Grey and fun stadium to watch a game. They say this is one of the toughest places to play at. I might can believe this at times, but honestly was just a little disappointed in the crowd noise, but it's still very loud. The inside part of the stadium is nice and up to date. The seats are older and need repainting but still in great shape. The grass on the field is pristine and looks phenomenal. The outside even looks very good and up to date, very minimalistic. For the concourse area where the concessions are are extremely old. It needs updating badly. It's just not in good shape. They have great food and drink options, but just old and tattered. The bathrooms are even worse. It's like they have never even tried to update these. I mean you are using toilets and troughs, it's that bad. I honestly expected more. I walked around the whole stadium expecting there to be some cool LSU memorial of former player, but there was nothing. Just an old concourse that nobody has put any thought too. Overall, I expected much much more from the long tall tails I've heard from this place, but just didn't live up to the hype. Great time, great people, and great atmosphere. Just a very old stadium wrapped in glitter. Also, don't let the preconception fool you of people saying these are rude and ugly fans. They are not! These are some of the nicest fans I have ever met. I was wearing the opposing fans gear and was treated very well and very nicely. It definitely changed my thoughts on lsu fans, and honestly kind of made me a small fan of them. read more

First visit to Tiger stadium, what an experience. The seats weren't ideal for me, but it was a beautiful view nonetheless. It was a later game so it was nice to be there as the son went down. The evolution to get into this stadium was organized chaos. Also this stadium isn't like some others where you can roam to other sides. You only have access to the area where your seats are. Security is tight too! Do not look over the edge, lean on it, or sat food or drink, the state trooper's will check you on that. The area is super crowded during the games, get your parking figured out well in advance. read more

We went to Baton Rouge to see and LSU game. They call it Death Valley and they dominated Southeastern Lousiana. It is worth going to the game early, in particular that have a parade with the band, cheerleaders, and team that helped build excitement. This is a big stadium that sits about 102k. It was quick entering the stadium as security screening was pretty light. It is some walk to get to your seats, but they have some ramps. Food was just so-so and the beer selection was lacking. I had a pulled pork sandwich that was OK and some pizza that was not very good. The music played before the game was not very good, although it was better during the game. They have a big screen that shows replays and runs different fun videos during the game, including many shots of the audience. The band puts on a good halftime show. It is worth a visit. read more

The stadium itself is older, 101 years old to be exact, but has a ton of history there. They've also done a pretty good job of updating the stadium. They pack this place in there, fans go bonkers during the game, a very tough environment for any opponent to play. Parking was sold out for prepaid parking, but we were able to find parking near the stadium pretty easily prior to the game. Getting into the stadium was very easy, & getting out was too, but we did leave with 7 minutes left in the game. The people of Louisiana are 2nd to none, it's one of the my favorite places to visit in the country. Nothing beats Southern hospitality. However my next paragraph was unavoidable. The bleachers style of seating is dated. I get it, you need to make money. But the manor in which you cram seats in there is ridiculous. It's just not fair/right. The bleachers setup makes it far too cramped, I had to leave my seat after the 1st quarter, & stand by the entrance. For what I paid to be booted basically out of my area because we didn't have room seems bonkers. Having said that, watching an SEC matchup here at night was a bucket list type of item. read more

Tiger Stadium was a blast! As a lifelong college football fan, Tiger Stadium was #1 on my bucket list of stadiums to visit, and it did not disappoint! The stadium was loud, energetic, and unlike any other stadium atmosphere I've ever experienced. I really enjoyed LSU's pregame traditions, and I LOVED the music that they played before and during the game. The concourses were a little rough around the edges, and the food choices were a little uninspiring. However, you can just as easily chalk that up to tradition triumphing over corporatism. All-in-all, Tiger Stadium was everything that I thought it would be, and I'm so happy that I got to cross it off my bucket list! read more

