I was out doing a bit of Christmas shopping while waiting on news of my car's MOT and Service (eep!) and came across this wee shop. Knowing not to spend a lot of money as the car always ends up expensive. So I thought I'd have a wee nosey and check the place out. To my surprise the prices were brilliant, with some items starting from £1. They had all kinds of Christmassy things in, kitchen utencils, fresh ground herbs in bags, stationary type stuff, and I can't remember what else as there was loads of cool items and gagets. Tiger is located where Barretts used to be, the store is bigger as they've opened it up into probably where the back store room used to be. I did notice that the staff's t-shirts and the labelling were foreign, it looked Swedish style, so felt a wee kick of Ikea with all the knick-knacks and nae furniture. I'm not too sure where Tiger is from but it's certainly no local. The staff at the tills were very pleasant. I purchased a couple of Christmas presents but I cannot disclose at this time as the person I bought them for might read this. Let's just say they will get a massive giggle out of them. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for something a bit different and it'd be interesting to try out their herbs. So, if you're up that end of town make sure you pop in to have a wee gander, you never know what you might find. read more

But the wonderful thing about tiggers, I mean Tiger, is that it's one of those shops that's basically full of everything you just didn't know wanted. And even the odd random thing that you actually need. It's cheap, decent Ikea-ish quality/design, and generally just awesome. I'd never heard of Tiger before, and probably for this reason I hadn't ever popped in. We were recently meandering down Sauchiehall Street and I took a closer look in the windows. Brightly coloured homewares! Stationery! Cute toys! Astonishingly low prices! (Their words, not mine). So in we ventured. Wow, this place is a treasure trove of stuff. Some stuff is pointless but some of it was amazing. I was restrained with my purchases (only because I was with Graeme H) but I swear if I make it here to visit here on my own, there's all our money gone (just kidding ... or am I?). The shop is tidy, bright and easy to navigate. There was lot of people in for a browse but it wasn't crowded. They stock a really surreal range of stuff: homewares, blankets, cooking stuff, spices (really good prices on large packets), glue guns, fancy dress, stationery, kids toys, office supplies, make up, bike accessories. This is a fabulous place to pop in for presents as I'm sure you can find something for everyone here. The only thing I picked up was a cookie cutter alphabet set but there was really cute presents for my nephew, as well as bike accessories for my Dad so no doubt I'll be back in the future... like a tiger! Today was the day that I finally appreciated Tiger. I've been in a couple of times before and just didn't really 'get' the concept. It's carries the most eclectic range of products that you will find anywhere - stationery, craft items, kitchen gadgets, and, bizarrely, spices. I think it was the spices that threw me. Today, I 'got' it - it's just an amazing shop. I could fill my house with this shop. There's probably not much in here that I wouldn't buy if I had the money and the space. Today they had some excellent yoga bargains - £2 for a yoga block is a very good offer. They also had a see through cat poncho at £5 and a foam brain for £3. Literally from the sublime to the ridiculous. It's a great place for quirky presents, but also if say, you are having a party and want to theme your table settings, or coordinate decor for some event or other. I'm imagining really - I never have parties and am unlikely to have any sort of event that requires coordinated decor, but if it's ever a possibility, I will be in Tiger at the break of dawn to stock up. I will definitely be back for some of the crafting products, and no doubt my kitchen drawers will end up full to the brim with their funky and cool kitchen tools. Alongside the fun quirky mad stuff, they also have some very well designed and stylish items. Today, I bought some beautiful tea light holders - they are matt white, very fine china, with jet black nature silhouettes printed on them. Very stylish I thought, and only £2. I also bought a 'printers' drawer' for a tenner. I have been looking for one of these for over a year, and had found some in a second hand shop, but they were a bit big, hideously expensive, and manky, because once upon a time, they were actually printers' drawers. So I'm most pleased with my replica. I managed to resist the bicycle horn that is in the shape of a cartoon bear's head, but only just, it was close. I often passed this shop but never ventured in till now. Can't say that l ever heard the name before and always thought this store as a pop up shop, here today and gone tomorrow. This shop reminds me so much of an upper market pound land, even though this store would be an ideal shop to buy some last minute birthday or Christmas gifts. read more

Roar! Tiger is a wee Scandinavian gem on Sauchiehall Street, stocking a wide - almost random - mix of products, the common theme is stylish and inexpensive. Founded in Copenhagen, the Danish chain has expanded across Europe to bring northern European funky design to the masses. You'll find stationery, hobbycrafts, homewares, herbs and spices, art materials, cards, bike bells, toys, seasonal items, and so on. The pricing is rounded and straightforward (£1 for two / £3 for one, etc). The staff are smiley and friendly, and the shop is nicely laid out and impeccibly tidy - Scandi-style! Well worth a browse if you're in the area, you'll almost certainly pounce on a bargain you never knew you needed! read more

