Had an amazing time at Tigerlilys and a great start to our wknd. It had a great atmosphere about it and felt so chilled, we were givin a cozy booth at the back, I chose the ham hock terrine to start, then the steak, both were excellent the roasti with the steak was amazing (even better than the steak if I must say) to end the night we went for the shared mixed dessert, yum. Gorgeous bar full of gorgeous people! This is where I go if I want to indulge myself. The decor is gorgeous with chandeleirs and the most beautiful mosaic made of tiny little mirror pieces covering an entire wall- it is very glamourous. The cocktail and wine lists are extensive and the bar staff very polite and efficient, and they certainly know what they are doing. Tigerlily's also has the most impressive smokers garden I have ever seen! A small room (it is more like a room than a garden) in the middle of the pub with no roof but lots of lovely heaters. Tigerlily's is a lovely place to go for a treat, but unless you have a bottomless pocket, then it's not the place you could go all the time. Gorgeous, glamourous, expensive. read more

Tigerlily is stunning visually, it is expensive but they have an offer on at the moment with buy 1 get 1 free on certain drinks between 5 and 8. The Raspberry Mohito is in this offer and well worth a try. We only had a sharing platter and it was delicious though not a lot of food for the price! It is usually extremely busy at the weekends but if you want to go somewhere a bit special then this is your place. read more

Poor quality main. I ordered the scallop, monkfish and prawn spear. The rice was too hard to eat. My friend ordered mash which was swimming in olive oil. To add o this, the staff were not very attentive. Dessert - the chocolate fondu was good but hardly a difficult dessert to put together. Much like Elanor M., me and my friends were drawn into Tigerlily by the promise of sitting out in the sun drinking expensive, but pleasing drinks on George Street. Inside however, we were greeted by a huge queue of people who had obviously had the smae idea - but who werent getting served by the staff behind the bar, or so it seemed as the queue was moving so slowly. At least that time gave me chance to look around the place - its kind of funky and traditional at the same time, but gives off the impression that it is trying so hard to make you think its not trying at all. Much like the clientel, who have spent hour on thier hair, make up and clothes to make you think they have spent no time at all on thier hair, make up and clothes. Anyway, once we got our drink (about 6 1/2 years later), I nearly chocked as I paid for my round. Evenm though we sat in the sun drinking them, a cloud certainly hung over our table. read more

Overpriced and utterly pretentious. Choice of beer is incredibly limited. Unless you want whatever is currently the most fashionable lager or cider, then they will not have what you want. The wide range of spirits does compensate for this to a certain extent though. Beware of the random admissions policy. I was admitted without problem initially, but when I stepped out for a cigarette I was refused re-entry. No explanation was offered. (I was wearing black shoes, black trousers and a blue shirt. I was not wearing jeans or trainers). When I explained that my wife and drink were still inside though, I was finally allowed to re-enter. read more

Tigerlily was hyped up so much by friends and family that it seemed a place not to miss in Edinburgh. This is true. I understand the hype. The venue itself is pretty gorgeous, and on a Saturday night it was absolutely packed. I was blown away by the size of the cocktail menu. It is huge! Thirty six pages (some are photographs) of amazing cocktails! However, the cocktails I chose was disappointing. I went for my usual Bloody Mary, which is made with Belvedere Bloody Mary Vodka and Absolut Peppar vodka. Sounds amazing, right?! It was pretty diluted with the vodka, so that the punch of the flavours just wasn't there. It was very bland and boring. It didn't work for me, so that's why I took a star off my rating. Fancy spot. Trendy atmosphere and lighting. Food was ok but didn't get the best service due to our server was still new. So we had a few missed orders. I had the Tum Yum soup that came with shrimp and pork dumplings. Spicy and no vegetables? Ademe in a sauce that was sweet and spicy with a hint of wasaby. Maybe I should have had steak. When you initially walk in the door, you're expecting the place to be quite feminine, with pink hues and the smell of a Victoria Secret's storefront. As you venture toward the back, the atmosphere changes. Like many places on Georges St, this place is quite hip. Very nice staff and extremely attentive. The scene is great as well and the overall decor is inviting with cabana type booths in the back and a few long-tables as well. The lighting and decor is fantastic. I really enjoyed the way they have this place set up. As far as the food, I really enjoyed my meal. I had king prawns with Asian noodle salad. The bacon and scallops were excellent. Finally, the halibut had a good flavor, although it could have done without the creme on top. It's definitely a great place to come for dinner and drinks. read more