Great time at LSU-ARK 2019 game. While seats were not on 50 yard we had a good few sideline goal line. Wifey is from BR area so this was an opportunity to have some family time with SIL and BIL. Already looking forward to our next game. Parking no problem since BIL had a pass at baseball stadium and tickets...no problem as YELPING friend had season tickets. Food outside stadium reasonably priced. We had jambalaya, red beans and rice, a meat pie. All were very good and not overly spicy!!! Next we watched players/coaches, cheerleaders, and band march down victory hill. Next was dreaded long lines for entrance and security...no problem they were set up perfectly for the crowd. The roar of Tiger fans is the loudest in the SEC, as Tiger Stadium upholds its reputation as one of college football's finest and most intimidating stadiums. After its recent renovation only a couple of years ago, the expansion has allowed nearly 100,000 people to crowd the LSU campus in hopes of rooting for another Tiger win. "Death Valley" as its known to other parts of the country is a must visit for all college football fans. The place is huge and for most football stadiums, a large capacity crowd usually means the view is limited but that doesn't exist here. The view is solid, though not spectacular from the nosebleeds but I'm sure the view rocks closer toward the sidelines. Probably the best area to sit in is near the student section, where the band is blasting to the crowd while spreading lots of Tiger cheer. Like all major sporting venues, some improvements could be made, especially in the crowd management area. Ushering the heaves of people in is difficult in general areas (aside from the very organized student entry) and is a very slow process. While people are walking up the stadium, the interior looks like an empty parking garage or oversized barn before one hits the concession stand area. Parking is so limited that many visitors will have to park as far as 2 miles from the stadium and the transportation buses are limited due to the massive tailgating near the campus. The general seats are not super comfy and it doesn't help that they aren't large enough for overweight individuals (thus affecting others sitting in the row). Restrooms could use some cleaning, but then again what venue doesn't have some issues with long lines and messy bathrooms? With a little helping of the cheap stadium food and a great view, this is one of the best places to catch a Tiger football game. It really is as advertised as one of the loudest places I've ever visited. When the crowd begins the Tiger chant after every touchdown, the energy is unlike anything I've seen. For my 200th review I decided to review my alma matar (undergrad and grad school) LSU Tiger Stadium known as Death Valley! As an undergrad I didn't attend many games in the student section but I vividly remember one cold game when a bunch of my freshman friends and I brought blankets in the cold metal bleachers to cheer our LSU Tigers on! Ahh the good old days! But now the stadium has evolved into this even bigger stadium with added seating! Now a days when I'm super lucky I'll get invited to a game. The last game I went to was actually last year around Hurricane Isaac and we had princess parking with this pass that got us on the grass next to the parking lot! Sweet!! And the seats were great! I still love cheering Geaux Tigers and hearing the LSU Band from Tigerland play! Oh and don't forget to visit Mike the Tiger before the game! And of course tailgate before the game is an art in itself! You can grab food before you enter the stadium. I vaguely remember sharing a small pizza with my friend before we entered the stadium! The SEC has some of the best football stadiums in the country. SEC stadiums, for the most part, are known for their size and how loud it gets on game days. LSU's Tiger Stadium is the best of the bunch for a number of reasons. First, the fans in Louisiana are just plain passionate about their football and show it on game days (Tiger Stadium is always near the very top of every list for loudest stadiums in the country). Secondly, LSU prefers to play their games at night which makes the LSU faithful ever the more loud (more time during the day to get your drink on before the game). Finally, Tiger Stadium is the stadium other stadiums emulate. The architecture and acoustics at this stadium are second to none. Heck just last month Tiger Stadium got voted as the top college stadium. It wasn't even close. Look it up. So for kickass football camarderie get down to the bayou and hang with the LSU faithful. The level of shit you get as an opposing fan here is off the charts. I don't know if it is because I am an Arkansas fan or if they do this for everyone. So, if a visitor, expect the following - You will be "tiger baited" hundreds of times. Just smile and move on. - Expect some rude comments and hand gestures thrown your way, which will get worse the drunker they get. My advice is stay thick skinned and let it roll off. If you actually start to engage them in conversation they tend to drop the BS and actually become very friendly. You may even score some great tailgate food and drinks. The last thing you want to do is give it back in an aggressive style which may lead to you getting your ass kicked. Remember, there are a hell of a lot more of these corndog smelling LSU fans than there are of you. So the campus is beautiful and you should really try to walk around and check it out, assuming you can stomach the tiger baits. The stadium is nice and very loud. Excellent game environment, especially at night. The fans really give the Tigers a real advantage. Parking by the river is probably the easiest for visiting fans and it is free. Now traffic leaving is a bitch so prepare to be in traffic for a while. Highly recommend. read more

