No, that' is incorrect information as I never once indicated my son had MMA experience and that is…read morea flat out lie. As instructors you are to ensure the safety of children that are in your care. You failed to do that as mentioned, I saw no activity from the instructors when my son was choking. This happened repeatedly and you should be ashamed of yourselves for calling yourself an instructor. At the start of class, your main concern was to get your liability form signed so you can negligently not take care of those who signed their rights over within your martial school. Animal control should be called for your aggressive dogs that you have open to the public. As you clearly said, "don't get too close" that enough tells you they're not safe to be around the public. The schedule you mentioned is only good for your school as you can maximize profits and not have to entertain different scheduling. So what if I pay the same price for my son attending your school half the time? Right? It's all about money first. My son was not safe and I would never ever not for 1 million years, bring my son back to your school. Your school should be closed to negligence. Parents please be aware and watch these instructors very carefully as I believe their actions speak for themselves. See if they are engaged or they hang out my the clock and focus on a countdown timer. As far as instructions, and from AI, from a child psychologist's view, young kids thrive on clear, consistent guidance but don't always need constant hand-holding. In martial arts, they might need frequent reminders early on to master steps or focus, especially if they're under ten. Structured repetition builds muscle memory, so gentle cues help without overwhelming them. As they grow confidence, ease up to encourage independence. I guess the instructors Ego's are more important than what's good for young children.

Dojo tucked away in Lake Ridge, VA…read more I was looking for a dojo because my pre-teen son wanted to join after watching Cobra Kai. And I was just in luck! Blue Dragon Martial Arts teaches Okianawan Karate (Mr. Miyagi style). Blue Dragon is also a great place for adults! My retiree mother signed up and is progressing through the belts.

Classes are great, you learn a lot, and you'll definitely get in shape! I have been practicing martial arts in various styles (Goju, Aikido, Taekwondo, and Krav Maga) for the past 20 years or so and I've never really felt at home and welcome in those dojos. That feeling instantly changed when I walked into the door to inquire about Blue Dragon Martial Arts. I was greeted kindly and very warmly by Sensei Juan and had a great conversation about what I was looking for, their rich history, and what they could offer. While speaking with Sensei Juan I could clearly see they practiced what they preached by observing the kids class in session. Great importance was put on harmony, knowledge, respect, self confidence, self defense, and the underlying traditions of pure Okinawan karate-do. This approach goes light years above and beyond what my past experiences had been (where I was just a face in the crowd and personal growth was an absolutely foreign concept) and I immediately felt like family and that I belonged. We went over the logistics of what to expect at end of the 6 month introductory period and the price points/contract details which are very favorable just as an fyi...no lock-in here! Not once did I feel like I was stuck in a car dealership being sold something. In any event I reported back home and discussed signing up as a couple with my SO. We stopped by a few weeks later to introduce her to Sensei Juan and tour the dojo and the vibe was still very much friendly and full of energy as it was the first time. We signed up, started our classes a few weeks later due to real life being crazy, and have enjoyed every minute of it and have learned so much. The certified black belt instructors we've trained with are super knowledgeable, helpful, enthusiastic, and bring a lot of energy and fun to the mat. They are very passionate about teaching and building a strong foundation, as well as compassionate in understanding not all of us are in terminator shape and they adjust things accordingly while still pushing us to do our best. Classes are usually divided with one day being Physical Training (aka conditioning), one day focusing on kata/bunkai/sparring (traditions), and an open mat day to practice whatever we wish and ask any questions/get any pointers. I highly recommend Blue Dragon for yourself and/or your kids...it's a great time in a great place to focus on becoming a better person. Plus an awesome bonus is you can say "Hey, I actually train in the style from The Karate Kid...Chojun Miyagi was a real person who founded the school".

Everyone's body and skills are so different, and these instructors fully embrace that. Their goal in Krav Maga is not to teach us pretty kicks and impressive moves - their goal is to make sure we get home to our loved ones safely. It is all about developing your mindset, muscle memory, and instincts so that, when it really counts, you avoid the deer-in-headlights effect. Even as a beginner, I feel like I walk around my community in Manassas with more confidence and awareness and have learned how to reduce my chances of being a victim in the first place. If for some reason you don't feel like you have the time to commit to classes, I HIGHLY recommend you check out their monthly seminars! Women's Self Defense, Edged Weapon Defense, Car Jacking Defense, and the list goes on!! After watching many of the kid's classes, I love what I see! They're teaching kids how to use their voice, how to stand up for themselves and when it is appropriate to take physical action.
