earth guy you'll ever meet. His wife Brenda schedules service. We've been on a first name basis with them for years. We have a huge elm tree in our yard with a wide umbrella canopy. It's a gorgeous tree but the limbs grow so long, sometimes they are almost scraping the yard and hang low over our roof. Tim's crew have come 1/2 dozen times to trim it up and it is the greatest haircut it gets every time. He walks across the street to eyeball how it looks at various stages of the job. He knows his craft. They've removed trees for us, given us advice on older tree health and he really knows what he's talking about. They are very reasonable in price and have worked with us on many jobs. They are extremely fair and honest and we depend on them for all our tree work. I have made many recommendations for their company over the years. They are members of TCIA, Tree Care Industry Association http://www.treecareindustry.org and BBB accredited.