This place was the icing on the cake for our weekend break in Edinburgh. We treated ourselves to a room for a couple of nights and loved it! The room was very nicely furnished, comfy bed, plasma tv, ipod in the room, wooden floors, only grumble was the shower room - big enough for a bath but a piddly little shower that only could stand under. The place was extremely cool but didnt feel pretentious, just made us feel special. Love the disco ball in the stairwell, nice touch. read more

Tigerlily is a great place during the day or at night, the cocktail selection is great, (you have to try the Chilean Chica!) the layout of the place is great with really comfy seats, cool flat screen TV's and a fire place. It's a must if you havent been. The food is lovely but a little pricey for what you get. I'd much rather go for drinks at the weekend than dinner. read more

This is my favourite place to stay in the city and a great place to eat. The food is well above average and the staff are really friendly. When I think of Tigerlilly the following words come to mind; expensive, pretentious, cocktails, glitzy, shiny, pretty, and noisy. Basically, it's not for everyone. I was taken here for a congratulatory drink and being that bit fancy, it made the drink (a delicious cocktail) that bit more special. I would go back again, maybe for a pre-dinner cocktail if I found myself in the area and it wasn't too busy however I'd find it too expensive and pretentious to stay any longer. read more

Not for the faint hearted, tightfisted, the casual dresser or the non-pouter. we went here for my birthday, during a trip to edinburgh. Really nice food, on the night we went they had an offer on buy one get one free meals. So the food was great and the price was to. Spent most of the evening drinking different cocktails, there was a huge choice but not to expensive. Lots of ones I hadn't tried before. By far the best part of the meal was when I realised that they did a chocolate fondue for two, with fruit, marshmallows, biscuits; it was really good, never seen one in a restarunt before. The decor was calming and I loved the way they divided the tables up with the long strings of beads - the wall paper was fabulous and several people in the party have now got it on order. Tiger Lily is situated on George Street in Edinburgh which has so many similar bars and restaurants. In my opinion Tiger Lily stands out as a class apart from the competition in terms of style and atmosphere. The décor cannot be faulted and the cocktails and beers are great. The only downside in my opinion is the food. I'm not saying the food is bad, it's actually pretty good, however there is certainly room for improvement. I went there last year for a work Christmas lunch and again it got pass marks but it could have been better. Definitely worth a visit though. read more