I love SEC and this stadium is not quite as big as Neyland Stadium but it definitely has the Roar of a tiger deep embedded in its heart! It's right in campus area so you will see a lot of students and fans like coming from everywhere. Be careful because nearby is not the best neighborhood but a lot of schools and stadiums are set up that way. You shouldn't have too much trouble on a big game day or heavily crowded event held at the stadium. Ladies beware the Roar of the tiger comes in the form of long lines when it's bathroom time at halftime Etc. The men's restrooms usually are in and out. Just thought I would make that a quick note because that is something that is easily over seen and looked past when it comes down to the time. "It's Saturday night in Death Valley" Chills. Every time I hear those words I get chills. You can't come to this stadium and NOT be excited. Try to, I dare you. It's loud as hell in here, the LSU fight song is awesome and the fans are great. Since the games are almost all at night tailgating before the game is a must. Let me tell you how to do this effectively. 1. Go with someone who has a camper (hello...restrooms and AC...essential) 2. Don't start drinking at 10am. Trust me. 3. Eat something and alternate water with alcohol. You'll still have a fabulous time plus won't be hammered by the time the game starts. I know from experience. Years ago I didn't follow my own advice for my very first game and tailgating experience. Let me just say by the end of the game I was pretty darn tipsy. So tipsy I did something a little uh, crazy. I wonder if that restraining order has been lifted yet. Haha...I kid. But it was completely out of character for me. Yea, though I walk through the Valley of Death, I will fear no evil, for the LSU Tigers and 100,000 boisterous fans art with me.... A work friend is taking an internal transfer from one LA (Los Angeles) to another LA (Louisiana). It's safe to say that he's in for a bit of a cultural "adjustment". Clay is also a huge USC (University of Spoiled Children) fan and of course my heart bleeds Cal Blue and Gold here on the Left Coast. The only thing we actually agree on is the uncomfortable seating in Memorial Stadium and our mutual dislike for UCLA (You Clowns Lost Again). And like his beloved coach, Clay is also moving on to maybe better things. Clay is also in for a big surprise regarding college football rivalries and rabid fans. As an Undergrad at a Big Ten School, I thought my Iowa Hawkeyes (2010 Orange Bowl Victors) were the ultimate in team spirit, fan enthusiasm, and disdain for anything in Michigan Blue. Then I went to Graduate School at Texas A&M and realized that I had no clue. Even to this day, I would gladly stand the entire football game for my beloved Aggies and can only call that small junior college in Austin by its only proper name - t.u. Hopefully Clay will catch an LSU game like I have, as the Tigers and the other Purple People Eaters of Death Valley feed the opposite team to the Lions. He'll soon learn that our good natured California football rivalry is much quieter "Shell" of the real thing (and a lot more fun). As for my own experience, If you've never been here, you'll never understand. And if you've been here, you'll never be able to explain it. Hmmm....this place is pretty much indescribable. I'll break it down into different categories.... Pregame atmosphere: The RV's start rolling onto campus Wednesday and Thursday night. That's when you get little tingle in your body...especially when for the first game of the year. Friday afternoon rolls around, and you start seeing all the tents litter campus. By Friday at 7pm.....the RV lot known as "Touchdown Village" by the business school is filled as far as the eye can see. You see all the flags up, the smoke filling the thick humid sky. Gameday: Tailgating lasts all day on Saturday, from pre-dawn to late at night. The tailgate menu is not only unique, but LEGENDARY. For crying out loud, people cook with huge wooden OARS. There is some good food and libations all day long. Be sure to make your way to "Victory Hill" for the Golden Band from Tigerland's march to Tiger Stadium. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2qMKTpc4Y8 It is only a preview of what's about to ensue inside the coliseum to the left. Gametime: When you walk into Tiger Stadium, you'll instantly notice a sign that says "Welcome to Death Valley". What a sick perverted sign. If you have the privilege to be a student, you are already waiting in the stadium before the band gets there. The moment you hear the bass drums inside the stadium, the stadium transforms from just being a stadium into "Death Valley". If you come in the stadium late, you'll instantly notice the smell of bourbon in the stadium as everyone is tanked from the all day affair. 15 minutes before kickoff, the band lines up in the south endzone for "Pregame". On the P.A. system, Dan Borne announces the starting lineup, and finishes off with the weather. The chance of rain is always "NEVER". Back on the field, all of the band members are bent over with their instruments, and when the drum major starts marching forward in Military tradition, the instruments all rise up, and chills begin going through the crowd of 93,000+. Once the drum major reaches midfield, the Tiger Band begins "Hold that Tiger". There is a drum entrance that is followed by 4 notes. These 4 notes send the crowd into a frenzy. Why is that? Who knows and who cares! The crowd noise has been measure at about 125-130 db. Google that and see how loud that is. During the game...the Tiger Band interacts with the crowd more than any other crowd in the country. Death Valley has a unique song/cheer for 1st Down/2nd Down/3rd Down. The 4th down stop song is not some generic "Star Wars:Imperial March" crap 85% of other schools' bands play, but a unique "Chinese Bandits" song honoring the defensive teams of the late 50's. Win or lose, Death Valley is what college football is all about. A University of Florida blogger said it best after his visit in 2007. "Death Valley is just as loud as any big time stadium in the country. What sets it apart is that it gets unhinged more than any other place in the country." GEAUX TIGERS! read more

