There are a couple of gas station fridges where they keep a few things, ginger beer, a few organics, typical health store fare. I quickly started to peruse through their selection of essential oils, which wasn't extensive either. I had opened a vial of pine oil, not noticing it wasn't a tester bottle, which nearly every health store should be carrying alongside the new bottles. The woman pointed out a small sign under the cabinet that patrons were to buy any oils they opened. I smiled at first thinking shed let me off the hook, but I didn't get that impression from her. I told her she should seriously consider buying the tester bottles, she agreed. I was a lil irritated at this point for being stuck with purchasing an item I wasn't even there for, and wasn't enthusiastic about spending more of my money there. The blaring religious music, some Gregorian nightmare, didn't help. Thankfully, I started chatting with another clerk, a younger woman who was lovely and helpful. I had decided on a bar of tea tree oil soap, which lathered wonderfully, and smelled great. Prices were typical of similar places. And honestly they're made very well and very deliciously. So for this reason it's well worth stopping into Stripes for some snacks, in a town which doesn't have that much good food.
