Clean license for over 15 years and I get 1 ticket.. no points, no school but $190 in court fees.. yet anyone I have ever heard use them gets $0 court fees... This review is a few months overdue, but better late than never! My out-of-state mother-in-law received a notice in the mail from a collection law firm representing Miami-Dade County in May. It was based on a red-light camera violation that had occurred in September of the previous year. She had never received the notice from the private outfit that sends out the initial violations, nor either of the letters that were supposedly sent by the court (the law requires them to be sent certified, so I'm confident that they never were sent). Since I am a lawyer admitted in New York, my mother-in-law enlisted my assistance. I know how I would have handled it had it been in New York, but I needed a Florida attorney to help me. Many of the other law firms I reached out to either sent responses that indicated that they clearly didn't bother to read my request, or put me on with an intake paralegal who told me they couldn't help. I found Unger and Kowitt online and saw positive reviews. I spoke to one of their legal assistants, who was very friendly and helpful, and told me she would have one of the attorneys call me. Kevin Unger called and I explained the situation, and what I would do in court had it been in New York. He was very straight with me and said something like "That would be a good strategy, but honestly, it would cost more in legal fees than it's worth. I wouldn't bother if it was me" I appreciated the honesty and we formulated a different strategy to fight the ticket. I then sent him all of the information he requested, including an affidavit from my mother-in-law regarding the citation (she was not driving at the time). A few weeks later after the court date, I got an email from the firm that the ticket had been dismissed in its entirety, and there was nothing more I or my mother-in-law had to do. Everyone who worked for the firm handled everything, and didn't jerk me around or waste my time with canned answers. Not to mention that the low fee we paid them was extremely reasonable. As an attorney myself, I know how many attorneys there are that are a toxic combination of incompetent and dishonest. These people here did a great job, and I can't recommend them enough for any traffic needs down here in South Florida. read more

I got a very good price for my ticket defense. I was going 44mph on a 30mph on a police trap at the end of the month (go figure).... Although, I did not agree with the cop, he needed to make quota. All I can say is do the math. I hired this firm to get me out of a "failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign ticket". I have an excellent driving record with my last ticket being well over 6 years ago. They were successful in having the charge removed and no points assigned to my record, HOWEVER, I was assessed $203 in court fees plus the lawyer's $89 fee. Had I chosen to attend traffic school the cost would have been $186 for the ticket plus $30 for a 4 hour online course. In other words, $76 cheaper than going with a lawyer. I have no complaints about the firm. They were polite and professional enough. My decision to go with a ticket defense lawyer saved me TIME which for me IS money, however that may not necessarily be the case for everyone. read more