My husband and I first recognized Tigerlily because it was conveniently located outside our window at the hotel Roxburghe. After dinner with some friends at a different establishment a friend who was familiar with Edinburgh suggested Tigerlily. I was extremely tired because I had flown in from the US that morning and had remembered that it was across the street from our hotel...so I agreed to go for a drink or two (knowing I could leave when I wanted and just hop across the street and go to bed). It was a Thursday night about 12:30...I guess they close at 1 so they warned us at the door and told us we were welcome to come in and then continue our fun late late night at their sister nightclub downstairs Lulu. We came in and had a few drinks at the front bar. The service was attentive yet the drinks were considerably weak, I guess you just have to ask for doubles. Even though, a half hour into our stay we were having so much fun that we decided to go downstairs and completely had forgotten about our jet-lag. Oh, and Tigerlily's decor is super modern and trendy, definitely one of the "coolest" places I have been in awhile. When we arrived downstairs we were sat at a corner table with some friends who were celebrating getting married that weekend. We had a blast! Our server, even in this crazy nightclub was attentive, but gave us enough space and she came over when we needed something. The Dj was great and open to suggestions (and actually played them). That was our FIRST visit to Tigerlily and Lulu. We had so much fun that Thursday we decided to bring different friends in on Friday. We were all staying at the Roxburghe like I said before so it was easy to get people to decide to go. On this visit we ventured to the bar in the back of the restaurant. This place on a Friday in July was PACKED! It was awesome. Lots of people my age, mid-twenties to mid-thirties, having cocktails with friends and family and most very good-looking. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. The bartenders in the back bar were great (well the guys). They always remembered what my husband and I were drinking and even though they were busy they were still very attentive. Also, after one round we opened a tab, they give you this number so you can tell them your tab number instead of your name (very cool!) and the bartenders remembered my tab number! AWESOME! They only thing I noticed was the female bartender, very pretty, but she was either new to the establishment or a new bartender altogether because it took this poor girl seriously 10 minutes to open a bottle of wine for a customer at the bar and then another 10 minutes to give them a check, probably 30 minutes in customer years (I'm a bar owner in the US). I think it would have impacted my experience had I been waiting for a drink like a lot of other people, but because of the male bartenders I was taken care of already. I know tipping isn't customary in the UK but I felt like my service was so excellent that I had to! So to recap... Great decor, great service (at both Lulu and Tigerlily), good drinks. The only thing that was missing was that I never tried the food. Maybe next time I'm in Edinburgh. :) read more

Big place. Reasonably good food and a busy bar for the beautiful and aspirational. Not cheap.

This is one of my most favourite bars/restauraunts in Edinburgh. It's only been opened for not much more than a year and it is out of this World. Huge chandilleirs hanging from the ceiling, beautiful decor and the most delicious menu. Try the home made beef-burger, definitely the best in Edinburgh bu a Country meal. The staff are amazing, really well trained and really passionate about the menu. Last time I was the staff member was so helpful, professional and attentive. It caters for all ages and is really modern and trendy. I have been with friends, with my Husband and also for my Mum's 50th and each time we go it keeps getting better. Tigerlily is a very stylish bar which serves very good food and a good selection of drinks. It is however quite posery and tends to be full of people in suits most nights of the week! It fits in with the rest of the bars in George St and is popular for hen and stag parties who want to be somewhere a bit more upmarket than the Grassmarket. It also has a basement club which can be good if a bit busy at the weekend. If you are going to Tigerlily to eat then ask to be seated in the back restaurant which is usually quieter than the main bar. Be warned - it is one of the more expensive bars in Edinburgh but does do deals on cocktails and food during the week. Tigerlily is part of the Montpeliers group (also own Ricks and Indigo Yard in the city centre) but is definitely the most expensive option of the 3. read more

Always get a really good meal here with some very good meal options. The only downside was no kids menu but picking a couple of sides kinda worked out ok. Staff as always were excellent and the location is extremely good. For evenings try out the cocktails, they have one that comes in a jam jar. read more

Attended a cocktail class hosted by Sam (9/5/15). Had a fantastic time, Sam was very entertaining and good at his job. We all came away with our own cocktail recipes which all tasted great. Would highly recommend this establishment for this experience. read more

My lovely boss gave my husband and I a gift voucher for Tigerlily. We booked a luxury room and dinner. I got there 4 hrs before my husband did and the room was freezing! I tried everything with the heater system but nothing. Now i am always cold so thought i would wait until he got there just in case it was just me. First thing he said "It is baltic in here!". He tried to sort but to no avail. he went down to complain and nobody every came to the room to help. Went down to dinner and complained again and was offered an extra duvet. I ws not worried about being cold in bed it was out of bed i was worried about. Eventually after going back up to our room at 12 and realising still was not fixed we eventually got someone to come up. he kept trying to tell us it was fine. The best bit of it was my husband is a heating engineer! So our £153 a night luxury room we had a fan heater on all night. Not quite the romantic back ground ambience we wanted! Everytime i go there always seems to be somethign wrong with the service. This is definetly the last time i will go. read more
