Absolutely phenomenal service from Don, and I was so happy to meet him!…read more He came recommended through our realtor and did an inspection for us last Thursday which we attended. He was incredibly thorough and went through every inch of our new (almost) home and took the time to explain things as he saw them. Next, he took us through the whole house and pointed out everything he noticed, things he thought we could fix, and things he recommended the seller fix. He found things we hadn't even thought to look for! As someone who knows nothing about home improvement or build it was really nice to have Don on our side. I didn't understand a lot of what he said so he took the time to explain things to me in his incredibly friendly demeanor and to let us know what we could do to fix issues ourselves without incurring heavy costs from a contractor. He was so pleasant to work with I felt like I should give him a hug afterwards and invite him to dinner! He delivered his report via email the next morning and I was amazed to see how inclusive and thorough it was. He detailed every little thing he noticed and categorized things by necessity to repair/fix or whether we just needed to do some routine maintenance. His report helped us and our real estate agent decide what to ask the seller to replace or repair and also provided my husband and myself with a clear list of things we needed to do once we get in the home on our end. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Don to any family member or friend who needed a home inspection done, and am highly recommending him to all of you, Yelp. Home Insite Property Inspections will make you feel like you have someone fair and on your side conducting your new home inspection, and make you feel in your element when you are so completely not. Thank you so much, Don!

He doesn't check in and he implements the whole project without telling you what's going on or how it looks and then when you're not happy with the outcome he still expects you to pay the full bill. On a recent project he overcharged me for materials I didn't use and refuses to reimburse me. In fact when I asked he called me "crazy" and told me to "lose his number". He absolutely does not know what he's doing with masonry though he sells himself as being knowledgeable. And on other projects, he often has to redo simple tasks several times to get it right. So while his rate is low, you pay threefold in the amount of time it takes him to execute. He is incredibly unprofessional on top of not executing well on projects, calling you names and accusing you of getting in the way of him doing his work. Lots of excuses. It's possible that he's good with home inspection but just doesn't know how to actually do the hands-on work. To be clear I didn't hire him for inspections, I hired him for projects such as tuckpointing and other repairs around the house and the outcomes were always subpar. And then he was defensive and aggressive at different times toward me. Find yourself a real professional contractor who won't call you insulting names after messing up your home projects. I've shared a copy of the shockingly rude text message he sent me and I simply asked him about the cost of some materials he'd charged me for that I didn't use. And I've attached pictures of the mismatched grey mortar he slathered onto my beautiful vintage brick home. Masonry experts now have to drill it all out because it's not only the wrong color, it's the wrong type which will damage structurally because it will settle differently than the original mortar. Conly could and should have matched the mortar color AND type but did not. These are things an expert mason knows and Conly didn't though he claimed he's an expert with tuck pointing. I now have to pay three times as much for someone to come fix Conly's bad work on my house even though I also already paid Conly...

He's incredibly efficient, honest, and straight to the point. He truly works to get you the knowledge that you need to have before you buy a home. I have had two houses inspected by him and he prevented me from buying the first one that was falling apart. I couldn't tell and he saved me 10's of thousands, no question. The second house was a new build, and I was debating even getting an inpsection. Again, Tom saved me thousands. He pointed out things that I would have never thought of, like a brand new roof that wasn't installed correctly. I never knew that this could happen, but it does I guess. I've used other inspectors in the past and they don't hold a candle to Tom. The other people I have used have given me weak reports that make it difficult to ask the seller for concessions. With Tom's DVD reports, you can show the seller exactly what is wrong, and let them listen to Tom's affirmative description. I can't recommend this business enough. If you're buying a house, go with Homespeck for the inspection.

Believe me, you need all the hard cash you have for the house, and other inspectors we interviewed only took cash/checks. As a first-time home buyer, I had not anticipated how tight the deadlines are in the process. I told Allen my 'inspection objection' deadline and he immediately was able to tell if he was available to meet that deadline or not. I did not have to wait for a call-back like the first two inspectors I interviewed. Time is of the essence when buying a house! (..and yes, I interviewed several inspectors on the phone! This is a BIG deal - don't scrimp) He inspected the home we made an offer on and was very professional, thorough, and informative. We ended up with a laundry list of items of concern, and when we asked his advice told us how he would prioritize to the seller. He wrote up and printed a hard copy of his report on the day of the inspection and loaded up his photos to my jump drive so I didn't have to wait. Therefore I was able to send our objections to the seller far in advance of the deadline. Aside from the whole house inspection, we also requested radon testing. Allen uses a method the EPA uses instead of a grab sample or canister method. Not only did Allen do the final walk-through with us, he also spent time answering our questions without acting in a rush and going into further detail when he noticed we didn't quite understand. We feel very grateful to have found such a terrific house inspector! ~taramis
