Plus, the beach proximity of our rental was easy - less than a city block. The property easily housed my party of 7 as expected. There was ample hot water, the air conditioning worked well, the keyless entry operated as expected, the kitchen dishware and cookware were sufficient and most of the house was generally clean. A few things were merely irritating: - The sliding glass door that connects the master bedroom to the patio does not work. A physical effort and a noisy rocking motion will open it enough for a thin person to slide out sideways. Once I got this back closed we did not use it again; - The curtains on those sliding glass doors are very VERY sheer. Effectively they are see-through. Anything happening in that master bedroom is shared with any guests on the patio; - The black patio chairs are peeling some kind of substance -- possibly old paint. Whatever that stuff is, it's almost impossible to get it off your legs. One thing was grossly unacceptable: a non-working freezer. Imagine 7 days in the summer at an ~$8,000/week LUXURY rental with a non-working basic appliance! No advance warning. Infuriating is that fact that the owners KNEW this. I know that they knew because there is a small card on one of the kitchen walls, warning the renter that the freezer is slow to freeze after a new guest enters and that 24-48 hours ought to be given. Well, it did not freeze in the entire week. Spoiled food, zero ice, etc. An AI search suggested I ought to be due some compensation and per my description, suggested $150 to $400 per day depending on whether the owner provided an interim solution, such as a cooler with ice or a secondary freezer. After some email correspondence and conversations, the property manager (Demetrea Thomas) refunded $550. In total. She told me the owners had placed an auxiliary freezer in the kitchen (and apparently my party of SEVEN - none of us blind) all missed it for 7 days. When I disputed this absurd assertion, she promised to credit me more if she can verify that in fact there was no auxiliary freezer. I asked her for a photo of it. Dishonesty, rottenness and possibly criminal Well, Demetrea DID send me a photo. The photo showed a refrigerator/freezer combo standing right there in the dining room, beneath a light green wall tapestry. Thankfully, among the various pictures taken by my family was one showing that very wall with the green tapestry. It is quite apparent that there is no 5' tall stainless steel appliance standing there. I shared this with Demetrea on July 7. Not a peep from her and I presume I shall not. Not sure who is more rotten - the owners of 167 Mooring, the owners of Palmetto Dunes, or the property manager Demetrea Thomas.

Despite that, The place is always incredibly clean,comfortable and friendly so this is the place we always want to stay on Hilton head Island. The rooms are so well kept that they look brand new. They are more than adequately equipped with huge bathrooms and bedrooms and a nice balcony. There's a restaurant actually a couple of places to eat that are across the Laguna where you can walk to eat. This isn't a kid's only place either. Adults find it equally fun and enjoyable whether you'll be sitting in a hammock, swimming in the pool,doing a fitness walk around the property or watching the squirrels and birds. Kids enjoy it when Chip and Dale come around. There are numerous activities to keep the kids busy. This is not a character centric resort but more on the relaxing side. Every person who works here is friendly and polite, and willing to help with anything you need. You truly feel like you are valued here. Outside of the resort, there is plenty of shopping up and down the main road. You won't be bored here at Disney, trust me.