Why did I not know that I needed *insert any item sold at Tiger*!!! I normally have a reason for coming here, looking for something specific, and almost always find something else I didn't know I needed. "It's only £2 and it's so awesome!" is a constant phrase in my head as I browse this fun shop. Tiger sells stylish, inexpensive products and the range changes quite frequently. The quality is normally pretty good, even with such a low price tag. Need stationery? A cakestand? Toys? Craft stuffs? Then go here. This is shop is my first stop for small gifts and Christmas stocking-fillers! Now, Tiger, I think you need to expand to a bigger shop. In fact, you need a huge shop. Somewhere I could spend a fortnight being a happy little shopper. :) read more

Love this store ! I have longed to go in it many times but somehow it's always closed when I'm near by!! Finally today I made it in and it literally took my friend and I 30 min just walking around looking at EVERYTHING !! It's that kind of place where everything is so cheap you find your self saying ... Sure I could use chicken egg warmer covers for £1... And I don't know how I ever lived without an elephant shaped USB port for £4 ! YA it's trouble ! Amazing wonderful cheap randomness trouble! I loved it! I held back and only purchased things I felt I "really" needed... Some beads for crafting , a huge unicorn rub on tattoo and some other stuff like that ;) They had tons of office support stuff that I was drooling over but couldn't justify at the moment (BUT the run-on tat??.. I think of Tiger as Ikea meets Poundland meets Paperchase. Cheap and cheerful, there aren't many items that cost more than £10. Tiger has lots of homeware, stationery, sweets and snacks, toiletries, art and craft materials, party supplies and a ton of other bits and bobs. They have new stock each month and often have a seasonal range. On my last visit I was looking for children's party supplies and I found lots of nice things including 10m of bunting for £1, bargain! I bought two plus some mini bunting because it was too cute. I always find something in here that makes me smile and that alone is enough to make me a fan. read more

I first came across Tiger on one of my holiday jaunts, I'm sure it was in Copenhagen and I was lured in by the masses of cheap stationery/ random products. This one in Glasgow is always good for a look despite being a lot smaller than some of Tigers foreign stores. I pick up lots of wee random stationery things like stickers and tags, and some of the kids art and craft type products are great value for money. Some of the home items don't look the best quality but are mega cheap, but if you choose carefully there's some nice items. Staff are mega friendly too and the store has a great playlist. Everytime I've been in there's been some happy 80s pop track playing - you know the type that you have no idea of the song but you sing along to all the words! Makes for happy lunchtime wandering. read more

Tiger almost feels like IKEA without furniture. It's full of random products, decorated in bold colours and kitschy prints, to fill your car/desk/home with glee. Ultimately it's a fun place to browse around & pick up a few bits n bobs when the mood strikes. The fun thing about Tiger is that you could almost plan a party around the items on sale. It's a shame that this store is fairly small by Tiger standards as the larger stores have even more random stuff to peruse. Despite the cheap prices, I've never really had a problem with the quality of their produce, it's not the best, but it does what it's supposed to. The pricing is very straight forward, and as most things are rounded up to the nearest whole pound, you don't end up with a mountain of coppers. I've never bought any of their food, but I like checking out their spice & tea packets as there are a few interesting mixes on sale. It may be the only place in the UK that sells traditional Danish tea blends, unless Claus Ohlsen has moved from hammers to honeware! read more

This was my first time in this shop after hearing about it from a friend (who heard about it from someone at work). Not really knowing what to expect, I had high hopes of walking out with some fab finds, only to find that it's pretty much a scaled down version of IKEA but with a lot of knick knacks for the home and no 'put it together yourself' furniture. There's pretty much only one way in and one way out as it's set up like a bit of a maze with loads of cheap goods scattered along the path. Everything is color coded depending on where you are in the store and things are neatly presented. I'm not saying I'll ever have a need to go back to this store, as I can find most of what they sell, cheaper at other stores, but if I'm looking for something funky to add to my home decor or school supplies, I know where to go. I walked out of Tiger with my robot ornament that now sits in my christmas tree, none the wiser. read more

Okay, so there might not be anything I actually NEED in Tiger but I love popping in for a browse and picking up cool inexpensive knick-knacks for myself or little gifts for others.