Seriously though, Tiger Girls are perhaps some of the prettiest cheerleaders and fans in the college sports world. First-Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium - I'm an LSU Tiger Girl in my heart. I wish I was anyway. They are soooooooooo good looking. My own Tiger Girl brought me here and allowed me to experience the grandeur of this stadium. One of the loudest crowds, one of the biggest venues for games, one of the best sports experiences in the world. It's absolutely amazing. It's the heart and soul of Baton Rouge. Honestly it's nearly as amazing when it's empty too. I love coming to this stadium every single time I'm in town which is probably 25 times so far and counting. Most recently in 2013. I've been to every cool stadium in the UK & North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I've toured America as a musician for 7 or 8 years. In that time, I've seen sports games at, or visited when empty (and usually both), at almost every major stadium in US and Canada. I have pictures of most which I will upload at some point. Also, on future travels, I plan to take new pix, and add more stadia! Watch this space! ***back to regular review*** All that aside though, this stadium is an absolute fortress. It's loud, it's intense (it's not in tents, because it's not a circus), and it's palatial. It's a huge bowl of yellow and purple (purple is so not a sexy colour but when you combine it with tiger girls and bright yellow, it becomes sexy), and is one of the 10 biggest stadiums in the country and one of the best, too. There is no way this stadium could not get a 5 star rating. I've had great concerts in Baton Rouge too so it's one of my favourite places to visit. I'll be the first to admit, that I am not a huge LSU fan. Ok, if I'm being totally honest, I don't really follow college sports at all. With that being said, Tiger Stadium is really cool and from what I understand, it is one of the greatest college stadiums in the country. There is no denying the amount of enthusiasm and energy of the Tigers fans that pack the stadium on game day. Games are usually followed by a full day of tailgating, so the fans are extra excited. There are two large screens on either side of the stadium, so no matter where you are seated, you are sure to see all of the action. I really like the fact that the band is in the stands in the stadium. They really get everyone worked up and add to the rowdy atmosphere of the game. Concessions are sold in the stadium, and although they are pretty pricey, the line moves fast and the staff seems to know how to handle the large crowd. Tiger game day atmosphere is without question a 5 star experience. The stadium is iconic and seats over 100,000. But there's not room for your BUTT! The seating is tight and about as cramped I have ever experienced anywhere. We were fortunate to visit on a less than filled night and had room to stretch out, but for the first half we sat in a filled bleacher section and talk about not having any elbow room. I had a great time tailgating at LSU and rooting for the Tigers at "Death Valley". Geaux Tigers!!! Here is a description from Wikipedia of what I saw "A crowd of 93,039, the largest crowd in Tiger Stadium history, were on hand to witness the return of former LSU coach Nick Saban to Death Valley as head coach of the #1 ranked Crimson Tide of Alabama. With the score tied, a block of a chip shot field goal that would have given Alabama the win was blocked by LSU lineman Ricky-Jean Francois as time expired and sent the stadium into an absolute frenzy. Horrible drinks were weak as can be and service didn't even help you to your seats. Not worth going to a game or an event with the amount of lack of service here. Good luck finding a worthy drink if you visit here. read more

So anyone can tell from experience that anybody who wrote a negative review about LSU stadium was obviously a visiting losing team. Southern hospitality abounds at Tiger Stadium free food free drinks all the nicest people and conversations you could imagine and that's before the game even starts. Geaux Tigers!!!!! read more

I wanted to give it 4 1/2 stars b/c my only complaint is the food at the concessions. We all know the prices are OUTRAGEOUS ($16.50 for 3-waters). That is a given for stadium food but it should at least be edible. Hot dogs, burgers (disgusting) & chips for the nachos extremely salty & the cheese taste like powdered macaroni government cheese. It was awful. The only seat complaints are the bleacher type seats where you are packed in like sardines. So you better not be touchy b/c you will be all up in your right & left neighbors legs, hips, shoulders & even breathes business your so close. Staff is very friendly. Fans & game day are the best! read more

DA DA DAAAAAAAA DA!!!! For my 350th review, and considering football season is here, I pick... TIGER STADIUM!!! It's heaven on earth, in Baton Rouge. Oh how I love thee Tiger Stadium. I can't think of one bad memory in this place (even after that Florida loss) and that's probably what makes it so special. If you haven't experienced the awesomeness that is Tiger Stadium get your behind to Baton Rouge on a Saturday night! I have been through the brutal heat games in September, the bitter cold games in November for Arkansas, and many in between. I don't think I can pick one favorite game, honestly. They all hold special memories with friends and always end with a good time in Touchdown Village. I love that you can see this stadium (the only one in the SEC) from I-10 and give it an appropriate "salute" if you are passing by on the bridge in the BR. You may ask the question "What's the difference between a day game and a night game in Tiger Stadium?" the answer is... At night you can smell the Bourbon on the field! read more
