Chose the hotel based on its quaintness and uniqueness. We were travelling as a group of 8 (4…read morecouples). There is a common room (much like a living room) where you can sit and socialize. We chose that area to sit and catch up before dinner so as not to disturb other guests. It was mutually agreed amongst us that we were made to feel unwelcome by the repeated stares and dirty looks we received from the middle aged lady that was working that afternoon (Nov 9th). The location is great, the beds are super comfy however the rooms are in desperate need of some TLC. We meet twice a year for a weekend and typically stay at a large chain, thought we'd try something different last weekend...but have all agreed....back to the chain hotels we go in May! Can honestly say I have never been made to feel so unwelcome in a hotel.

Our first choice when staying in Kingston, Ontario (actually I'd never settle for anyplace else)…read more To quote their website: "In the 1940s Vogue Magazine called it 'the only reasonable place to stay between Montreal and Toronto.'" Well, I'll tell you what: Vogue was right on. Each of the rooms is furnished in stylish, tasteful antiques, yet at the same time manages not to seem old-fashioned or stuffy. No two rooms are the same, which makes it fun to go back and select a different room for a totally new experience. The Hotel Belvedere is one of those quiet, relaxing places where it's easy to imagine you've gone back in time to a less-hectic era. The sitting room in the first floor is cozy and inviting, and the breakfast is absolutely wonderful--tea, English muffins, cheddar cheese, orange juice served in champagne glasses. Very nice. The only downside is that there is very, very limited parking. There are only about four parking spots behind the hotel--all of which are angled and a very tight fit between the house and what was probably once a garage (it's not in use now, at least not for guests). Any other cars have to park on the street. Miraculously, of all the times we've stayed there, we've only had to park on the street once, so I guess it works, somehow, but I'm never a fan of parking in really tight spaces between buildings (while I, personally, always try to be courteous to other cars around my own, not everyone does). If you're going to Kingston and you like something a bit more posh than run-of-the-mill motel chains, if you're looking for a great relaxing place to stay, then this is it. I'm never disappointed when I stay at the Hotel Belvedere.

I'm giving this place a 3 instead of 5 because it is VERY expensive, like double the price of motels actually on the water and that's just because it's been on TV. This motel has no pool and no ice machine, because of these 3 reasons I don't think it's worth the price. The bugs outside were also VERY BAD which is to be expected but they are attracted to light and there's no option to turn off outside light so everytime we opened the door at least 100 bugs would fly in! Adorable decor, friendly staff , Complimentary s'mores and bonfire each night. Broken tv, no pool, expensive No ice machine

If you're a fan of the show, then it's a must. Also be ready with your phones out to get all the pics! Perfect for a girls trip. Free rose (or non-alcoholic drink) on check-in. The lobby is super cute, but tinier than I had imagined. They also have an outdoor space with a fire where you can enjoy smores in the evening. It was smokey and rainy during our stay, so we did not use the area. Options for contactless check-in and check-out, with lots of text reminders. Check-in is at 4pm with no options to check-in earlier (we tried though!) The place was not that busy when we were there, but I imagine it could get pretty loud and busy in peak season. The room is definitely cute! All the essentials included, including the best body oil. Beds were ok and the noise machine was a nice touch. It's a bit of a splurge for a hotel room, but definitely check it out if you want to try out something different! Looking forward to checking out the Sauble Beach location in the future!