On this past trip, I was able to get off the cruise ship in Miami, stop in for a quick hello at my father in laws house and then head up north. Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort was the perfect stop. This year I planned for a two night stay at the property. We reserved a two bedroom unit with a magnificent view of the low country coastal marsh. Birds and assorted wild life are flying by, it can't get more picturesque from what I'm seeing from our private deck. *From September 8, 2025, through March 2026, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort will undergo exterior maintenance. You may see and hear construction and refurbishment work during daytime hours. They got rid of the ESSO sign! I'm glad to see Disney is making the investment on this property. Our room looks great, it seems like they first worked on all of the interior rooms. We just stayed at the Boardwalk Hotel, this two bedroom had the same contemporary feel. The Murphy Bed is similar to The Boardwalk, it's a great design. The question is, is it really a "Disney" hotel? I own points in Disney Vero Beach, Vero Beach is a true Disney hotel. Wanna know something? If I'm driving back to NY from a Disney Orlando Hotel, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort is my next stop. Ice cold, flavored water and its own restroom are also included in the workout area. The hotel is not cheap, but it is well worth it. Make plans in advance because they do fill up. Service dogs are allowed however they have to be in a vest. Unfortunately, I was unable to eat here; my dad and I were so busy we didn't get a chance. This hotel literally is right on the beach; I do not know if most of the rooms are point only room rooms and then some rooms are a hotel room rooms- but whenever I want to book this property, every single room is full. Yes, there is a mention of the obnoxious sales presentation, and my decline is readily accepted. Good news is that at 2:00 check in, Our villa is ready and we are presented with keys. This is a Great Service, and we hope that it continues. As usual, Surfwatch has been updates; fresh paint, new furniture, coffee pot, and other. In our view, we find value in our maintenance fees.... Surfwatch is well-managed property. Our practice is to lunch at Hudson's on arrival day; travel tip - skip the on-water deck and enjoy the views and lunch from A/C tables at windows. Surfwatch is home for the next two weeks; we have been visiting HHI for 60 years, and are HHI Marriott Vacation Club members for 20+ years - Our membership has resulted in Marriott exchanges to nearly all US Marriott Vacation Clubs including Hawaii. We like the mid-island location, and while we also own two weeks at Grand Ocean, we do enjoy Both properties. An advantage of autumn and spring ownership (especially autumn) is the mostly child free environment, and the many, many opportunities to converse with fellow senior citizens. Things in the room worked as expected and the room was clean with updated bedding. The onsite breakfast restaurant offers a buffet or menu options. It is not included in the room price but you can use Hilton daily credits if you have them. The food was good as was the service. There is a shuttle that will drive you up to a mile or two away, when available. You can ask the valet to take you to the shops at shelter cove or similar. Overall an enjoyable stay in a seasoned resort on the beach.

When the gym re-opened, multiple pieces of equipment were out of order. The condos are very comfortable and the kitchen is well-stocked. The property is pretty and they have games like corn hole and shuffleboard, as well as a daily lineup of free activities to enjoy (bingo, trivia, s'mores).

The resort also features a fitness center, organized daily activities like turtle feeding, and on-site bike rentals. The recently renovated guest rooms offer stunning ocean views. We chose the Sonesta Resort primarily because of these features. Since we were not keen on staying directly on the beach during the hot August days, the resort's other amenities provided the perfect alternative for comfort and entertainment. Our experience was positive; the rooms were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay at this hotel and appreciated the variety it added to our visit to Hilton Head Island.

One was the basic suite on the first floor without any view, the other had a partial view of the ocean. We went with the partial view of the ocean though it was an additional 125 dollars a night. We are on VACAY, no biggie. So when we arrive, we get into our room after the Bellhop gets done slamming our things to the ground, tipped him, though probably shouldn't have. When we look outside our room, we see a big parking lot and not even a slightly partial view of any water other than the puddle in the parking lot from a previous rain. My wife goes down right away and says this isn't an upgrade, they first tell her, we were lucky to get a room, because they were overbooked (sounds like a you problem not an us problem doesn't it?). Then they proceed to tell her that it was an upgraded suite (I guess they don't realize we know how to use the internet, it was the most basic room and a Handicap room on top of it, we will get back to that debacle later). A few hours later, I go down to talk to the desk because I have just taken the dogs out for a walk and it was not very much fun walking in the parking lot, though they did have a few small grass islands which proved beneficial. I was also told that it was an upgraded room and that we should talk to a manager on checking out. I bring up the fact that after the stay if we complain, it does no good since we have implicitly agreed to the Terms and Conditions since we didn't leave and demand a refund immediately, he just smiles. After the first lovely night sleeping on a broken down mattress that is on a 3/4" piece of ply-wood that has a fabric wrap to allow for ease of use by people who are in wheelchairs. It is less comfortable than sleeping on the bathroom floor. I know this because our dogs get off the bed after about an hour and go sleep on the floor, something they never would do at our house with our plush Kings Down Mattress and Box Spring, we notify the desk we are checking out early. No problem. Then at checkout, the manager is amazingly not available though the check out host asks why we are leaving early, he then proceeds to tell us that we were not charged for an upgraded room (Again Bobo, we know how to use the internet, we paid an additional 125 dollars a night for an upgraded room). The only saving grace is that the beach which was about a half a mile walk for us, was a nice diversion for the dogs. Do not waste your money on this debacle of a "resort". No excuse for the lies we were told by the hostesses and hosts at the front desk, that is inexcusable to outright lie multiple times to your guests. Cheers, hope your visit to Hilton Head Island is better than ours.
